Hi Joe, I was excited to hear that you're coming back to Australia. On the other hand, when I found out that your Melbourne gig is an over 18s event, I was very upset as I have a 14 year old nephew that's just getting into guitar, and can't bring him there. I'd love for him to see you live as I have in the past, and show him how much fun you have while playing, and how much fun it is to watch you play. We missed out on Steve Vai last year for the same reason, and I just can't bring myself to come see you without him. We saw ACDC a couple of years ago which really was the first concert that sparked his interest in guitar, and was hoping to expand on this. Anyway, I hope you have a great tour, and hopefully will see you back another time, but not this time. :-( Steve

Joe's probably on his way to the airport now, leaving Sao Paulo, and I already crave for the idea of having another show here. In Joe's two visits to Brazil, he's started to create a respect and linking for instrumental rock that was not greatly spread in the country. Warm regards from Brazil

michelle, haha, that is so f*ck*n adorable...."I hate hamsters. Especially hamsters with wings". I really wanna put that in the middle of a song - I dunno, maybe an instrumental, where everything suddenly stops and you just hear that vocal, and then the music carries on again! hehe.

We once went on a family holiday to france when I was a lot younger, and my siter and I had to share a room in this hotel. It was rediculously hot when we got there, so we left the window wide open while we went out to dinner. We came back to ouyr room a few hours later and there was a bat flying round in circles. the room was really small too, but it was awesome, cause it flew silently and even tho the lights weren't on, it didn't hit anything....I guess sonar really works then! hehe

jazzzzzy, haha, I see, so that's why you put "simon OWNS Stuart Hamm". haha, no i'm not a bassist at all, but I teach a bassist, cause the theory is basically the same! I wish I could play bass. one day I will get one and i'll learn to!
VFRocker, man that's optimism for you - I'm thinking that 2005 could be the year of a Parker.................... (and possibly a divorce !!!! lmao)

Parkers are crazy guitars....I respect them, though i'm not sure they're my thing. The funny thing is, they're often forgotten, and until someone mentions them, you can completely forget they exist. I'd like to properly try one some day and find out what they're like to play in anger, cause I gather they're pretty awesome!

Yeah it's good to have goals! Right now i'm annoyed at my guitar-buying history. I'm still happy with my RG, but I wish that instead of buying the Jem at the best part of 2 grand, i'd have spent the equivelant on a Gibson 335. Also, with Fender's Eric Johnson signature Strat coming out next year, i'm going to be sorely wanting one of those....vintage has fast become my 'thing', just for the tone! My RG is a keeper tho.

But it needs to see the doctor! hehe, you can hear it on some of my tracks I recorded - the tuning and intonation waver quite noticeably, cause the trem post are pitted and I think the knife-edge is f*ck*d. Oh well, more money to wax on the upkeep of a guitar! grrr

Clarky, man I know Chris Peters can tell you all about an Air Zone! I guess playing left-handed makes it tricky to try out guitars to hear their pickups - I would suggest trying a Paul Gilbert model, but you may find that somewhat tricky. I think the PGM had a Tone Zone or Air Norton or something in the bridge, and it sounds ace.

It depends what tone you want, but considering that you like the sound of your PAF7, I'm sure you'd like the tone of an Air Zone. Chris told me it's got a nice smooth sound with lots of character, and it has a big, wide response to dynamics, which is exactly the sort of thing I like, cause it's more natural than something that sounds compressed, like the active EMG's in...say... a Luke model, a JPM or a KH.

I dont know why I woke up so early. I just took a shower and had 2 sizzling cups of steaming coffee and I feel fresh. Kiwi is still dozing and I think its time to wake his canine ass up and go for a walk in the cold. Listening to The mighty turtle head. That song is so tight. I think I'll have some oatmeal and granola for breakfast. Too lazy to make a real breakfast. Monday morning blues. *yawn*

962: now I see the light...you're a guitarist!!! maybe I should change it too 962 OWNS Van Halen!!! hells yeah!!!

Zen, have I seen a "Scotland eruption"? Don't know, but there are three choices

1) Brian Robertson in any pub

2)Pyrotechnics at a Nazareth concert

3)Larry Coryell flaming on the track "Scotland" (written by Jack Bruce) on his "Live at the Village Gate" LP..

Which one did you have in mind?

Clarky, the "Exiles" (edit) version on that tribute CD appears to be from around '96 or '97, not a lot of detail in the liners. This is the CD. There is in this particular "edit" mostly electric violin soloing and some nice acoustic guitar near the end of the edit. A cool song tho and I suspect you are going to have a lotta work prepping for a 50% Crimson gig!!! Lots going on in those tunes huh?? Someone will have to let "Shogun Vai Mikeysan know you are going to the Rising Sun!!!

