The concert was excellent last night! We had a great time. One of the guys I was with had never been to JS concert and needless to say he loved it. We all really loved it.

I must admit that I've never seen a more dead crowd up front at perhaps any concert I've ever been to though. It was hard to believe! I wish we could have been closer...but still we all thoroughly enjoyed the show. I'll be talking about this one for quite a while.

I hadn't been to a show since the first G3. I have most of the newer cd's though. I'm loving the "strange" songs y'all are playing. Those are the ones we want to hear. Thanks so much!

I also liked seeing the rhythm parts of your songs played-great playing by Galen. That was a real treat. Matt was excellent on bass too. But I want to know if he's making up words to the songs (the ones without lyrics that is) LOL!

I hope you'll come back to Ohio again soon despite the empty seats and quiet crowd.

michelle & Do The Stu ; Yes Live at the Budokan is really good. I have to admit I didn't even know who they were till Joe played with them. They kind of remind me of Emerson Lake & Palmer. I have Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, Images and Words, When Dream and Day Unite and An evening with J. Petrucci & J. Rudess so far. I don't know the songs yet , but I have to say their music is intense. I received my platinum t- shirt finally and it's off to Austin Tx to see Joe tomorrow !!! woo-hoo , from the reviews it should be incredible. I have to work till 11:00 am and then catch the plane at 1:00 pm (friday) with the wife. She loves Joe's music too!! I'll let you all know how it went. Brian

Sorry! I hit that too quick! Double post but I spared you! I saw the movie "Hero" last week and it was awesome! I loved it!! I knew I would. The cinematography and the fight scenes were just beautiful. I'm so glad I got to see it on the big screen. Mikey, did you get to see it? I know it came out 2 years ago in Europe. I'm just so glad to finally be able to see it.

Cuthbert: Check out "Trouble Is..." by KWS it is a great album....KWS is a bout to put out a new very rocked up album which he will sing on for the first time....I'm not too crazy about his singing, kind of sounds like a white Lenny Kravitz and nasally. He should get back to letting Noah sing vocals again.

Mowlie: That's killer man! Is that magazine big stuff?

Woo. ZEN MASTER number two response. LOL. Thanks you guys. I really appreciate the feed back. Clarky, I really enjoy your music. You seem to be able to work at it full time and of course it shows. I drive a truck 10 to 12 hours a day so it's rare that I have the chance to get lost in what I would really like to do. Music. Clarky if you haven't listened to the song here's the link

Hi Joe, Has your "Is There Love on Another Planet" been released in New Zealand? I have tried several record stores for months and seen no sign of it. My fault I guess for not asking for an autographed copy :(

Zinc Master - Kenny Wayne Shepherd is a very cool blues guitarist...his new album is not really a true representation of his sound. I bought the album when it came out three weeks ago, but I didn't get around to listening to it until tonight (and only because you mentioned Kenny Wayne Shepherd here).

Part of the reason for that delay is the fact that I've bought around two dozen CDs and DVDs in the past few weeks...so it's taking me a long time to get through everything. But still, I haven't really been looking forward to Kenny's album...mainly because Marti Frederickson worked on it. Marti slowly ruined Aerosmith over the past seven years, and it looks like he's in the process of trying to turn Jonny Lang from a young blues guitarist into a John Mayer-ish singer / guitarist... It sucks.

Kenny's situation with Marti isn't nearly as bad as the two situations I just mentioned, and I'm actually pleasantly surprised by this album. It's better than I thought it would be, but it's my least favorite of his four releases.

Go here to listen to sound clips. I rank his albums in this order (check out clips of the songs listed in parentheses):

- Trouble Is... (Blue On Black; Somehow, Somewhere, Someway; Trouble Is...)
- Ledbetter Heights (Deja Voodoo; Aberdeen; While We Cry; Ledbetter Heights)
- Live On (In 2 Deep; Them Changes; Oh Well)
- The Place You're In

Most of Kenny's songs have vocals, but there are also one or two instrumental tracks on each of his albums...

