Joe we went to see you in manchester for the G3 concert. We thought you where brill. But there was just one thing we had too miss your last 3/4 of an hour cause we would not been able to get to huddersfield cause it was the last train home. We checked the train and buss times and not one was running later. My partner was really upset that he had to go but we need to also get home to our daughter. Next time you do a G3 is there any chance that you maybe able to start a bit earlier so we can watch the whole concert please.

PS. our daughter boggies to your songs and runs around the room. Thanks bye for now

I stand with you as a fellow human being, humbled and thankful to our brothers and sisters in arms past, present, and future. I too extend the deepest heartfelt gratitude to the veterans of this country and all warriors in the world preserving our peace and promoting freedom, liberty and justice for all.

I have an autographed picture of Joe that you can have. I would give you my pick that I caught in New Orleans but I already gave it away that night to the guy standing next to me. We are so fortunate in this country. Post your address and I will put it in the mail to you.

Keep rocking and know you have friends here at t2j and in America.

All

For all of those who care. Please join me tomorrow and practice a random act of kindness. It doesn’t have to be elaborate it can be as simple as giving someone a complement, serving someone a cup of coffee, teaching someone a new chord on the guitar. Or telling those closest to you how much you love them.

As our nation and the nations around the world struggle for common ground, let’s lead by example and prove that THERE IS LOVE IN SPACE, our space and what we make of it.

Joe

God bless you and your music. I believe it resonates with tones of the best the human spirit has to offer.

962 I ordered mine from Amazon a few months ago, I must've got in on the last few by the looks of things lol.

a blonde had crashed her car but was unscathed, she waited patiently by the road side for emergency services to come, a police officer pulled up and said "what happened here then?" the woman replied "i was driving down the road when all of a sudden a tree appeared out of no where, so i swerved to avoid it, there was another tree so i swerved again and there was another, and then i swerved again and there was another...and i swerved again..and there was another..." the policeman interrupted as the blonde had gone into some what of a loop... "...exscue me miss...but that was ur air freshener swinging on your rear view mirror"...

Mr. Satriani: Just wanted to touch base with you about your visit to New Orleans on Oct. 29th. My son met you at a meet & greet at a local music store. He gave you a press pack for his band, a personal letter and also a cd with a blues ballot solo he did. I won't give his name but I'm sure you will know who I'm speaking about. (I wouldn't think that would happen in the same day too many times)! Anyway, you are very inspirational to him and I have watched him sit in his room doing nothing but teaching himself the guitar for the last 9 years and I know it shows by his playing. Of course I'm bias as a mother but everyone else who has heard him does agree as well. However, I would like your opinion, if possible, about his playing if you ever get a chance to listen to his solo cd and his band cd with your busy schedule. If so please feel free to email me at the email I provided when I joined, I don't want to post it on the internet. Take care & hopefully we will speak soon!!

cuthbert..that song title is really cool.

do the stu...i haven't got any cds, i've downloaded a few songs, but i want to buy the cds, they're definatly worth spending my money on rather than download them. it will also save space on my hard drive.

zinc master..i prefer live albums. i find it captures the artist alot better than in a studio.

noppa..thanks for the suggestions.

Jazzy - in the early days of my playing the albums I got the riffs down to were: If You Want Blood [ACDC], Paranoid, sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Vol 4, [Sabbath], Motorhead, Overkill, Bomber [Motorhead], Killing Machine, Unleashed in the East [Judas Priest], Live and Dangerous [Thin Lizzy], Made in Japan, Burn [Deep Purlple], Strangers in the Night [UFO], Angel Witch [Angel Witch], Led Zep II and IV, Iron Maiden [Iron Maiden], MSG....

this must cover the first 3 or 4 years of my life as a player...
even if I didn't have the solos down, I'd play something similar-ish... but I could play all of the songs on all of the albums from a rhythm point of view...

concentrating just on Judas Priest
on Unlieshed in the East check out the following songs in particular:
The Ripper [it's actually pretty tricky - especially the ending - pure class]
Genocide [classic stuff - a bench mark in the evolution of modern riffing]
Diamonds and Rust [the muting is important here]
on Killing Machine check out the following songs in particular:
Hell Bent ffor Leather [another tricky one]
Killing Machine
Burnin' Up [years ahead of it's time]

The key to being simple....
that's just lots of expermintation and attitude ...
songs like Teen Spirit, Enter Sandman... great riffs...

the greater your repetoir of riffs...
the more you have to draw upon when you write.....
and writing tons of music is where you grow and develop..

the only real solution is:

learn lots of songs..... write lots of songs....

eamon - Schenker was a huge influence to me.. the sheer delivery.. making a single note have so much tension...
Schenker can create tremendous intensity without even having to shred.... his trick is note selection...

I rate him immensely and if you know both our playing styles well, you'll be able to hear how his approach rubbed off on me..

the moral...

it's not how big your technique is.. it's what you do with it that counts....

Nick - thanx for the translation bro....

I'm now in contact with DSF to make sure that I'm not being ripped off by the TV station or Castrol...

fingers crossed eh...

Zen - no I've never writen a book on music or guitar playing...

Shredz: I've completed the backing track to the Baptist... now I need to lay down the solos... and this one is really really tough...

no one can ever accuse me of playing 'safe'.... lol...

slansh - nice one... thanx bro...
Mikey - happy birthday bro......

Clarky, i agree with you about the note selection being his strong point but to me no one can even today can match his vibrato. listening to shenker taught me how important a great vibrato is and how it cam be one of your most expressive tools no matter what style you play.SUZIE2000, every flying v should come with a shenker cd because nobody will ever play one better then him

webmaster - Is there a reason why the Thin Lizzy / Joe Satriani / Deep Purple tour dates are not listed in the Road - Archive section of the site?

Stevee T - No, I don't think Joe's fanbase is getting smaller.

I do know that MTV and VH1 do not currently play instrumental guitar rock music videos. Because of that, spending thousands of dollars per video and making two or three videos per album would be a huge waste of money. I'm sure Joe and Sony know that...otherwise, we would have nearly a dozen music videos from CP, EOC, SBM, and ITLIS?.

I'd love to see another DVD, but it's unrealistic to expect that it would be similar to The Satch Tapes. The way Joe's recording process has changed over the years (using Pro Tools, etc.), I think even something like another Reel Satriani is an unrealistic expectation.

Our best bet is another live DVD...hopefully we'll get one soon.

mischievous - Welcome back. :-)
Zinc Master - Yeah, Pulse is a great live album...
962 - "you very comprehensively avoided the real point of what I said before"

Your point was based on a misunderstanding.

Noppa - "notice that Joe is playing Steve's axe on those pictures on Marky Boy's link"

Yeah, Joe usually uses one of Steve's guitars when he jams with Deep Purple. However, when he jammed with DP on 9/4/04 in Los Angeles, he used his aluminum guitar (the Chrome Boy replacement).

ovation1 - Happy Birthday! :-)
pp0 - "do the stu lets start a satriani band"

That might be fun, but I'm much closer to Ontario, California than I am to Ontario, Canada. I don't think it'd work... ;-)

...Austin...
