Joe, I have followed your carrear since 1988. You have given me a lot of inspiration over the years. It has been interesting listening to your music grow both in maturity & complexity and you continue to fascinate me with your creativity. I have been playing seriously now for 4 years but play only by ear & feel. I have found that though I struggle communicating with other musicians, through hours of tireless practice I can continue to expand & grow as a musician. Although I have many guitar influences, I don't want to copy only create my own music. What advice can you give me as I continue to work through the endless highway of notes, scales & chords?

Joe, it was a WONDERFUL show here in Ann Arbor last night. As my review said, I was so nervous in meeting you that the questions that I was going to ask you just flew out of my head, so I am going to list them here. Thank you for coming, and I hope that you come back soon!

My major one is and this is not a criticism, but why do you not have a guitar tuned down 1/2 step for the songs that were originally recorded as such, such as War and The Extremist? The version of War you played last night rocked the house, but the song carries so much more impact and are heavier when tuned down to D#. Tthe only answer I can think of is it being a matter of logistics, and I know you and the crew are more wary these days about carrying around a lot of guitars.

How is Stu doing? I know that he is not on the tour, but as he is part of the family, I'm curious to know what he is up to.

That's all I can think of, and thank you again for a magical evening, and the best concert experience of my life.

DamlMissNamm, while you are entitled to your views as I am to mine, and also while you are welcome to discuss politics on here with those who also want to, being English I found your comment...

"... to all of our friends living under royal blood in the UK, years ago when we dumped tea in the harbor and decided to keep our right to bear arms, we didn't give a shit what you thought then about our policy. What makes you think we care now?... So, Brits...sit back relax and follow our lead. We will save your little country from terrorism just like we saved you from hitler."

...very rude and patronising. OK, you may not care about England, but do you have to spout off like this?

juju: thanks so much!

Do the stu: You say your politics is in the middle of the road but you always seem to pick on Liberals and democrats. You can quote this too! Its fun to copy and paste!

I sincerely apologize for my comments that offended you. After reading your post, the comment that you removed from the context of my entire post is condescending. I am sorry. I should have addressed the particular brits that were concerned that we should care about what the countries that ask us to defend them think of us when we do.

DammMissNamm: I have to say (in a thick southern accent) "EEE HAWWW!" Way to go cowgirl! On a serious note, I think your post is shit. What makes you think Americans dont give a shit about Britain? Have you been watching the news? Have you seen Bush kissing Tony Blair's ass? You say if radicals want a Jihad they should "bring it on"? I am ashamed of people like you. Sure, bring it on. This is the very same attitude "our" President (bush) had when he went to war with Iraq. This is not WWF. This is not a Rodeo where 'bring it on' works. I know there are people who envy the United States, and you and I hate them equally. But with your attitude & your presentation I dont think they will think any better of us. I think you need to be educated in some of the things our presidents have done with Iraq, Iran and the long gone USSR.

I hate religious statements of all kinds too when they are brought out to the public. So I hope you understand when our president says "God Bless America" and kills thousands in Iraq he is not doing any good either. You believe in strength and honor...have you been listening to Zakk Wylde or something? You are a very narrow minded person imho. and who is john q jerk off? your boyfriend?

"Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"

I prefer Mr. Pearts "An ounce of perception a pound of obscure" (sorry Neil I couldn't help myself)

"I have seen plenty of talk and action related to the "cure" (strikes on others), but little talk about the potential preventions"

Once again Saddam had every chance to comply....

"The war in Iraq has nothing to do with self defense" "Furthermore, I do not believe Saddam was ever a threat to the US, including Desert Storm"

Remember the Israelis waiting for the scuds to land? (they stayed out of desert storm) Oh yeah there were American citizens in Israel at the time.

I don't think in good conscience you could say that Saddam should control 25% of the oil in the world.

"I am in agreement with President Washington regarding entangling alliances. "

"What right does the US have to dictate what weapons another country has and what research another nation decides to undertake? "

We have every right to dictate what ever we want to when it comes to intercontinental ballistic missiles. Mr. Washington would agree if the ICBM preceded the musket.

I just got the opportunity to meet Joe thanks to the drawing on Satriani.com. When I called my dad (also a Satch fan) to tell him about it, I told him, "Well, it looks like if I die, now I can die a happy man."

My mistake, however, as ever since the night of the show I've had Joe's rendition of "Sleepwalker" running through my head. I've tried everything to re-establish normality by listening to other songs, even trying to play "Sleepwalker" on my guitar. All with no luck. I'm desperate! The only solution I see is to get a copy of Satch playing that song. The problem is that I don't See that song listed on any of the Satch releases.

Joe...Please Help! If there isn't a bootleg out there, somewhere, you're just going to have to put it out on your next album...post haste!

DamlMissNamm- Ok then, in return: what do you think of Tony Blair? I can't stand him and wish he could be sent into space if truth be told!

