Dr Mindcrime - Remastering is done to enhance sound quality.

The process you described (messing with panning and stuff like that) is remixing.

Joe's albums have been remastered, not remixed.

JS JS: I like 80s shit to anything really but mostly the shit with guitars. The players that came out of the 80s set the bar for guitar playing realy high in technicality. This may sound weird but I like the regional mexican music like the rancheras, romanticas and pop music that came out back then. The way the soungs are mixed down and mastered is haunting. It sounds like you're hiding in a shower of some chics girls house who has lost her love and is getting ready to kill herself but shes just gonna let it all out one last time before she goes. You just want to jump out and say No, dont do it! I'll love you baby, it can't be that bad. There is so much emotion in those type of songs. Thats actualy where I get some of my inspiration for my dive bombs and string bends for my solos from. It's pretty cool.

It seems God chose you to be a music man joe,and you play with all your skill, from the heart. That's where God speaks,To The Heart. THAT is what I enjoy about your music. It comes from the heart!

Thanks for ALL of the, "Strange Beautiful Music"that you play. It's AWESOME! Arroph

I was just looking at a promo clip of Eric Clapton's Crossroads guitar festival...the one where he invited a bunch of guitarists from all genres of music. I took note of the event because Clapton invited both Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to play (...in addition to a bunch of other renowned artists).

But why wan't Satriani there? Can you truly have a rock/blues guitar festival and not invite Joe Satriani? I mean, Vince Gill is a fine musician and all...but what the heck is going on here ???

I am reserving my opinion on this until I get more information. Maybe Joe was actually asked to join the festival, but was on tour and couldn't make the date. I hope that was the reason. But if he wasn't invited, then maybe Eric Clapton doesn't really know diddly about guitar.

Woohoo...I'm listening to Jordan Rudess' Rhythm Of Time. It's an awesome album...everyone needs to go buy it (How many times have I said that, now?).

Dr Mindcrime - Instead of typing out a longer detailed thing about the differences between remixing and remastering, I did a quick Google search and came across this. Ignore the references to specific CDs...the page is actually about some band. Scroll down to the "Technicalities Part 2" section, and read the "Remixing and Remastering" bit...
achoo - Ah, okay... EOC is also one of my favorite Satch CDs. Champagne? is actually my favorite track on it...LOL. I also REALLY like Until We Say Goodbye, but I prefer the techno version from Additional Creations over the EOC version.

Sorry...I don't know what scale Joe uses in the part of TPC2K(PI) (LOL...what an abbreviation) you're talking about. Maybe Clarky or matt king or someone can help you there...

bahduh - Hi... If you are able to email me some pictures of your son, I can temporarily host them on my website so other T2Jers can see them (if you want everyone here to see the pictures, that is...hehe).

Stu Hamm has not played with Satch since the G3 2001 tour. At the time, Joe wanted to move in a different musical direction. Among other things, Stu wanted to take a break to spend more time with his baby daughter. Satch recorded SBM and ITLIS? with Matt Bissonette on bass.

Yes, Z.Z. plays bass on Bamboo (just part of it, though...not the whole song).

I got your email...I'll respond to those questions (about LTE and some other stuff) there, instead of posting them here.

Mobility - It's possible that Eric Clapton just isn't all that familiar with Joe's music...I don't know. EJ was probably there because of the Texas connection and Vai might have been there just because of his industry connections (owning a record label).

I think the event took place a few weeks before the start of the G3 tour. Maybe Joe was on vacation with his family or something. Maybe he was asked but just didn't want to do it.

If you don't know who Satch is it doesn't mean you don't know anything about the guitar. Don't be mad at Clapton. ;-)

Farhan69 - Hi...welcome to the site. Joe usually stops by every so often, but he hasn't been here in several months.

...Austin...

Hi all. 8 pages behind, but I wanted to comment on something that appeared "Sunday". In regard to a title for a new live DVD, forget love in space, how about "Will There Be Joe In Australia?"

