all - howdy! just answering a few recent posts from folks, but also wanted to spread the word of an act of theivery that affected some friends of mine and their gear. the guys in camper van beethoven (and cracker) got ripped off in montreal, canada yesterday. if you live in the area or check out used guitars and gear online, please take a moment to read the list of gear on this page and keep an eye out for it! there's even a reward... http://www.campervanbeethoven.com/gearstolen/

The Bob - i was informed a while ago that some cell phone carriers do have some ringtones of joe's stuff, but the only info i was given is that you need to check with your local carrier to find out. so, that's the best i can do to help you out!

jblaze1 - i was going to add that feature ("member since xx/xx/xx") but because that info wasn't original stored i didn't want to do it since it'd look like everyone was there starting the same date. now that it's been a little bit, i might add it back in. it would be nice to predate people who've been around a long time, but i'm not sure of a way to validate people's claims :}

megaboyd - the 2nd warfield date will only show up if the first one sells out or is close to selling out. it hasn't been cancelled, but isn't officially on, but is on hold :}

hi joe! unfortunately you never drop by in portugal when in europe! just for the record we're here right next to spain(yuck)! you still have lots of fans here but most of them (like me) don't have the money to go to paris to watch you (believe me, i've tried)! hope you remind us...

PS: i learned in this forum you've been in slovenia. don't want to minimize slovenia (zahovic ruled in FC Porto, my club, the current european champion) but it's odd you've been there and never been here. once again, hope you remind us...

I concede in the political arena, it's cocktail time.

On a lighter note, do any of you listen to Greg Howe? I was just turned on to him and he is amazing. Check out

jazzy - wow.. that website is just so informative and educational.. very cool indeed... I forwarded the link to me mum... lol..

Mikesb - Rory was awesome... funny how he's not really mentioned in the hall of fame that often... I thought that he had a seriously modern approach for the time...
optical - the main thing to consider with 2x12 cabs is that they are pretty 'bright' sounding..
civgeek - as to that old English cuisine....

I think someone's been pulling your plonker.... lol...

mowlie - wow... stunning... that's a nice thing to know... thanx....
I don't know about the playing being 'flawless' though... lol...
I think it's good enough to deliver the vibe.. but then.. that's good enough for me.. I've never really considered myself as a technical player.. I'm more of a vibes guy..
the really tricky part in the composition was trying to depict the stories via instruments.. but then.. that sort of stuff allows for more interesting vibes to lay down, wider compositional scope and presents some interesting compositional hurdles to overcome.. such key, tempo and dynamic changes.. do the changes gradually evolve [so the riff sneaks up on yer].. or is it in your face..
anyway.. it's much more fun than writing "boy meets girl"
unless of course boy has girl bent over the bath and is beating her to death with a jerry can as he does her up the hoop...

I did wonder about that rig.. a bit of a hammer to crack a nut... lol..
personally I'd have backed off on the 'presence' to soften the tone a little given the musical setting..
did I mention that when I was there?.. I can't remember.. but I do remember thinking it as I was walking to the pub..

so now you're inspired eh?... lol.. you off to write tracks about nutters getting nuttier... lol.. or do I have that angle well covered... lmao..

Farting Gnome - bro.. I little while back I wrote a post in Welsh.. I figured that you may be the only guy in here that may understand it...

and obviously no one replied to it... lol..

Cuthbert - Blind Melon... ??

who the fuck??.... lmao...

Climber - how many countries compete in the World Series??
stu clone - lol... funny thing is... you're at rock bottom.. and you think.. "well.. the only way from here on has to be up..."

and then you're proved wrong... lmao...

yoda - lmao... a bod like that would definately pull the punters in... lmao..

so when are you next playing live.... lmao..

I wanna fuck it up in the mosh pit with Christina...
usual blood and snot stuff... lol...

supaadave - shaved bush has already been scientifically prooved as undesirable...

it's not bringing politics into t2j I object to..
it's bringing politics into bush... lol..