I suppose however, that whoever is voted in as President has more consequence for us in Britain, than the other way around for you.

damMissNamm: I think we need to be concerned what others think of our elections. Reason? There is enough reason already. We cannot have an arrogant President like Bush anymore. You say other countries should not give a shit about what we are doing? But you believe America should? I do not want America to be called the International policeman once again (always has been actually). We are the most powerful country in the world. Some of the decisions we make affects the whole world. Here is an example of our fucked up foriegn policy; we did all this campaign to boycott everything French (people like Zen Fish, lol) but at the same time we have "strong relations" with the Saudis???

Think for yourself. It is important for other countries to have an opinion about us especially when we have fuckt up so much. I do not mix patriotism with politics.

LOL, "of all countries"

Joe, since you are from outer space, the next you go home please take Bush and Blair and dump them there. You should come back though!

I just read through the speech (the proper one) to familiarize myself with it some more....and I found a really fitting quote, Heston must've seen this coming...

"Those who are hostile towards us will lie in wait to seize on a soundbite out of context..."

Thats very fitting, and its exactly what Moore has done to create his own little representation of Heston, and to mediate it to others.

I know you already know this, I think most of this is me writing down my thoughts as they come to me, so forgive me...

Anywayz, take care

"What do you think of Tony Blair?"

Blair is a good man with strong convictions. But I must say the Jury is out until we find out if he listens to satch.

BTW do you listen to Greg Howe? I was turned on to him by my uncle. This guy is amazing. Definitely G3 promise there.

DammMissNamm: I disagree. Blair is a tool. He is using America to build up his armed forces. Blair, a man of strong conviction? What drugs are you on? I believe, in the words of my favorite candidate (John Kerry) that you have made a "colossal error of judgement." Just because I dont like Blair, doesnt mean I badmouth the Brits. I hope you are not one of those people writing to Fox News bitchin about how the Brits should stay away from American politics. They have the full right to have an opinion.

You believe in freedom, but you will not let them exercise their freedom? And if you are an able bodied person and want those bastard terrorists to "bring it on!," enlist in the army. Quit acting like you care so much when your chicken ass does not have the balls to practice what you preach to others.

Sorry, but anyone who becomes the mindless sheep to such propaganda deserves this in my opinion.

Well put. You are obviously educated, articulate, yet misguided.

"Because Israel was the only US ally that Saddam could reach out and touch"

So you agree desperate times call for desperate measures, And Sadamm showed a willingness to hurt the US or her Allies. I don't get it man you said earlier " I do not believe Saddam was ever a threat to the US, including Desert Storm"

Are you working with the Kerry campaign?

"Saddam could not, in 1991 or 2003, reach us."

And thanks to Mr. Bush he won't be able to reach us in the future either.

"Did we dictate to the CCCP?"

Remember the Cuban Missile Crisis? I believe Mr. Kennedy was very effective in telling the Russian boys to sit down and shut up.

"Rights are inherent, and are not a measure of relative strength, which seems to be the only possible application of the right you claim to exist."

Only the strong survive. You have to survive to have rights. Just ask Saddam.

"but how long do you think one will survive if he constantly tries to rule over others and aggress their persons and properties? It won't be long before those over whom he tries to lord himself overthrow him whether in unison or via the death of 1,000 cuts. Such is the nature of empire"

This one really made me shake my head. I believe Afghanistan is still Afghanistan, only with elections now. I believe Iraq is still Iraq, only with elections to come.

WITH THE FREEDOM OF CHOICE COMES THE BURDEN OF DECISION.

Decisiveness (Kerry could go either way on that issue)

We are not the roman or English empire. We are the USA land of the free and the home of the Satch fans!

all - howdy! just answering a few recent posts from folks, but also wanted to spread the word of an act of theivery that affected some friends of mine and their gear. the guys in camper van beethoven (and cracker) got ripped off in montreal, canada yesterday. if you live in the area or check out used guitars and gear online, please take a moment to read the list of gear on this page and keep an eye out for it! there's even a reward... http://www.campervanbeethoven.com/gearstolen/

The Bob - i was informed a while ago that some cell phone carriers do have some ringtones of joe's stuff, but the only info i was given is that you need to check with your local carrier to find out. so, that's the best i can do to help you out!

jblaze1 - i was going to add that feature ("member since xx/xx/xx") but because that info wasn't original stored i didn't want to do it since it'd look like everyone was there starting the same date. now that it's been a little bit, i might add it back in. it would be nice to predate people who've been around a long time, but i'm not sure of a way to validate people's claims :}

megaboyd - the 2nd warfield date will only show up if the first one sells out or is close to selling out. it hasn't been cancelled, but isn't officially on, but is on hold :}

hi joe! unfortunately you never drop by in portugal when in europe! just for the record we're here right next to spain(yuck)! you still have lots of fans here but most of them (like me) don't have the money to go to paris to watch you (believe me, i've tried)! hope you remind us...

PS: i learned in this forum you've been in slovenia. don't want to minimize slovenia (zahovic ruled in FC Porto, my club, the current european champion) but it's odd you've been there and never been here. once again, hope you remind us...
