V-AMP2...for those who are wondering how well they work live the answer is great! i used mine over the last couple weekends with great results. i use a marshall vs100 when i play live and the v-amp marshall sound was better than the vs100 with a quadraverb and a chorus unit for effects. i set up lead and rhythm channels and footswitched between them. i used 8 different amp modeled sounds throughout the night and they all worked great. the trick is to set up a rhythm and a lead channel using the same amp model and then you can switch from rhythm to lead without dropouts

Nearly Half of Britons Unaware of Auschwitz -Poll

LONDON (Reuters) - Nearly half of Britons in a poll said they had never heard of Auschwitz, the Nazi death camp in southern Poland that became a symbol of the Holocaust and the attempted genocide of the Jews.

The results of the survey conducted by the BBC were released on Thursday as Britain's public broadcaster announced it will show a new series next January to mark the 60th anniversary of the concentration camp's liberation.

"We were amazed by the results of our audience research," said Laurence Rees, a producer on the series, "Auschwitz: The Nazis & the 'Final Solution."'

"It's easy to presume that the horrors of Auschwitz are engrained in the nation's collective memory, but obviously this is not the case," Rees said.

The survey found that 45 percent of those surveyed had not heard of Auschwitz. Historians estimate that anywhere from one million to three million people, about 90 percent of them Jews, were killed there.

Among women and people younger than 35, 60 percent had never heard of Auschwitz, despite the recent popularity of films such as "Schindler's List," "Life is Beautiful" and "The Pianist," which depict the atrocities of the Holocaust.

"The name Auschwitz is quite rightly a byword for horror, but the problem with thinking about horror is that we naturally turn away from it," Rees said.

The BBC said the research was based on a nationally representative postal survey of 4,000 adults 16 and older.

The broadcaster is marking Holocaust Memorial Day, January 27, with a variety of television and radio programs.

The Auschwitz series for BBC2 is based on nearly 100 interviews with survivors and perpetrators and is the result of three years of research with the assistance of professors Ian Kershaw and David Cesarani.

Clarky: I think the thing I like best about Python is that they'll make a bad pun, and then immediatley yell at themnselves about how stupid the pun was! For ex in holy grail "...it says the castle uggggggg.....he must have died.." "come on, he sat there and wrote that" haha!

DannyK: Congrats man! I hope you hit the big time! Do you get to rip in this band, or is it more of a traditional side man gig?

Clarky, DCK, 962, and anyone else: Have you guys ever tried out the carvin Nomad amps? I heard a demo of one and it sounds like one of the most amazing amps! It seems to be able to go from a fende deluxe type vintage clean tone to a really fluid high gain sound.

Delfino, haha, so yours went to the gum-ripping school of dentistry too? man, I once went for a chekup and discovered that my regular dentist (a nice polite aussie bloke) had gone, and had been replaced by a young woman. She didn't introduce herself...she just raided my mouth with the sharpest probe ever concieved.....I never went back to the dentist.....I know how to brush my teeth! hehe. Bitch may have just graduated the gum-ripping school of dentistry, but she could at least have told me her damn name before she tore my face half apart!

OCPS470, carvin Nomad? Dude I've not even heard of it! The only Nomad I heard of was a Mesa Boogie Nomad, which is the fattest portable amp you've heard! hehe, it's hilarious.....it's equivelant to....I dunno.....a mouse opening it's mouth and the sound of a barking German Shepherd dog coming out it's mouth!
Joe, can I take some advice on teaching beginners (if you got time)? When you first taught Steve, he had no clue how to play a guitar and you had to show him how to re-string it etc etc.....how did you key into what motivated him and how did you get him started? Also, the really important thing I need help on - helping a kid to learn to hold the pick in the right way?!

Speaking of picks....I hope you still got my dad's Fender Thin kicking around! Take it easy Joe, keep on rocking!

Clarky, you can have it any colour, as long as it's....

I sometimes wonder - if full colour had have been invented when the model T was made, would Henry have offered it in anything from the RGB spectrum? haha

Of course, snooker balls were all grey until colour was invented!

Anyway, cool custom job, bet it was costly, especially that neck!

962 I used to be a really hot-headed youngster who get pissed off at the simplest of things...luckily I matured and I'm so relaxed people think I'm drunk most of the time...

