Hi again, everyone. I'm still way behind on posts, but I thought I'd stop by again.

Has anyone heard from bahduh since the earthquake / tsunamis? I took a quick look at a map and I think he's far enough inland to where he would not have been directly affected by anything, but I'm not sure.

If anyone here has an extra few bucks, Amazon has made it extremely easy to donate money to the American Red Cross. There is a link on their front page...they've raised about $2.3 million so far.

webmaster - Thanks for your post.

I saw you at the second SF show (up in the balcony, I think). Were you also at the first SF show? MegaBoyd and I were looking but we never found you. Just wondering...

Well, that's all for now... I'll be back later.

...Austin...

Sorry to hear you're feeling down with pneumonia. My wife and I attended your show at The Fillmore Sunday night (12.26.04) and I could tell before it was announced that you weren't feeling your best by your playing. That's not to be disrespectful in the least either, as I still think you are hands down the most talented guitar virtuoso ever. It just seemed like a struggle with some of your playing and again I am very sorry to hear you are so sick. We will hope to catch you later this year when you come back to the Bay Area and I truly wish to thank you for the show you did put on, as well as pulling out some old favorites I haven't heard live like Motorcyle Driver (way cool Joe!!!) and Hordes of Locust! You are amazing my friend....sick or not. Thank you again!

Hello. This is a message for Joe. My name is Erik Christenson, and I live in a small area of Richmond, VA. I am quite sorry about your unfortunate ailment, and I hope you have a speedy recovery. But this is not why I write to you. I write because several days ago, a large tsunami hit the south-eastern part of the Asian continent. Over 60,000 are dead with the toll rising. There is little I can do as a 16 year old highschooler with little money- or talent. But I do have the person I've looked up to since I was five. You. Once you get better, I have an idea that I would like to propose to you. Get together with people like Steve Vai, Eric Clapton, and the guys of U2, and anyone willing to play for a good cause. Arange tours around the US that would help the cause of the countries that need aid by donating most or all of the proceeds to those countries. I don't mean to be insulting by this proposal, but I am only a hopeless romantic with a dream. To do this would gain respect for you and the participants from the world. I as a fan would be eternaly grateful for this selfless deed that you could carry out. I will be somewhat disapointed if you chose not to do this, but it could never break the respect i have for you, and the zeal I hold for your music. I hope you read this, and as I said before, I mean no disrespect for you and your current state of health. I do not know if there is love in space, but I know there is love on this earth, so please consider my request as one of your biggest fans. Thankyou, from Erik :)

Hey, Joe:

I´ll make it quick. Why do you sometimes hammer the strings with your left hand while you place your right hand on the first or second fret? like when you do on "The mystical potato head groove thing" Is it to alter the tuning while you hammer those notes?

Thanks Joe, from all Buenos Aires; the last G3 in our city was the greatest. What do you think?.

In theMystical potato head groove thing, When he put its right hand on the fretboard, thats just to mute the notes, + it looks cool.. there is no different tuning's he just hammers on normally with his left hand....
Confusing to ecplain when ur a leftie... ;)

lleyton The reason why Joe puts his right hand further up the neck and hammers with the left is to 'dampen' the strings so that when Joe hammers with the left, it makes a much cleaner sound :-) hope that helps.
[Edit:...yeah what Al said :-)]
Al Yeah I'm making the most of my time too, at the moment I'm just seeing whats on TV and as usual...nothing worth watching until like 1:40am when theres 3 episodes of 'Oz' on lol.

I've got 6 days till I go back to college, and I've got 70+ pages of a website to storyboard, and a piece of english coursework to do, for which I have to transform "much ado about nothing" into the style of another writer. I did want to do it in the style of Thomas Harris...but its unbelievably hard to point out linguistic features of his work...so instead of transforming it into a short story, I'm going to transform it into a TV script for a fly on the wall documentary...in the style of Peter Kay :-)

Well that was a lot of words for one post at this hour.

Take care

Delfino

Joe, don't listen to some of these guys. Don't get me wrong I want you feeling better ASAP, but don't stop playing guitar, playing guitar always makes me feel better no matter what. If your depressed b/c your missing shows, put on a SRV cd and play along with it all the way through, I love doing that (esp. with Texas Flood). But feel better real soon, and i'll say a few prayers that you get better quick.

Cya later Buddy and Keep Playing

Joe, sorry to hear you got pneumonia. Hope you get well soon. Take it easy joe!

sorry people, i'm skimming so I might miss stuff. Nothing personal.
JS_JS/Pfields, Lords Of Karma ~ A tribute to Steve vai and Joe Satriani is a good disc. There's some questionable interpretations on there, and there's some ace stuff too....worth having, although Im not sure why......I suppose cause it's a tribute to two guys who are still going strong, an obvious sign that they are living legends.
Zenfish, thanks a lot for checkin out Revolve, and thanks for your feedback, I'm glad you liked them. I've listened to it a few times recently.....I really want a proper drum track, especially on Revolve II.....the timing is just a little dodgy in places! hehe

Also, glad to read your good words about Kenny-Wayne.....he totally rocks!

GuitarHottie, Love Thing is a beautiful melody and an excellent tune to play. I think it's pretty much the first tune of Joe's I properly learned and I still love it. Keep at it, and go prove your guitar teacher wrong! hehe, is your guitar teacher a guy? I'm guessing maybe he thinks girls can't play or something? if so, tell him to check out Jennifer batten.....she's amazing!
OCPS470, hey that's good news about the activision project! Keep us posted as to what happens, it's gonna be awesome if it keeps going good for you!
Happy New year everyone!

Jazzy, Steven Wilde, take it easy gents hope the new year brings general improvements for you both!

Wow just back from xmas in Montreal.. Joe get well!! You have been working very hard for the last 18 months!! Pneumonia is no fun!! I remember continuing to play junior hockey for a week after being diagnosed and then taking twicw as long to recover as normal, be careful!!

DCK, sent you another smackmellon e-mail, if you did not get it, then houston, we have a problem.

Gee3, no I already got to meet and greet last time WITHOUT having to pay up for premium tickets... They should ALL be allocated by fair draw to the fans, not to friends of the media, promoter etc , just my opinion!!

All of you guys are wrong about G3

Satch, Vai, and the guitar player from Linkin Park

That dude wrote in Guitar World, in the sections on lessons. He is one of the worst guitarists out there.

I was just watching My Coolist Years Metal Heads and when they were talking about air guitar they had Vai playing The Audience is Listening and it showed a couple clips of him real quick.
