Stu clone, thanks very much for your input, I really appreciate it. I haven't actually had a lesson with him yet - he's coming over fr his first tomorrow evening, so I'll be finding out then what he's into, what he wants to learn, and so on. If he decides to stick with it and progresses to a level where he needs to start checking out the more intensive learning from books, i'll definitely check out ed friedland! And the Hal Leonard books too ~ in my experience, Hal's guitar books have been excellent so i'm sure the bass one's are equally useable!

Thanks again dude!

Austin, thanks to you too for your bass input.

Regards the misunderstanding or whatever, you seem to be suggesting that I made up the story of George W and crew getting the Crawford local paper shut down etc etc? hehe, dude, I would not make up a story like that! In fact I wouldn't make up any story.....that's pretty much what pissed me off - you were implying i'd made it up just because you didn't find internet backup for the story. You could see if you can look into the BBC's archive of recent news boradcasts, and try to find the article, but i think you'll find it a lot more cost-effective time-wise, just to trust that I did indeed see that report on the news!

However, that report could have been misled, but if that's the case I'd rather read "dude, I haven't found anything about that story anywhere else.....maybe there was a mistake", than read "you're lying". Before you say it, no you never said "you're lying" but it was quite clear that that was what you meant.

Delfino, yeah that had me smiling too! Honesty is a virtue! hehe. The sound of a kitten being squashed by an elephant.....i'd never realised it, but with a Whammy, that sound must be surprisingly easy to replicate!

munio does anyone have any good song writing techniques, cos ive been playin guitar for about 7 years and i still cant create any of my own songs, (don't be too harsh im only 15). Could anyone give me any tips??

I would suggest this as art not science....

Listen to "Moroccan Sunset" on the self titled Joe Satriani CD. Close your eyes and imagine what a Moroccan Sunset looks like. Next go and find something to look at and write down the description on how you feel about what you see. Sit down to the guitar and describe with chords ..or notes.. what you wrote. The connection will feel right when you get it! This works for me. Dont't forget music theory but break every rule you feel like breaking. As joe says "learn it and forget it.. It will serve you well".

I don't rember a Petty officer or Comissioned officer with the name Arber. Sorry, but there were a lot of us scrotum heads that passed throught the hallowed halls of Groton CT. Sub School.

I have made it a point all day long today not to take myself too seriously (I think it was Jazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzy's comment about enya (Thanks for the reminder Jazz))

Anyway, I went out and bought the wife a new laptop. I also picked up a wireless router so we can share the inet connection here at the house. It just so happened that while I was there I had to check out the Satch on CD.. I picked up"The Electric Joe Satriani" and "Is there love in space"..

I am geeking out man......

I have thawed some scallops out for dinner and to make it a absolutely great day, my monthly package from Mr. Mondavi's vinyard in Nappa came today FAR OUT!

So it's mood elevation, scallops, Mr Mondavi's master wine and Satch..AHHHHHH THE FINER THINGS IN LIFE.

I can't wait till my cherry get's poped this thursday night in Nashville.

gitarded boy-you need to come early to the show and find the manager of the venue and work it out with them. I remember couple of years back (KC - Uptown) they wouldn't let me out to get my guitar for Joe to sign it after the show...and than out of blue sky (or dark night) manager shows up, and she was nice enough, and instructed security folks to let me out and in. Funny thing, they didn't check my case at all, so I could as well bring in WMD, stupid a-holes :) anyways have fun, Joe will sign it for you gladly...

Just noticed today that Mike Mangini (x member of Vai's band) is all over Joss Stone's latest album. Programming, keys, drums and production. Wonder if he is all over Joss. Maybe the music isn't as challenging as playing with Steve but the fringe benefits are great....

Mr Nick - One of the reasons the software is expensive is because so many people steal it. If you steal it as well, you're just contributing to the problem.

If something is too expensive, just don't buy it...buy a cheaper product instead. A high price is not an invitation to steal.

cuthbert1776 - Thanks for the extra info about the Colts... :-)
rock around - Joe uses an original DigiTech WH-1 whammy pedal.
962 - I actually read news on BBC's website semi-regularly... I did a few recent searches (recent = today) and didn't see anything...

Sorry if it sounded like I think you made up the news, that's not what I meant. I'm thinking more along the lines of maybe you misheard something or missed a "It's nice to know that Bush hasn't..." or even a "I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Bush did..." preceding the comment...so the meaning would be slightly different. I still think that's probably the case, but we've beat this to death.

"that report could have been misled, but if that's the case I'd rather read "dude, I haven't found anything about that story anywhere else.....maybe there was a mistake""

That's what I tried to do with my first response (with the links and background info)...oh well.

"you never said "you're lying" but it was quite clear that that was what you meant."

Again...I was leaning towards misinterpretation or mishearing instead of lying. I guess that didn't come across very well...maybe I should stop trying to write posts in the few minutes before I have leave for class every morning / afternoon. ;-)

KoolKittenJess - I fly a few times a year...it's never really bothered me. Where exactly will you be flying? How long is the trip?

Bring a few of your favorite CDs and a magazine or two...if you stay busy, you'll forget that you're on a plane.

PRSguitarman - I don't think we'll see a G3 tour in the US for at least another year... We just had one in 2003. These international G3 tours seem to be a bit of an extension of that tour (even though the third "G" is different)...

...Austin...