Jazzy - French people like Zen don't need boycotting... they need to be understood... lmao..
gee3 - I'll be getting Attack anyhow... cos I'm a Malm fan and always have been.... weak songs and all... lol..

it's a little thin to start a war based on "known evidence" of WMDs that are STILL to be found, then you get the

webmaster - "("member since xx/xx/xx")"

What if you modified that slightly, to a "Posting at T2J since..."...? If you did that, would you be able to have the site automatically look up the date of someone's first post to get the date?

Some of the regulars here would have the same date (the date you launched this version of T2J back in 2002), but that wouldn't be a big deal. If it was a problem, well, there are probably only 10-20 people who have been here that long...so even if you wanted to update those few manually it wouldn't be that difficult. One of us could collect a list of names and dates to make it easier for you, too.

Regardless of how it's done, I think a "Member since..." thing is a great idea.

Also...are you planning on going to one of Joe's shows at the Warfield? I know that's still a few months from now, but I thought I'd ask... I'll be at both shows (assuming a second one is added).

DelfinoPie - No problem...
cuthbert1776 - "Yes, I saw the universal TV on/off thingie. I thought it might be fun to take into an HH Gregg or Best Buy."

Hahaha...that'd be great. :-)

jazzzzzzzy - "You say your politics is in the middle of the road"

I have never said that. I have said I am not a Democrat or a Republican. It is not necessary to belong to a political party.

"you always seem to pick on Liberals and democrats"

I rarely (if ever) start political discussions on this board. I respond to comments that don't make sense. If the Republicans here would make posts criticizing Democrats in a way that makes no sense, I would say something about it. That doesn't happen as often as you and others post about Republicans, so it only makes sense that I respond to more of those posts.

My problem with Michael Moore has nothing to do with his political point of view. I have said that before (read my response to XtrChessReal).

Praising Michael Moore for pointing out Bush's supposed lies makes no sense, because Moore is just as deceptive as you claim Bush to be.

codaniel - The song is actually "Sleep Walk". It is on Strange Beautiful Music.
DamIMissNamm - When you respond to posts in the future, can you use the quote feature? It's easier for us to see what you're responding to and what your response is if you do things like that. Type (quote), copy the other person's text, and type (/quote). When you do it, though, use [ and ] instead of ( and ).

Thanks. :-)

...Austin...

Joe, you are "THE MAN!" I love your music. You have inspired me to play guitar. The song "Satch Boogie" was what changed my world. I saw you in Washington, DC on your Flying In A Blue Dream tour. It was the greatest concert I've ever seen. You did (7) encores. You came out after the last one and told everyone to go home, that you didn't know any more songs. Thank you for that experience. A dedicated fan, REDSKIN.

Steve Vai's Piano Reductions Volume I is now available...

Go here to preorder it:

http://stores.musictoday.com/store/dept.asp?dept_id=1741&band_id=340

The first 2,000 preorders will receive a print of Steve's handwritten "The God Eaters" score.

I just placed my order...

If anyone else orders this, can you let me know if the score print is mentioned on the checkout screen or in your order confirmation email?

Steve is using MusicToday for this presale. The manager of the Dave Matthews Band owns that company...whenever I preorder DMB-related CDs that come with bonus items, the bonus items are always mentioned on the checkout page. This Steve Vai score wasn't mentioned in my order confirmation, so I want to make sure I'll still receive it.

Thanks in advance for any help with this...

DamnIMiss'Nam: even better than what Austin said, use the italic tags for quoting, rather than the quote ones, as the quote tags make for annoying layout issues. As I recall, they were included in the T2J thing so that people could type tabs in a fixed width font. But hey, it's up to you.

Clarky: very funny! So there aren't any countries in the "World Series", unless you're talking about 1 day cricket back in the day, which used to have 3 countries at a time. (It's not called that any more.) Maybe we should start submitting teams for our countries to play in this "World Series" that doesn't actually have any countries competing in it.