Wow I finally found my post from yesterday. 4 more to go?!?

Michelle: that is a bunch of crap. Absolutely no respect. Pure selfishness with no regard for other people. I don't really care who is in Government if kids can run around and shoot people for bunches of crap like that. (Unless they have the ability to stop it, or are the cause for the problem.)

Farhan: hi. Welcome to the site. For information on the CD, click on the "Click here" near the top of the screen. Joe does drop by every now and then, but he's been away for a few months.

My favourite Satch albums for whichever various reasons are usually Surfing With the Alien, or Crystal Planet.

Well that took a long time. I'm hungry. Happy birthday to Mum. BEN

If you recall the number of ways to give change for a dollar in US currency posted by Zinc Master the other day, FYI (if you are interested) I just calculated that there are 50 ways to give change for a dollar in Australian currency. (5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1)

Austin: check out our messages to Farhan ...

I made a counting error. Good old MS Excel.

YNGWIE MALMSTEEN Loses Over 50 Pounds, Becomes A 'Health Nut' - Nov. 9, 2004

The following message was sent earlier today (Nov. 9) to YNGWIE J. MALMSTEEN fan club members from the fan club's director, Anne Petty:

"Just got off the phone with Yngwie. Had a wonderful chat for a little over an hour, and got quite a few questions answered for the next newsletter. The new album is mixed, and he is just working on the sequencing of tracks before it is mastered. I know the album title, but I'm not allowed to tell. It might leak out anyway, but I'll say no more until he gives me the green light on that. This album will be quite long, with many different moods and styles of songs.

"He was very upbeat, in a great mood, can't wait to get out on the road early next year to promote this new effort. Says he's in great health — has turned into a health nut, no alcohol, no cigarettes, lots of tennis and working out. Has lost over 50 pounds. It's all good!"

A photo of the newly slimmed down Yngwie can be seen on the ebay acution page for the 1996 Malmsteen Model Fender Stratocaster which he is currently selling.

Zinc Master : about the crisis in Ivory Coast... One of my friends is American and she lives in France (Actually she comes from Portland, Maine). She told me that in the US they don’t know a lot of things about what’s going on all over the world... So I guess that’s why you had no idea that problems were taking place in Ivory Coast. You have to use the internet network to know it.

This is a british report :

“Operation Unicorn, the French military presence in the Ivory Coast, attracted little international attention until an outburst of weekend violence which included the deaths of nine French soldiers, the retaliatory destruction of the country's tiny air force and the killing of 50 Ivorien demonstrators by French troops. This is a crisis with an old-fashioned colonial feel but one which is attracting as much media attention in France as Iraq currently does in Britain.”

And about the beer stuff (Yeah it was two days ago) This is what I found :

Yesterday, scientists for Health Canada suggested that, considering the results of a recent analysis that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer, men should reconsider their beer consumption.

The theory is that drinking beer makes men turn into women. To test the theory, 100 men were fed six pints of beer each within a one-hour period. It was then observed that 100% of the men gained weight, talked excessively without making sense, became overly emotional, couldn't drive, failed to think rationally, argued over nothing and refused to apologize when wrong. No further testing is planned....

The Bob: Yngwie looks better with blubber on his face. When I saw him live on the G3 tour, I was expecting to see a skinny guy. But when he skid on stage and started shredding, dude, I had the laugh of a lifetime. Not only was he amazing to hear, but he looked like such a clown that it became even more fun to watch. So, I like the fat Yngwie, not the phat Yngwie!

Clarky: Unleashed in the East, I will definitely check out the album. In fact, I will be out to buy it today. I have liked JP but never heard much. I did hear somewhere that even Metallica layers their tracks, I guess most musicians do. Are there any specific riffs you learnt when you started playing? The first riff I ever learnt was Black Sabbath Children of the Grave. Thats another secret I am trying to unlock. The key to being simple. Megadeth's Holy Wars...The Punishment Due has some really kick ass riffs. Have you ever heard it? Maybe you can do a cover version...would like to hear it!