EDIT - You probably already know this, but Kenny Wayne Shepherd was the opening band on the first G3 tour. He was also the third "G" on the second G3 tour.

Mahavishnu - Cool... Pick up Dream Theater's A Change Of Seasons as soon as you can. My favorite Dream Theater album is Awake...I recommend that one as well. If you don't really like James LaBrie's voice, though, I would wait and buy some other Dream Theater albums before you get Awake. People who don't like James' voice seem to have trouble listening to Awake. I think it's an awesome album, though...as I said, it's my favorite Dream Theater album.

Also, I highly recommend the two albums from the Liquid Tension Experiment (3/5 of Dream Theater + Tony Levin). Click here...

OCPS470 - "KWS is a bout to put out a new very rocked up album which he will sing on for the first time"

That album, The Place Your In, was released on 10/5. Kenny sings on most of the tracks, but Noah is on the album as well.

bahduh - "sorry man,,,i got it all wrong coz this part of the world 100% is maximum"

LOL...100% is usually the maximum here, too. I just got some extra points on the test for writing answers that were more specific than what the teacher was expecting.

"do yu have indian friend in yur university"

I've had a few Indian friends in the past (I lived in several different parts of the US when I was younger), but I don't actually have any at school right now. There are a lot of Chinese and Japanese students here, but not many Indian students...

...Austin...

optical - ah.. so if you don't have the funds to improve your rig.. then improve the stuff that really counts..

your playing ability and you soul...

a lil' story.....
me.. I'm a leftie.. I never had the luxury of being able to choose the finest instruments... even if I had the money, the top models are simply not available to me.. in fact, nothing has changed much...
so.. I always played mid to low end models... still do.. mostly RG470s..
anyway, I was playing as a demonstrator for Laney Amps in the British Music fair.. at the time I was playing a Westone Spectrum SX... it was the only l/h guitar that came with anything remotely like a Floyd Rose... so it was my only choice... and personally, I thought it played really well and sounded great too... but it was only £250 [in the late 80s I think]..
so... I was on a one hour break and decided to go walk about around the exhibition with a session player pal [who's one fucking mean guitarist].. we were at the Marshall stand.. there was this American guy.. tan, long blonde hair, red pants, white bikers jacket and a really expensive looking red Jackson.. he was an ok player... solid riffer.. moderately quick.. knew a few lil' tricks with the whammie and harmonics etc.. a very proficient player out of the Bon Jovi / Journey / Sabu style of things.... and knew all the poses too... the crowd watching were like "ooooo... aaaaahh".. and totally blown away...
after he'd finished his little stint, he said to the crowd "anyone want to try.." a guy steps forward... novice to intermediate...playing his best.. sounding ok to a little less than ok here and there... he was obviously very nervous playing in front of people.. and our 'rock star' made fun of him a little... nothing too harsh... but still.. it was not nice..
my pal shoved me in the back and I ended up out in the front.. the guy looks at me and says "so you wanna go too?".. I said "ok thanx.. but I'm a leftie, I'll need to use my own bat"..
I got out my guitar.. he looked at the head stock and said "West-fucking-what?".. and laughed at me...
I asked him if he could shred..he says.. "yeah man.. why.. can you?.. naah... ain't no such thing as a shredder outside of Cali man... so you wanna cut heads?.." still laughing at me...
I said "ok.. sounds like fun to me.."

and I ripped that ass-hole to bits.... and then some...

after 10 minutes he'd run out of he best 'intimidation licks' and just stopped trying "enough enough.. you made ya point man.."
I shook his hand.. and he appologised....
something like "fuck man.. you're quick.. smart player too.. like I'm sorry ya know.. I really am.. I was just being stupid.."

so.. it all ended well... and he decided to like me.. and then ask questions about technique.. lol

the moral?

... it ain't what you got... it's how you use it...
