Hi Steven, feeling a bit down in the dumps about it all today, mainly because we seem to constantly be being held in the balance and have no control over it all! We're still hopeful it'll all go through though, although I am getting a bit nervous about it all ballsing up at the last moment... :-{

Thanks Michelle by the way! Positive vibes will help I hope!

marimariSRV,

Nice Pics in the photo section at The Beacon.

How'd you sneak the camera in?

SRV.... now there's...a guy with some blues chops...it's nice to watch him play.

Good luck with the job search...

Didn't you say there would be some good news from you today?

Peace!

Steven Wilde Hey cool thanx, I'll give your track a listen to before I go to bed tonight. I've started work on another piece, this is the country piece I've been wanting to do for a while, it should come out well if I take the time to write the sections so that they harmonize nicely.

Take care, best of luck with all that you do

Hope your feeling better Joe. Are you planning on coming to the Providence, Rhode Island area for a gig? My two sons (9 and 5) would really like to see you live. My 5 year old's (Ethan) favorite song is Summer Song. Thanks. Mark

climber, hey thanks very much for checking out the edit! It does flow better, hehe.....it still somehow feels like a lengthy track, but it doesn't feel boring any more (i don't think) which is an improvement. I'm really pleased, cause I managed to cut out a minute but get away with keeping the bits that I really wanted to keep - just a couple of the fills and extra guitars and so on. Anyway, thanks again!

ibanezmike, hey no problemo amigo! yeah a 3mm pick is definitely what I'd class as 'too heavy'! I tend to use picks around 1mm thick, that's heavy enough. if you can find an Ibanez PG pick definitely get a couple, they're really worth it. Good luck!

Oh also, thanks lots for checkin out Shining Light, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I heard 'practise makes perfect' too......guess I'd better get practising! hehe. There's lots more I want to achieve, but I'm pretty happy with my current standard....certainly enough to say KEEP AT IT! Persevere. Also keeping open a wide range of influences helps. I used to listen to Vai all the time, then I listened to Joe and Eric Johnson lots too. I've since added 10 or 20 other players into the mix and suddenly I am finding my own style and ideas coming out when I'm playing. Keep on rocking, peace!

Steven Wilde, hey thanks man. I dunno, there was a whole 'verse' and 'chorus' section that didn't need to be there so it got cut. I'm much happier with it now....the transition makes more sense. It's kinda bitter-sweet for me - I finished Shining Light, which I'm really happy with now, but I've lost another track which I've been working on for aaaaages.

Well, I say lost - I mean Cubase won't open it any more. I still have all the bits of audio, so I could start again and piece it together like a puzzle, but it won't be quite the same. I'm really annoyed about that. It's a real kick in the nuts, cause it was my experimental 'symphonic' track, layering harmonised guitars to sound like a string section......oh well. maybe it's a Karma thing?! hehe

BenEthan, hey that's awesome that you'r 5-yr-olds' favourite song is Summer Song! Start 'em off young!

Steven Wilde,

Yes....I've written enough tunes for my Second CD, and then some, but I've got to push my 1st CD before I can really concentrate on the 2nd one.

Seeing though you asked...(thanks for asking)...the second CD will have a much harder edge overall than the more laid back sound of the first.

I was thinking of posting a few tracks from it, but I might wait till it's all polished up!

What's with the Stevie F. signature?

Take Care!

Question? Anyone else here experienced DTS DVD Audio yet? It is a staggering experience. I am building up a small but potent collection of DVD audio and it all sounds AWESOME (hint hint Joe and Steve) So far:

Billy Cobham Spectrum Awesome!!

EJ Ah Via Musicom Excellent!!

Steve Stevens Flamenco a GoGo Unbelievable with a really cool live video of Steve in Japan (leather, pierced lip and black nailpolish playing searing Dimeolaesque runs on a Godin nylon string)

Deep Purple Machine Head , sounds like you are in the studio live with the boys, mindboggling for a 1972 recording

Gary Moore Back to the Blues Awesome guitar sound

Motorhead Ace of Spades, don't know if this really deserved DTS release but it sounds awesome nonetheless

Wishbone Ash Bare Bones Acoustic renditions of classic Ash songs, incredible clarity.

Yes Fragile, you can only imagine how magnificent this sounds.

Anyone else heard any DTS stuff??? Wish they would release Dark Side of the Moon in this format!!

[Edit] I read this earlier...found it quite amusing:

Steve Vai on mooning people in his youth

"So one night we're doing our "sticking the ass out of the car window" thing and it was my turn. Ah...I spied an unsuspecting couple having an intimate conversation under a warmly glowing street lamp. Perfect suspects. I pulled down my pants, rolled down the window, and stuck my butt out, waving my hands as the driver of the car madly blows the horn.

In the middle of this little display of infantile brilliance, I realize that the couple I'm shaking my skinny little 16-year-old ass at are none other than Joe Satriani and his girlfriend. Our eyes met, and I was stunned. It was too difficult to retract my buttocks into the car so the only thing I could do as we drove by was wave and yell "Hi Joe!!".

I think in my next guitar lesson Joe Satch said something in regard to the streaking whiteness of my passing buttocks, and I was just "Wha...wha...what do you mean??""
