Joe, have you read Kurt Vonnegut's Player Piano? If you have not, please do! Its really one of his best works. Also, if you have the time, please do check out Stephen King's Different Seasons. Its one of the most chilling novella's I have ever read. See you tonite again at the HOB's!
Keep rockin' n rollin.....

DamIMissNamm - What boat were you on and when? I was on the Richard B. Russel from 1982-85, then the Bergall for 9 months till I got out. I wonder how many more of us there are on this site?

Have fun tonight and be safe. There is a place next to the HOB called Bin 36. They have an excellent beer on tap called BIN 36. It's dark and murkey yet wonderful. Excellent place for the ladies before or after the show.
Kick'em in the teeth Joe!

Hey Joe,
I wanted to throw out a suggestion for a G3 tour. One of my favorites, who's WAY underrated, and has somewhat disappeared....Jake E. Lee. I sure would like to see him again, but don't know if he'll tour again. I'm sure he would be thrilled to tour with you & Steve, and be most grateful. And kick 100% ass! If it does happen, maybe you or Steve could lend him a whammy bar, so he doesn't have to torque his neck in half for dives. Nah, actually, I like that!!!

Zinc Master - Happy birthday. :-)
I think the St. Louis Cardinals will win in five games.
"Just because of one accident - no beer?
Over-reacting anybody?"
Yeah...the fans are overreacting. I have always wondered why people feel the need to vandalize their city when their local sports team wins.
cheese101 - Cool...thanks for the extra info. I wasn't planning on buying the book (I play bass), but I'm sure other people here are glad to know that it can now be preordered.

Joe I'm so jazzed for this coming Wednesday night in Columbus. I even managed to get a date, she had never heard of you but I promised her that you're not heavy metal! But 3 hours might be a bit much for her, I don't know, we'll see.
I hope I win the backstage passes, looks like my odds are currently 1 in 55, not too good, but I think it would be the coolest thing in the world to meet you, your music has been a big part of my life for so many years now.
I'll be in row 13, dark hair almost black, slight of build, bespectacled (but I may be wearing contact lenses, if I do I'll have shades on as a tribute), about 5'8".

cheese101 - thank you! Yes, my stuff is "self-everythinged". I've been playing for 23 years. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Reaching people with music is an awesome thing. :)
Somebody pointed out that my link in my original post was not behaving nicely. I fixed it, but here it is again for anybody who might like to give a listen: http://www.arfnbear.com
Thanks everybody! JOE, you're the best!

Get away from all that stuff??? Hahaa, my spare time for the past two months has been spent watching convention videos, state of the unions, inaugural addresses, debates, and other random speeches from throughout history. My entire life during election time is politics. I can't imagine wanting to "get away from it."
Random note: Whats with all the things telling people to vote? I'd rather people not vote if their not informed.

OME: I sometimes play solo gigs of instrumental music. In the my-room theater, you ever heard of it? I have a pretty strong following too. The 4 walls, they always attend.
No seriously, the few times I have had the opportunity to play out I have always done Instrumentals. I just find anyone that can hold a rythm and then I let it loose. Unscripted, it usualy works out quite well. You see, I have a lot of talent but nobody to make music with. In the barrio/hood everybody raps. I've made a couple "beats" and sold them to a couple up and comming groups but nothing serious. I need some exposure.
Jazzzzzy, Zinc, we having fun yet? Happy 1000 Sun. Zinc Master, you better be getting some on your birthday, not sittin' in front of a computer. That's for us lames tonight.

Clarky, "butt hole the size of a bucket... roflmao.. " Now that's just tooo damn funny! ROTF!!! AGH!!
OME, sorry for the delay on your Godsmack DVD question. I bought it today and got to watch a bit of it before work. Sully is thanking Pennsylvania while the band is onstage. I'm thinking Philly because we saw them in Reading and they weren't taping there. I only got a glance at the booklet that comes with it. It's a great DVD from what I've seen so far :) Love Sully, so it's all good. At the beginning of the DVD, Sully is on the phone getting the word that they aren't allowed to film at the Hammerstein. They show clips of the guys walking around & taking cabs in NY, but I think the show footage is all PA (my home sweet home). I'll let you know when I find out for sure.
Jazzy Jason, thanks for the nod at the passes. I hope you had a fantastic time. Did you get any pictures with Joe?
Zinc, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! Cheers!
Mari, " I know it's an election year but I come here to get away from all that stuff. I know it is a part of life but I can't keep up with all this. I can't stand TV cause of the damn political commercials!" Sucks hard, doesn't it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8 pages and only about 20 posts worth reading.
Steven, sorry you're feeling down. I'm feeling a bit off kilter myself. I'm in a mood lately. All this political bullshit isn't helping either. Music is the best medicine. Party on Wayne. Party on Garth.

I think the talk of the Pearl Harbor cover up is total BS....Why would the President put our most important arsenal of ships & Pacific fleet at risk just to enter a war we were destined to fight anyway....Sooner or later the Germans would have tried to invade the U.S...My grandfather told stories of when he was in the Coast Guard reserve. Our house was used as a relay station back then.Talk of many German ships spying on New York city & outer lying areas was more factual than here say. There are sunken U-boats in Long Island sound to this day..On the Nautical maps!... Yes , the prez may have known about it but the Japanese never came out & admited they were going to attack...We just didn't do anything because we did not have absolute proof of that plan.Propaganda was used quite a bit to confuse the enemy in many wars buy each side..If we listened to everything & acted upon those coded communications, most would have been wild goose chases.
It would be an entirely different story if Japan & the U.S. conspired this B.S. aligation...but I think not....
This ranks up ther with the big Moon Landing conspiracy......come on!....

Two random things:
1.) Aerosmith's Steven Tyler will sing the Star-Spangled Banner before Game 1 of the World Series Saturday in Boston. The anthem will probably be televised (on Fox).
2.) I thought I'd post another update about the Dave Matthews Band and the sewage-dumping incident that occured in Chicago. The band has released another letter...
Basically...the band is still working with authorities to determine who did the dumping. The band is still standing behind their driver, who says he didn't do it. If it turns out he is responsible for the dumping, the band will financially compensate those who were on the boat.
In the meantime, because the investigation has taken so long, the band has decided to make two $50,000 donations to Chicago (one to the Friends of the Chicago River and one to the Chicago Parks District). They will make the donations even if it is later determined that they had nothing to do with the incident.
If you want to read the whole letter, go to http://www.dmband.com/, read the first news item, and click the link.
jdavis102 - "I'd rather people not vote if their not informed."
I agree...but you have to be careful about that. In the past, making people pay money or take a test before they are allowed to vote has obviously caused problems.
Still, I wouldn't mind a simple four-part quiz:
- Who is the current president?
- Who is the current vice president?
- Who is your current U.S. representative?
- Who are your two current U.S. senators?
Anything more than that is unnecessary, in my opinion...
...Austin...
