OpticalStudio- glad to read you have made some headway with accommodation plans! Good luck with it. :-)

Since I've been off work this week, I've been really catching up with a backlog of films I've just bought and / or been meaning to watch for ages... Troy, Dog Soldiers, Monster, Kill Bill Vol 2 and Seabiscuit.

Something really cruel though (I thought) - my father-in-law told me that Seabiscuit dies at the end of the film, so I was bracing myself for a Lassie-type ending... and then it turned out to be a really optimistic, hopeful ending! Grrr......

Zinc Master, my personal feeling is BUY ALL OF KENNY-WAYNE'S RECORDS RIGHT NOW! he's only made 4 albums so it won't cost much, and I love his music, it really rocks.

Kenny has been going since the late 90's, and was 19 years old when he recorded his phenomenal debut "Ledbetter Heights".

slansh - 16 bars is cool.... I can have a ball in 16 bars... lol..

Climber / Do the Stu - mixing is tough... all aspects.. level, eq, panning, effects etc.. and the problem is, you change one little thing and sometimes it can have such profound impacts upon the overall mix...

it's definately an art form - one I wish I was better at...

another trick to consider when mixing [if you don't have automation] is "playing the desk"... it's tricky and take practice.. but if you prepare well and rehearse it you can get better overall results..

From what I have heard, KWS' music is good. I am weary of buying anything yet.

I want to check it out first - either at the library or at the music store (some let you listen to what you want to, at least clips) before buying one or more.

It is encouraging that others seem to like him.

Are his older cds instrumental?

cuthbert - power is wealth... in the day of the Crusades the pope was top man.. higher than any King..

the upper layers of christian power saw islam as a serious threat... also, there was great wealth and plunder available in the holy land..

so why for so long was islam ok to exist in the holy land...
and then one day it's decided that Jerusalem must be "liberated".... under the guise of a pilgrimage [at least for the 1st Crusade.. that other 3 were more obviously military..]

study the situation deep enough.. and you'll find bounty for the pope...
new Christian converts... more "donations" for the faith...

"My contention is that any effort to obtain the wealth of other nations via force is unjust (just as armed robbery is unjust), and should be eschewed (especially by those nations that espouse freedom)."
this is interesting... it has parallels with the Gulf Wars... not really to take someone else's resources... but to make sure that they remain on sale to you... lol..

"Likewise, wars to preserve national interests that are not related to defense of territyory or property already lawfully and directly owned by the aggressor are, IMHO, unjust."
this is really interesting... at what point does a nations borders become their own...
The Falklands are British.. Argentina argued the point and lost.
The borders in the Eastern Bloc and the mordern middle east were drawn by UK, France, Russia and USA after WW2.. and the trouble cause by them continues today...
should the native American invade the UK for taking the 13 colonies from them... lol...
and so on...

so how do you know if you are in the right...
because your border has stood for a few hundred years???
interesting stuff..

zen - Shredz is doing great... done so far:
The Raft of the Medusa
Requiem
The Chosen One
Artaud: On the Fringe of Insanity
Virtus Junxit mors non Separabit

I am really very proud of everything so far......

right now I'm working on The Beheading of John the Baptist..

michelle - more like an ass of bucket.. lmao..

cuthbert - interesting thing about WW2 Swiss... all armies will face grief there.. the land poses too many problems in military and logistical terms...

and the German army of WW2 was really designed for swift, highly mobile, combined arms warfare...
the Alps would eliminate their speed, mobility and air support...
even more so than Stalingrad... and look what happened there....

there is nothing in Switzerland worth risking such high potential losses that is worth having...

The Falklands commands Cape Horn
Gib. the straights entering the Med Sea.. Pripet Marshes in Poland, the Ardennes in Belgium, the English Channel, The Po Valley in Italy

places like these are of great strategic significance...

mikesb - I've been Mongolised loads of times... lmao...

one of the key principles behind the Roman Empire was the swift Romanisation of the native population...

Yoda - I'm not over keen when they thrash... but when they slow down and get really heavy it's awesome... I love the really deep vocals... that is so me... and when the groove is slow but the kick drums are really quick... awesome....

well into it..

optical - change your rig when you really need to...
like it's not powerful enough for the gigs you play, or you need to mordernise or introduce more flexibility via new technology.. or the tone is not right for your playing style...

make change s because you need to...
and not because you are on some kind of tone quest...

The concert was excellent last night! We had a great time. One of the guys I was with had never been to JS concert and needless to say he loved it. We all really loved it.

I must admit that I've never seen a more dead crowd up front at perhaps any concert I've ever been to though. It was hard to believe! I wish we could have been closer...but still we all thoroughly enjoyed the show. I'll be talking about this one for quite a while.

I hadn't been to a show since the first G3. I have most of the newer cd's though. I'm loving the "strange" songs y'all are playing. Those are the ones we want to hear. Thanks so much!

I also liked seeing the rhythm parts of your songs played-great playing by Galen. That was a real treat. Matt was excellent on bass too. But I want to know if he's making up words to the songs (the ones without lyrics that is) LOL!

I hope you'll come back to Ohio again soon despite the empty seats and quiet crowd.

michelle & Do The Stu ; Yes Live at the Budokan is really good. I have to admit I didn't even know who they were till Joe played with them. They kind of remind me of Emerson Lake & Palmer. I have Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, Images and Words, When Dream and Day Unite and An evening with J. Petrucci & J. Rudess so far. I don't know the songs yet , but I have to say their music is intense. I received my platinum t- shirt finally and it's off to Austin Tx to see Joe tomorrow !!! woo-hoo , from the reviews it should be incredible. I have to work till 11:00 am and then catch the plane at 1:00 pm (friday) with the wife. She loves Joe's music too!! I'll let you all know how it went. Brian

Sorry! I hit that too quick! Double post but I spared you! I saw the movie "Hero" last week and it was awesome! I loved it!! I knew I would. The cinematography and the fight scenes were just beautiful. I'm so glad I got to see it on the big screen. Mikey, did you get to see it? I know it came out 2 years ago in Europe. I'm just so glad to finally be able to see it.

Cuthbert: Check out "Trouble Is..." by KWS it is a great album....KWS is a bout to put out a new very rocked up album which he will sing on for the first time....I'm not too crazy about his singing, kind of sounds like a white Lenny Kravitz and nasally. He should get back to letting Noah sing vocals again.

Mowlie: That's killer man! Is that magazine big stuff?