Moving on, I topped my stupidest thing of the day....I wanted to numb my gums with an ice cube...baaaaaaaad idea, it didn't hurt my gums at all...infact it worked, however it got stuck to my lips and my tongue and I am now missing pieces of them Ž______________________Ž....not my day today lol.

Me Tommy, you Angelina

Tommy Lee apparently plans to show actress Angelina Jolie that he has a Neanderthal streak. As the New York Daily News notes, Lee says in the January issue of Elle Magazine that he and Jolie have never met but if they do, "I swear to God I'm going to tackle her and lick her and hit her over the head and drag her back to my house, caveman-style." No word from Jolie as to how that charming introduction would go over.

Joe, I did not know that the premium ticket sales for the states went off the web site so soon. Is there any way to get one of the $200 packages? I would really like to get to meet you and get an autograph :-)

Thanks, David

Joe... nothing can describe ur music. I had bought your "strange beautiful music" cd awhile back and was just amazed by your progressions and your melodies. since i have listened to that cd over and over again i have bought all of your cds and not one of them has been under par. i love "is there love in space, and not of this earth" i recently bought the satch tapes and learned about you and your past and all i can say is wow. my friend from arizona and i were in oregon and i played your cd and he already knew quite alot about you and steve vai and turned me on to yngwie, but for the rest fo the car drive home i listened to your cd the entire time. IM pretty sure my dad was fed up with me because all i was talking about was you. haha i know i pretty much sound obsessed but nothing i can say can describe the way i fell when i listen to your music. i ams eeing you in concert at the war field on December 26th and since i found out that i got tickets all i have been telling people is how excited i am to hear you... please respond evan chapman

HEY!!!!!:: First of all, thax for the oportunity to xpress my self. Thanks for that unforgetable night. U 3 guys were exceptional. I was so excited!!! I have to confese that I moved from my seat in the roal 19, to the 3th one with my friends. And ja ja ja security didnīt notice.

Well, first Fripp. He was good, but I expected more.I was amazed with his intro, a liitle bit long but with a lot of meaning. I cheer his style, being alone, playing so calm. Heīs cool...

Vai was amazing, I almost cried. I never expect to be so close to him, but I did it. All the time, he was infront of me. I was like in heaven. Great Begining with I Know Youīre Here, and monstruos final with for The Love of God. THANX SO MUCH FOR MAKING ME FEEL ALIVE. HHAAAAA!!!!! AND ALSO FOR THROWING YOUR PICKS, I GOT 2!!!!!!!!

Satch was great also, maybe I was tired of seating in the floor but I enjoy a lot his music Whatever, u r a great guy.THAX A LOT

I suggest you to INVITE JAZZMEN to play with you, I think IT CAN BE THE MOST POWERFUL FUSION. maybe ALLAN HOLDSWORTH, FRANK GAMBALE, or JHON SCOFIELD. PLEASE! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

AND DONīT FORGET TO VISIT MEXICO AGAIN SOON!!!!!!

Joe I have been a piano player since i have been about six, and i cant read music so i have been playing songs by ear. your music has inspired me to become an instrumental pianist. i mostly play keypboards, but since i have bought my new mizer board i have laid down basic melodies and put more distinctive melodies i=over them kinda like what you do in alot of your songs, i have learned just about every song on every cd of yours except for "engines of creation."...so your work has most definately inspired me to be a better musician

Thanks for answering. There's obviously a lot to talk about Lenny . I don't know very much about him, I saw a documentary about him on TVO a couple years ago ("Masterworks" program) and I keep thinking about him, since. So when I see you guys mentioning guitarplayers like Metheny , DiMeola, Django... I feel like shouting : What about Lenny? So I am glad that I'm not the only one here who knows who Lenny was... I mean his technique is beyond reach, but there's something else about his playing : he's got soul, that's rare for a jazz player (maybe Larry Carlton Is the only one who comes close in that) . When I put his CD on, and the notes fill up the room, something magical happens: time stops and it feels like I'm somewhere else, in a special place...

Cabin Fever is a good one, you can find a couple more now that Randy Bachman released a few more. Live at Bourbon Street (with Dave Young) is also good.

Good night
