I started playing Sim City 4 again this week...it is SO addicting...LOL. Does anyone else here play that game? It's not the same as Halo or GTA, but it's still fun... ;-)
Noppa - I agree with you... I don't want to see that stuff and I don't like it, but millions of other people in the US do like it.
If a media organization stops reporting that stuff, it WILL lose its audience (as long as everyone else is still reporting it). There's no way around it... Everyone would have to make the change (move away from that kind of reporting) at the same time to keep people from losing their audience.
I don't like that side of journalism (I don't want to work in that area after I graduate...), but it's there...and there's not much that can be done about it until the general public "wakes up" so to speak. I honestly don't see that happening any time soon, though.
bahduh - DamIMissNamm's "weak, low-life cowards" comment was referring to the suicide bombers who are linked to Hamas. Strapping explosives to yourself and killing a bunch of innocent people because you disagree with their way of life or their nation's government or military is one of the most cowardly things you can do.

I don't have an X-Box, so I won't be playing Halo 2 again anytime soon. The only reason I played it on Tuesday was because someone who works for my school's paper brought a six-inch television, an X-Box, and Halo 2 to the newsroom for the day. ;-)
I just bought Halo for PC a few months ago...I'll be happy with that game for at least another six months or so.

achoo, yeah my Bass student is no problem - I started him with Octaves, Major and Pentatonic scales, but my new guitar student is more tricky......he's really really beginner.....I started by showing him how to tune the guitar from string-to-string, which took about 15 minutes, then gave him E, A and G chords which took the other 45 minutes. As I suspected, teaching a beginner is much harder than teaching somebody with a little experience!
Delfino, yeah man, I just got to the bit where you're the arbiter and you're encountering the Flood again....gone down the long, long circular lift and am upstairs of a rectangular room with lotf of Flood in! hehe.
I've been listening out for the Vai bits...they rock, I think I'll probably get the soundtrack!
Oh, as I understand it, any time you hear a guitar in Halo 2, it's Steve playing it.
Zinc Master, funnily enough, shortly after I sent my mail saying "fuck off" in response, I got 10 - 20 mails a day in my bulk folder, from these random addresses, for about 2 weeks. I e-mailed yahoo! mail services about it and I thinky they must have sorted it, cause I just get about 2 a day now which is average! Yahoo! Mail is ace......they upgraded my mail account to 100mb for free.....WTF?!
Austin, yeah the game soundtrack is peppered with stuff from Dr Vai, it's really cool.
Now that Palestine is minus it's leader, is this going to be the opportunity that Bush takes to flatten palestine and let his friends in Israel take the West Bank?
I'm unsure myself, cause there's a not a whole lot of Oil in Palestine.....

do the stu - my friend got halo 2 yesterday and brought it round, had a good bit of fun playing- didn't get to hear any Vai though...
What do you mean you'll be happy with halo for another 6 months!?!?! Half-Life 2 will be out on Tuesday!

Hello all. I was just curius if anyone could offer their opinion on a great distortion pedal. I know the Satch, Vai, and Paul Gilbert use DS-1's, but I was also told that's just to boost their sound. I jammed on a DS-1 through a Marshall and I didn't like it's sound at all, maybe it's just me. I currently use a Ibanez TS9 Tube screamer for a nice warm sound to put out my melodies with. I need some inputs of great distortion pedals that offer lots of tone. Now that I have created a signature tone for my "beautiful" sound, I need advice on a mean, lean, and kickin' tone. I don't want a metal sound. I'm goin' for a Satch / Vai / Eric Johson-esque sound. Thanks guys.

Joe uses some FullTone products (a little expensive) , but goin to your local Music store & tryin them out might be your best bet, as one Man's sound is another Man's screeeeeech!

Thanks for the input man. I know he uses a Fulltone Ultimate Octave, but I can't try it out unless I order one a buy one. The price is around $250 and I don't want to waste that much and not like it.
As far as local guitar shop, I have a Guitar Center right by me. Go there all the time. I don't like any of the BOSS dostortions because they come out really dirty. I want a crystal clear screamin' lead tone. I am also avoiding Digitech products. The only distortions I like are one's built in digital amps. Which I am trying to stray from, so I can create my own sound. I appreciate the input though. Thanks bro, keep on rockin'.

Slash Rose - I see you're from Guanajuato. My sisiter went down last year and did two terms at the university. It was amazing to hear her almost non-existent Spanish blossom into an easily formulated conversation. She said the city was great with the exception of the altittude sickness. I was just down in Oaxaca. Can't wait to go back. I really want to work with kids more and help with education so that the children can be better off than the parents. Isn't that what every parent wants?
Do the Stu - People that I know at school are into Sim City. I hang with transportation and planning people. I myself have never really got into it. I do play around with the other software called VISSIM. It is a modeling program for trans and planning. It's fun especially since I didn't have to pay the 20 grand for it.
Arafat - It's not surprising that there are many different sides to the feelings on Arafat's life. Was he a hero? To some Was a terrorist? To others. It all comes down to were your perspective. It also comes down to the fact that of all the people in the wolrd the ones that teach tolerence (insert religion here) seem to be the ones that are the most intolerent. The circle of intolerence between the Muslims, Jews and Christians. Many of the problems in the middle east could be solved if there wasn't this underlying hatred for someone else only on the basis of religion. It is truley stupid.