Tracie, I can see the mental scars from that spider are still there. lmao! Man, that's so nasty! Funny thing is, I would act like that if it happened to me today! lol! eeuuwww!

climber, I'm patiently waiting for that rat story. lol!

bahduh, I'm fine thanks. My daughter had a good nights sleep downstairs on the sofa. I'll change her bedding while she's at school, and maybe she'll sleep in her room tonight. lol! How are you my friend?

VFR, the kids will have a good story to tell today at school, that's for sure. lol! My childhood bat story was much more traumatic. lol! I was at a sleepover with a bunch of girls. We were little, younger than 9 for sure, and we had our sleeping bags and blankets laid out up in the attic. I don't even remember who's party it was, or where it was. I do remember seeing something swooping around, everyone screaming, and then pain in my head. Somehow I got wacked with a stuffed animal that had a wind up key in it to play music. I got a nice little hole in the top of my head, and to this day, I can still see the little scar if I part my hair a bit off center. LOL! I had much more fun with this bat then I did with that one. LOL! Funny story about you and your friend. LOL!

SupaaDave, ha! Thanks! Yeah, not to much to laugh about at 4:30 in the morning. lol! Glad I could help.

jazzy, watch what you wish for. lol! How would you get a bat out of your apartment? No help from the dog, either. lol!

Simon, name that tune "The Bat". lol! I listened to (I just forgot the name...) Eye of Ra is it? Nice tune. Listened to Time Bomb again too. Wait, did I screw up that title? I have music playing on T.V. and it's very distracting. lol! Anyways, it reminds me of something that could have been in The Grinch movie or a Brian Setzer tune. Good stuff!

Lucky Blonde

A blonde goes into a restaurant and notices there's a "Peel and Win" sticker on her coffee cup.

So she peels it off and starts screaming, "I've won a motorhome! I've won a motorhome!"

The waitress says, "That's impossible. The biggest prize is a free lunch."

But the blonde keeps on screaming, "I've won a motorhome! I've won a motorhome!"

Finally, the manager comes over and says, "Ma'am, I'm sorry, but you're mistaken. You couldn't have possibly won a motorhome because we didn't have that as a prize!"

The blonde says, "No, it's not a mistake. I've won a motorhome!" And she hands the ticket to the manager and he reads ....

More Wisdom from Will Rodgers

ABOUT GROWING OLDER... First ~ Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

Second ~ The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

Third ~ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Fourth ~ When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra.

Fifth ~ You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

Sixth ~ I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.

Seventh ~ One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young.

Eighth ~ One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.

Ninth ~ Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

Tenth ~ Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today it's called golf.

And finally ~ If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you are old.

Zenfish,

Crossroads seems likes it's out of gas to me too, Buddy Guy was the only guy that had a spark aside from John Mayer of all people....no disrespect intended.

My girlfriend thought it was kinda gay to tell you that, but your Frenchness affected my sad blue side, not that you're sad.

I'm man enough to show my soft underbelly....figuratively speaking. lol

Cheese,

If you'd like a taste of my website my webpage www.stevetrott.com is now on the web. http://www.stevetrott.com

cheesey....thanks for asking........meow!

Clarky,

Funny, I had been specifically listening to War over & over about a month ago for several reasons.....1 of course is Joe's fluidity & 2 cause Joe went on the outside when he added Paulhino into the mix....for me an excellent combination me also being a drummer too.

962, Zen mentioned the Nuno/Page connection. I remember a Nuno interview in which he commented on how jealous he was that Page had already written/performed every possible great rock riff. I agree with Zen (not talkin tone here mind you) that there is a lot of Page evident in Nuno's playing...

Optical Studio - Hey Steven. Sounds like the Encinal side of town will take a bit gettin' used to. If memory seves me I think that side has better food. Plus you're closer to Mexicali Rose when you have that 3:00AM hankerin' for a tostadaw/ rice and beans.lol Take care and I'll see you soon.

Michelle - It wouldn't have been so bad if it had been a West Coast bat, but ya'll got those East Coasters w/ attitude. LOL!! That reminds me of my wife waking me up in a panic one night because there was a bat outside our bedroom window. Now I can't see crap w/o my glasses so I'm squinting at the window only to realize that it is a piece of plastic on the window. What a nut. Anyway, if it was me for the next week or so everytime I was behind your daughter I would make little bat noises and maybe put some scratches on the wall. Be creative you know. That's the joy of having kids!!

