Delfino, Nuno Bettencourt is probably the best I can think of, with regards to exemplary material for arpeggios. He uses them to their best in a lot of Extreme solos, and they sound really cool.

If you can find some string-skipping examples learn them cause they sound awesome.....if not, let me know and I'll see if I can help out with tabbing some or something.

Arpeggios are something I need to work on too, but you should find them endlessly exploitable for all sorts of things. Apart from being the basis of sweeping, you can also slow them down drasticaly to write decent melodies which don't just sound like scales! For example, Love Thing uses bits of arpeggios, carefully structured to make that divine melody.

Austin, hehe, i'd totally forgotten that image overnight, but now, this morning, that i've read your post, it's come flooding back! Aaaaah! Damn sod and his twisted laws!

Clarky - I got the application form for that grant I was telling you about today; from the Music Sound Foundation. It's a thing set up by EMI. Hopefully, I'll get all the extra shit I need like the tutor references and written quotes by the end of this week so I can get it snt it off ASAP. Fingers crossed!!!

Michelle:thanks darlin,i figured as my partner had been so understanding as t allow me t go the full hog on music, the least i could do was give her a better place t live in.Needless t say shes totally made up.We,ve been livin in a shithole for the better part of 2 years & when it got the stage of walls startin t fall apart & small animals running around due t landlord incompetence...well,that gave the green light t get the F**k out.Could have renovated myself but its not my prob, typical crap y have t put up with when y dont own property.Gettin cable/lead/wire hell linked up & running smooth at mo,well... y know the score, been there done that, read the book, bought the t-shirt,lol

Ovation 1:Yo skipper, back from the storm? looked like hell let loose not just on US turf! Hope alls well with y bud

Zenfish:If y hit Barcelona, your more than welcome t crash here & i,d say that t anyone else i,ve come t know on this site.Would have t be a weekend visit cause i,m so knackered after work,However a Sat & Sun could be arranged, bring your geetar & i,ll arrange a jam sesh in the studio & live for the craic, better for me around Feb next year or after,i,ll look for your posts in t2j at mo cause i cant suss things out in spanish when it comes t computer failure due t virus, arghhhh

Hey Everyone. Back from Mexico. It was a very rewarding trip. I felt like I did a little good down there. It was interesting, I met a doctor from the town I went to, Oaxaca, and he does volunteer work with the farm workers here in Oregon! It was very ironic that the two of us were doing very similar things in each others countries because each country is too fucked up to take care of their own.

If any of you are planning to take a vacation. I would recommend going to Oaxaca. There are many interesting things to do, lots to see and the weather is good.

Well off to study. Nothing like two mid terms the day you get back from another country.

Late.

962 Hey thanks man I'll look around for some tabs, string skipping is apparently very hard so I suppose its best to start early :-)
And thanks for that golden nuggest of information, I really didn't know that about "Love Thing" yet its one of my favourite songs of all time :-)

Clarky From what I've read on your posts about Yngwie and his albums you seem to be knowledgable about him...I've been in a debate for a few days now about his technique for shredding, I've always thought he used alternate picking but recently I've been told he uses economic(sp?) picking?...Just wondering if you could clear that up for me. :-)

Do The Stu I got a 'C-' for the first draft of my G3 essay...not too bad, I don't think many people in my class of 8 got much higher their first drafts. There were pointers on it saying I needed to analyze more, but apparently the amount of research couldn't be faulted. :-)

Just thought you'd like to know...

Hi Joe! Loved your show in New Orleans, LA! Got the chance to actually meet you afterwards and this was quite special too. Looking to see when I can catch another show closeby. Thanks for sharing the time to talk and letting us see that personal side of you that is often times missed with just listening to your CD's or watching your DVD's. Should you ever come south again and need somewhere to hang out, give this southern girl an email! Thanks again for being so nice.

Laura
