Optical Studio, you forgot to mention our Canadian Jazzstress Joni Mitchell in your Metheney list. I was just watching a fantastic DVD the other day (live somewhere outdoors in Burbank circa late '70ies) with Pat, Jaco, Brecker Lyle Mays and Don Alias on drums. Worth a look!!

OCPS470, thanks for checkin out my stuff man, and I'm glad you liked The Eye Of Ra. re your question; no that's my Cravin legacy, tho I have to say it's not really the amp that is responsible for the tone - it's mostly the pickups (same as joe's), the Bad Horsie Wah and the Boss MD-2. For the other tracks, I used the Marshall Bluesbreaker instead of the Boss - I think the marshall is a slightly fatter sound with smoother bass, but that is also why it's a bit muddy on those tracks.
I have to use the pedals for tone at the moment - I can't have the amp loud (ie. on the dirty channel) cause i'm using the voiced line out on the back of the head, and it's going straight into my soundcard! I will, at some point, get a small (8 track, 4 output) mixer, and then just use a pair of mic's for recording, but until then, I gotta do it all at low volume! Bearing that in mind, i'm actually fairly happy with the tone!
Delfino, Janet Sreet-Porter used to be a very active feminist, but, like Germaine Greer, has chilled out considerably in recent years.
Zenfish, hey thanks for checkin my songs out man! Also, I dunno...i disagree on Timmons....I certainly don't think he's the same as SRV, he's a totally different kind of character, but when he chooses to, he can add a very distinct flavour of Stevie-Ray's playing to his songs, but still keeps it in an Andy style! It's cool
jelly man, yeah it's cool....have you taken the time to read through what he's actually saying? I didn't understand it all, but man, it's pretty crazy.....poor guy seems to have had a, shall we say 'bumpy', ride?!

962 She was considerably rude to Paul Burrel yesterday, when she was saying "you probably don't know how to cook, you've only ever had to serve the food."...that was a bit harsh and uncalled for, she doesn't know what he has or hasn't done and as he stated in their diary room of sorts he is actually a qualified french chef...so she can stick that up her arse and smoke it.
Joe Pasquali to win :-)

Zen, I agree with 962 re Andy T. I was fortunate enough to see him play three sets with his "Pawn Kings" band and Andy is a very diverse player who yes, can do the SRV thing but he can also do the Gary Moore emotional thing and the Santana thing and so on. He also has a very full bag of tricks and sounds. A very "modern" player to say the least. He even cranked out some Wes Montgomery style jazz chordings when I saw him. All with the same Ibanez and a small Laney amp (plus plenty of pedals I am sure)....
By the way 962, saw your post on the "Andy" board. Keep up the good work...

opticalstudio: Hi there! All is going well for me. How are you? Yeah, I'm actually thinking of going to racing school. I just want to ask around if it's really worth it, because it doesn't come cheap at all!! I have to start saving for it if I'm doing a course.
F1 season ended with a bang and I'm all excited about the 2005 season already! All these driver/team changes and new regulations going on will makes things interesting. Did you hear about the Japan Grand Touring Championship doing a special run at California? It'll be around Dec. 12, I think. That's going to be interesting too!

Some obscure things still outstanding on the mikesb "ToDo" list:
1) A day of snowboarding with Joe followed by an apres-ski jam.
2) Sneak into Pere Lachaise cemetary after closing and smoke some pot with the "others" assembled around Jim Morrison's resting place.
3) Visit Tasmania
4) Visit Phil Lynott's final resting place and later hoist a pint to his memory at his statue in Dublin
5) Get some up to date recording software and post some tunes on a webpage.

962: you ought to look into getting a THD Hotplate. It will let you run the amp at "11" but allows you to damp down the volume (that's how I was able to get the SRV type tones on the SRH tune I did, because I had the clean channel of a LOUD 40watt fender cranked all the way on everything haah!)...it has a line out, so potentially you could run out of the amp into the THD then into the soundcard with no problems. They run around $300 but are great products!
DCK: Wow! That's great man! I can't wait for everything to go through, because I think this will revive the excitment outside of this forum for the project. I think when that happens we'll at least be able to sell a couple hundred more for the redcross.

DCK, with all the hard work you have put in you of all people gotta have a tune on there and you should have the artistic license to swap Corridorz with one of your newer better recorded pieces if you so desire!!!

ZENFISH- Baluchitherium is the only good hagar era song ed did in my opinion.... it's easily my favorite piece of work by ed, that and respect the wind...... it's a shame he doesnt do more solo instrumental stuff cause he could really put some great stuff out.... but i still dont think he can play like joe or steve, it's just not his style....not only that but he had to RElearn a lot of his old stuff for this latest tour..... he said it took him a while to get used to playing it again, i just dont see ed playing surfing with the alien..... or mystical potato head groove thing.... hell joe even has a tough time once in a while with that song himself.....

Chron, thanks for the info on the transportation in San Fran! I'm sure we'll find a way to make it to the concert just fine, and afterwards, who cares? We'll probably float back to the hotel anyway!!
Do The Stu: yeah, that sounds very logical and right....I guess we can just hope and dream for the second night of concerts in San Fran!!
Good day all!