Finals Week - For all youz in school gettin' learned. Good luck on finals and don't forget the Guiness at the end.

I almost forgot - I am now the proud owner of a New Year's Eve gig. YEEEEEEAAAAAAA!!! We are totally not ready to play out yet but apparently the dude don't care. I guess cause we fit his budget, $250 for 4 hours. Whatever, I'm just happy to be playing. The other cool thing is that the other guitarest has NEVER played out before. It is going to be cool to see his preverbial cheery getting popped. Off to school to study relative motion and Coriolis acceration.

Late.

Climber - I had thought of putting a lead line over it but I think a vocal section would suit it better to create a reall intensity to it. Also the person who is going to put the vocal on it is a whisper away from being signed.

Opticalstudio - Cheers bro. Glad you enjoyed it.

Michelle - Reading your story about the bat just reminded me of "Ace Ventura 2 - When Nature Calls"!!!!! Oh and I am glad you enjoyed "Blowout".

VFRrocker - Cheers bro and see reply to Climber.

Clarky - To be honest I dont know if it needs a shred as I think vocals would work better. Also I am kinda stuck for ideas for what to do as it is soooo open especially as I dont want it to sound like one big impro session. Have a go at cutting one yourself if you want and, obviously, if you have the time. Talking about the Air Zone, the rhythm guitar on Blowout was a Washburn loaded with an Air Zone at the bridge, if that helps.

962 - I had a listen to The Eye Of Ra and it was killer!!! My only critism is that the drums are too repetative. Other than that, simply stunning!!!

Sorry but I just had to post this:

Diets & Dying

For those of you who have been struggling with dieting, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting medical studies. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. The French eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.

CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Well I did say sorry!!!

hey joe my name is Vince and im 18. Im from Adelaide South Australia, and im getting really excited about your upcoming tour down here in March 2005. This will be the first time that i'll get to see you live, and have no doubt that you'll leave us in amazement. I have been a huge fan for about 5 years now and i have all your albums.

I know that you would be preety busy right now and most likely wouldn't have the time to reply. but in some small chance that you do, i was hoping that maybe when you tour Adelaide on your Australian tour, that i could get the chance to meet you before the show and talk to you and your band. It would be a dream because you inspired me so much.

Zen, cool re Coryell. You have to be careful tho, he has a ton of recorded material, lots of it is very laid back, traditional etc But early on he was really an electric innovator. My favorite still is the "Offering" album. This one inspired Mahavishnu both musically and spiritualy. The fierce battle between guitar and saxophone is amazing. Of course with McLaughlin the battle was between guitar/violin and Jan Hammer..... Check this out.

Michelle - Had to wait until my wife left the room. The funniest late night happening was when I was ripped from my slumber by a searing pain in my armpit. Between screams I hear michelle say "Sorry, Sorry." I was like "What the Hell?" She gets a real calm look on her face and explains that she sort of woke up and thought she saw a spider right in front of her nose. So she went to squash it. Except it wasn't a spider at all. It was just me and my armpit. Now I sleep on the other side of the bed , for safety reasons!!!

Hey there! Well, here in Mexico city the G3 experinece turned out a success. i arrived at 4:15 pm approx. at the Auditrorio Nacional and Joe was sound checking, "amazing" I said then a white huge van came and guess what Mr. Vai arrived there and I had the chance to say hello to him not to mention Billy Sheenan gave us an autograph too. Well the concert bagan at 8:45 and Mr Fripp prformed some symphonic-like stuff on his guitar it really sounded great after that Mr Vai shredded strings as usually and the show was kind the same to the last G3 with Malmsteen and finally MR JOE SATRIANI played most of the new album and some of the classics... With all due respect I was dissapointed because of the sound, those guitars were too, too loud and some of us could not listen to what Jeff, Matt and the band itself was doing... Please Sound ENGINEERS be careful about it remeber QUALITY NOT QUANTITY

Hi Joe,

My name is Maryann, I live on Long Island. My son Louie and His uncle Bob came to see you back in August, they went backstage and hung out with you for a while. Their pic with you was posted on your website. Then my son came to see you at the beacon theatre with his aunt and uncle, his aunt was dancing with your mom in the aisle. Your sis told me that your mom thought my son was a doll. My son was in his Glory. Your sister works in the school by me, in fact I called and spoke to her, shes is very sweet. I had asked her if she could get a guitar strap and have you sign it so I can give it to my son for Christmas, she said she'd get some things together for me but couldnt do the strap. But thats ok, anything from you he will LOVE. You are a huge inspiration to him and I want to thank you. His playing gets better and better. Thanks again, Happy Holidays.....Maryann
