OpticalStudio - how's it going? Why do you have to move so suddenly though- is the landlord selling up or something? I really hope it sorts out soon. We are in the middle of a long, painful and depressing move which has gone back to the beginning so many times it's untrue! Luckily though, thanks to St. Prozac, all is now getting back on track!

The stuff we have recorded unfortunately is not completely ready... the stage we are at is that we have been in a recording studio, recorded about 10 tracks (all renaissance type stuff though, voice and guitar- but it's not original material you see, only John Dowland compositions and such like.) All we have so far is a CD which (which needs a few things done so we are happy with it) we can start copying- but I have no idea about how to upload to the internet or anything like that. That sounds really sad, but I'm only technically and computer minded to an extent! My husband does compose, but we don't have this recorded yet. Oh well, thanks for the info and encouragement though! It is much appreciated. Take it easy :-)

Suzie

R.I.P. John Peel. A true British Legend - the music industry has suffered a great loss.

I had a 'free improvisation' lecture with Bill Bruford today. Some interesting points and exercises were shared/discussed; like he got three people up on stage at a time (drums, bass, guitar) and said "you're going to play a totally improvised piece in which the only limitations are I want it to start with slow, long notes and develop into fast, short notes over the course of two minutes. Ready, steady, go!". No time signature, no key, no anything but those guidelines. The result was certainly very interesting, and it was a real challenge, but I found it very difficult to listen to when I wasn't part of the trio. Still, it has become very clear to me just why Bill Bruford is such a revered icon. He's really a phenomenal musician.

The Most Functional English Word

Well, it's shit... that's right, shit! Shit ! may just be the most functional word in the English language.

Consider: You can get shit-faced, be shit-out-of-luck, Or have shit for brains.

With a little effort, you can get your shit together, find a place for your shit, or be asked to shit or get off the pot.

You can smoke shit, buy shit, sell shit, lose shit, find shit, forget shit, and tell others to eat shit.

Some people know their shit, while others can't tell the difference between shit and shineola.

There are lucky shits, dumb shits, and crazy shits. There is bull shit, horse shit, and chicken shit.

You can throw shit, sling shit, catch shit, shoot the shit, or duck when the shit hits the fan.

You can give a shit or serve shit on a shingle.

You can find yourself in deep shit or be happier than a pig in shit.

Some days are colder than shit, some days are hotter than shit, and some days are just plain shitty.

Some music sounds like shit, things can look like shit, and there are times when you feel like shit.

You can have too much shit, not enough shit, the right shit, the wrong shit or a lot of weird shit.

You can carry shit, have a mountain of shit, or find yourself up shit creek without a paddle.

Sometimes everything you touch turns to shit and other times you fall in a bucket of shit and come out smelling like a rose.

When you stop to consider all the facts, it's the basic building block of the English language.

And remember, once ! you know your shit, you don't need to know anything else!!

You could pass this along, if you give a shit; or not do so if you don't give a shit!

Well Shit, it's time for me to go. Just wanted you to know that I do give a shit and hope you had a nice day, without a bunch of shit. But, if you happened to catch a load of shit from some shit-head..........

Well, Shit Happens!!!

Deep thoughts!

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a perfect and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming--Yee Haw-- What a Ride!"

1. Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here, and drink whatever comes out?"

2. Who was the first person to say, "See that chicken there... I'm gonna eat the next thing that comes outta it's butt."

3. If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a song about him?

4. Why does your OB-GYN leave the room when you get undressed if they are going to look up there anyway?

5. Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours? They're both dogs!

6. If Wile E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that Acme crap, why didn't he just buy dinner?

7. If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests?

8. If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, then what is baby oil made from?

9. If electricity comes from electrons, where does morality come from ?

10. Is Disney World the only people trap operated by a mouse?

11. Why do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?

12. Stop singing and read on ..

13. Do illiterate people get the full effect of Alphabet Soup?

14. Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt?

15. Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you, but when you take him on a car ride, he sticks his head out the window?

16. Does pushing the elevator button more than once make it arrive faster? I'm asking you!

How To Clean Your Toilet - The Fun Way

1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl.

2. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.

3. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids. You may need to stand on the lid.

4. The cat will self agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this.

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "power-wash" and rinse".

6. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the bathroom and the front door.

7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.

8. The cat will rocket out of the toilet, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off.

9. Both the commode and the cat will be sparkling clean.

Sincerely,

The Dog

This has been around before, but always interesting:

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights. Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners. Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kenned y, was born i! n 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839. Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names. Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.' Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford.'

Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse. Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here's the kicker...

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland A week before Kennedy was shot, he was in Marilyn Monroe.

Creepy huh? Hey, this is one history lesson people don't mind reading

Joe,

I caught the "Evening with Joe Satriani" show at the Pageant in St. Louis on Sunday night. The show was, how shall I say this ... AMAZING. I couldn't believe how great the set list was. Tons of stuff from the new album, and lots of other tunes that had either never been played or hadn't been played in a long time. It was exactly what I wanted to hear.

How about a DVD of the "evening with" show? It would be the perfect complement to the 2000 DVD (which featured several different songs). With a limited # of "evening with" dates, it would also be a great way to share that amazing set list with ALL of the Satriani faithful, and it would give the fans a chance to see Greg and Galen in action.

Thanks again for a great show!

Mike

I was fortunate enough to see Joe last night at the Pabst theater in MIlwaukee care of Immortal 5150 (Terry). Terry got stiffed on a couple of tickets and gave me one since I'm currently unemployed, and I'd like to nominate him for fan of the year (he coincidentally saw Joe three times in Chicago prior to this). Anyway, thanks again for the ticket Terry, hope the meet and greet was fun after the show too. The Pabst theater is awesome as it has assigned seating, great sound, and no smoking. I can't remember the last concert I attended without asphyxiation afterwards. If you live North of Chicago, you might want to consider Milwaukee in the future. Oh by the way, the concert was as incredible as everyone else has claimed recently.

I knew this day was to good to be true, (Satch concert day)and it was.

My mom just called me and told me my 18 year old cousin rolled his car last night and was killed So I will be going to a funeral this weekend in Pennsylvania. I just talked to him a couple months ago at my Grandmothers funeral. He was a good kid and this was his graduating year. :(

Since the first time I heard "Midnight". I loved the curious change of your music on "Engines of Creation" and you overwhelmed me when you play them alive on your show in the "Víctor Jara Stadium" here in Chile. But there's is one thing I don't know. Why or when did you sucumb to the 7 string guitar. What was in your head that make you change.

climber - Cool...thanks for sharing your song. :-) The rhythm guitar is a little high in the mix, but everything still sounds good.

bahduh - "hey man 111%...whats up ????are yu kidding me.......is it possible,,,,,lol"

LOL...I would not have thought so, but I guess it is possible. It's really nice to have a grade like that, because now I don't have to spend as much time worrying about my final exam in December. ;-)

Zinc Master - That's a good one, even though Marilyn Monroe died a year before Kennedy did...hehe.
