Hey Joe, so ive been watching your live in denver DVD a lot recently, and i'm just wondering where you got your leather jacket from? It's so awesome that I wanna get one too! Could you give me any clue as to how much it was, or if its from an international store ? (like one in the UK as well as the US) Thanks - Jesse

@climber: thanks glad you like it! There is much know about Joe´s past and history but some very early days I was allways thinking for years what he was going through. For me today it is hard to imagine that a guy like him with so much obvious talent and all he has done so far ever had slow times in hi life or doubts about his career... so hearing a bit about that was very interesting. joe RULZ! :-)

Hey everyone... I haven't posted on this message board for a while, but I like to read and sometimes learn some interesting things about guitar or get referred to some great artists I haven't heard before.

This is a wonderful message board where we Satch fans can connect and share our thoughts about Joe Satriani's music, the guitar, or just music in general.

However... many people decide to fill this message board with the typical stuff you'd find anywhere else... like politics. Let me first start off by saying I've been a political junkie since 9/11... I mean I've followed everything and struggled and debated over a lot of issues.

But discussing things such as politics just isn't appropriate on this Joe Satriani message board and I think Joe himself would agree.

Notice how tons of popular "artists" got involved with politics in support of each candidate (though most notably Kerry)?

But when has anyone here EVER heard Joe Satriani speak out about his political views or try to endorse and advance some social(ist) agenda?

I've never heard it! Joe Satriani is not only a fantastic guitarist and musician, but moreover he has genuine musical integrity that's just unheard of in mainstream music.

Great music is the unifying interest that we all have and probably one of the few things we can agree on- and have a positive, uplifting discussion on- think about that... I know there's a lot of important stuff going on in the world right now but discussion in those areas is best suited for other sites. If you really do want to discuss politics and such now, I'd like to refer you to a great site for that which I frequent myself. Check it out...

http://www.beliefnet.com/boards/discussion_list.asp?boardID=425

My screen name there is "guitaraddict3." If anyone wants to discuss politics or whatnot there, you'll find hundreds (or thousands) of people from a wide variety of viewpoints, very interesting stuff... But please... let's focus on MUSIC a bit more when we're here...

After all, for many of us here music IS life!

P.S. Joe rules!

guitarnut- people will continue posting their minds here.

Joe's happy with this- it's a stream of consciousness where important issues are discussed. Musical and non-musical.

Yes... but music is our unifying interest and the purpose for this message board... you can get your political fix a million other places... but how many sites offer you a message board just for Satch fans around the world? Why divert when there's soooo many other sites for that stuff?

Obviously people ulimately have the freedom to say whatever they wish, I've no interest in silencing others' views or whatever... I just was trying to make a general, common sense appeal to get us focused back on the music...

I'm listening to samples from the T2J CD and I have to say I'm fairly impressed... that was a really a great concept! Who else would endorse a project like that for his fans other than Joe?

Gotta give credit to the individual artists though.... I think I may buy this :-)

Guitarnutt: Seems like you never participate in this board. Why are you telling us what to talk about when your participation is almost nothing? If you want to change it, get involved or get lost.

Benny, it looks like a nice relaxing place. I guess if somebody is going to stick you, they don't care where they do it. Do you have a lot of gun crime there? I think Jazzy needs a trip to the Hoo Hoo Hut next to Deadman's Hollow to forget about his B. Franklin dream. lol! Cool yer mum is listening in. I hope they make it to your show!

Jazzy, pack your bags and go to the Hoo Hoo Hut. lmao! Ask Benny for directions.

kundalini, my condolences on the death of your father. I'm glad you discovered Joe's music can sooth your soul. It's a beautiful thing.

I think there will be a house cleaning in the White House later this year or next year.

Powell has intentions of leaving and Rice may want to return to teaching.

Cheney - who knows. I thought it would have been good for Bush to drop Cheney (tell us medical reasons) and bring in a new VP, but that did not happen.

I also thought there would have been an October Surprise where Bush would all of a sudden find Bin Laden to cement his election - but apparently they haven't found him yet.

A change needs to be made in the Cabinet - but who and when, not sure.

Time will show.

About the Constitution - did you follow the IL Senate Race - Obama v. Keyes.

Keyes claims to be a big strict Constitutionalist.

What are your opinions on Keyes?

People in Illinois did not think much of Keyes nor did most Republicans in Illinois - he got toasted there. The Republican party there is in shambles - the Dems are in control there.

That is a good state which could be receptive of a 3rd party. One party control, the other party in ruins (their own fault - Gov Ryan and his buddies, for the most part).

I found this on MSNBC By Tom Curry

about a new democratic party leader

it may work

never know who would respond to a want ad

. . . consider a classified ad: “Wanted: Articulate, vigorous and optimistic Democrat with impeccable national security/ anti-terrorism credentials. Also must possess a demonstrated capacity to win votes in Southern and border states. Any resemblance to Franklin Roosevelt would be highly advantageous.”

Texas Story (Those Texans are really full of BS)

A Texan is drinking in a New York Bar.

He gets a call on his cell phone. He hangs up, grinning from ear to ear and orders a round of drinks for everybody in the bar because, he announces, his wife has just produced a typical Texan baby boy weighing 25 pounds.

Nobody can believe that any new baby can weigh in at 25 pounds, but the Texan just shrugs, "That's about average back home, folks. Like I said, my boy's a typical Texan baby boy."

Congratulations showered him from all around and many exclamations of "WOW!" were heard.

One woman actually fainted due to sympathy pains.

Two weeks later the Texan returns to the bar.

The bartender says "Say, you're the father of that typical Texan baby that weighed 25 pounds at birth, aren't you? Everybody's been makin' bets about how big he'd be in two weeks. We were gonna call you ... so how much does he weigh now?"

The proud father answers, "Seventeen pounds."

The bartender is puzzled and concerned. "What happened? He already weighed 25 pounds the day he was born."

The Texan father takes a slow swig from his Lone Star, wipes his lips on his shirt sleeve, leans in to the bartender and proudly says, "Had him circumcised."

:)

Elton John Developing Rock-Star TV Comedy

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Elton John (news) is making his first foray into series television by developing an ABC comedy about an aging rock superstar and the people around him, Daily Variety reported in its Thursday edition.

The flamboyant musician told the Hollywood trade paper that the as-yet-untitled show would not be based on himself but rather a mix of other fellow pop icons like Rod Stewart (news), Mick Jagger (news), Freddie Mercury (news) and David Bowie (news).

"It's not about me, but about everybody we've encountered over the past 30 years," it quoted him as saying. "We've met every star and seen every misbehavior. And it's about the people around the star, who have to put up with them. It's an upmarket 'Spinal Tap."'

Daily Variety said John's longtime business manager Bob Halley came up with the basic concept about three years ago, and his boss warmed to the idea. Songwriter Bruce Roberts, producer Michael Edelstein and "Sex and the City" screenwriter Cindy Chupack eventually entered the mix.

A full history is being developed for the rock star character -- including music spanning the '70s, '80s, '90s and today. John has already written a song for the project, "Him and Us," which will appear on his 43rd album "Peachtree Road," due in U.S. stores on Tuesday.

John, 57, as well known for his luxury lifestyle and temper tantrums as for a 35-year string of hits, earlier this year kicked off a Las Vegas revue that will run periodically for three years.

Star Wars Fans

If you are a member of Hyperspace (if you want to pay to be a fan of a star wars web site - I do not) you can download the trailer sometime today.

Or you can go see The Incredibles this weekend (I will) and the trailer will be before the movie.

If you don't want to see The Incredibles - it is supposed to be on Entertainment tonight (or some show like that tonight) and be available for free download next week from the starwars web site.

Looks like Kobe cannot carry the Lakers all by him self - he got exactly what he wanted.

He scored nearly 1/2 the points for the Lakers and still couldn't carry the team.

Not that I liked Shaq that much - but together they were pretty good

Two stoners were having barbecue chicken at a local hotspot when suddenly the lady at the next table starts choking and turning purple. One of the stoners takes command " Clear the way, stay back we know how to handle this!" At that point the other dude drops his pants and gets down on all fours directly in front of the woman who is by now convulsing on the floor. The second stoner goes behind the first and plants a long tongue wipe up the others a-hole! The lady jerked violently a couple of times and then coughed violently projecting a chicken bone across the room.

The two stoners stand up and one says to the crowd " Gotta love that Hindlick Manouver, it works every time!!!"

Do not try this at home....

Yes it is interesting/disburbing how many things the fed govt is involved in - you only named the big items. Their position is that they are protecting us from each other or from big business (I am not defending the position).

I have said for some time that social security should be given a drop dead date - meaning, we will continue to support it until, lets say 2050. After that date, gone, done, stick a fork in it. So that now, we can plan for our own futures. It will also protect our grandparents, parents, ect who currently rely or plan to rely on that income when they retire.

Now, SSD needs to remain for the time being as well as unemployment, at least for now.

SS is such a scam. They are "borrowing" against our future - the money isn't there - it used to be - the money that came was in its own account to pay benefits - now it is part of the general fund.
