Is there a Santa Claus? A scientific inquiry......
1) No known species of reindeer can fly. BUT there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not COMPLETELY rule out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen.
2) There are 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world. BUT since Santa doesn't (appear) to handle the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and Buddhist children, that reduces the workload to 15% of the total - 378 million according to Population Reference Bureau. At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that's 91.8 million homes. One presumes there's at least one good child in each.
3) Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 822.6 visits per second.
This is to say that for each Christian household with good children, Santa has 1/1000th of a second to park, hop out of the sleigh, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left, get back up the chimney, get back into the sleigh and move on to the next house. Assuming that each of these 91.8 million stops are evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false but for the purposes of our calculations we will accept), we are now talking about .78 miles per household, a total trip of 75-1/2 million miles, not counting stops to do what most of us must do at least once every 31 hours, plus feeding and etc.
This means that Santa's sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second, 3,000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man- made vehicle on earth, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a pokey 27.4 miles per second - a conventional reindeer can run, tops, 15 miles per hour.
4) The payload on the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium-sized Lego set (2 pounds), the sleigh is carrying 321,300 tons, not counting Santa, who is invariably described as overweight. On land, conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds. Even granting that "flying reindeer" (see point #1) could pull TEN TIMES the normal amount, we cannot do the job with eight, or even nine. We need 214,200 reindeer. This increases the payload - not even counting the weight of the sleigh - to 353,430 tons. Again, for comparison - this is four times the weight of the Queen Elizabeth.
5) 353,000 tons traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance - this will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as spacecraft re-entering the earth's atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer will absorb 14.3 QUINTILLION joules of energy. Per second. Each. In short, they will burst into flame almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them, and create deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team will be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second. Santa, meanwhile, will be subjected to centrifugal forces 17,500.06 times greater than gravity. A 250-pound Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of his sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force.
In conclusion - If Santa ever DID deliver presents on Christmas Eve, he's dead now.

CHEESE101- Right on, and Thank's!
The "sqeal" is produced by a Lot of diffrent thing's! The way Joe produces that sound is with The Digetech Whammy, it's a red Wah-pitch shifter-Harmonizer, He often uses The pinch harmonic's to, at the same time, And an' extra sqeal is also produced, Many player's have thier own Signature Wah-Harmonic-Sound! each one is mor or less, a trademark sound! Joe uses His thumb and first finger, and actually reaches with His right hand, and strikes a B or D open string, and radicaly pulls on the trem arm with his left hand! and You also attain this High pitched harmonic sound, Like Your going to nirvana! it''s Wild! I use the harmonic's a lot! The Red Digitech, Though is Where He get's a lot of His sound, Also the EVENTIDE harmonizer unit, Both Vai, and Joe Love this unit! Experiment with diffrent hamonic range and He will soon go "yeah thats it!" one thing, it best to have double locking tremelo to do these stunt's! preferably a Floyd rose! JT-580LP-or the JT-500, both are great! I think he would Love hat Red digetch! Is doent have to be the old addtion, it can the reissue!...Hope I ahave of some help! Plaese feel free to e-mail Me whenevr You like!

DELFINO- Listening to Your track right Now! It's sounds very cool! I love the intro! You are very talented! and a terrific Guitarist! and Musican! I really like this stuff! Right on bro' for sharing Your latest tune! I really Love this sort of stuff! it's haunting, But in A positive way! it sounds very techincal! was it difficult? Keep up the awesome work! You have a way with getting very nice recoridng's! :-)) :-) 2 smiles!...................CHEESE101- Great, I am very happy! I forgot to mention, Chris, Is A great Name! thats My middle name! That is what the C. stands for! I belive wants Chris, adapts a style all His own with some of the techniques that are out there, He really be enthused! But ALWAY's Keep Number 1 rule! No matter what the tricks or how flashy, The true art of guitar music, comes from the Hands! and heart!, and mind! I like to look as the flashy and "trick's" as Icing on the cake! 1st there has to be A storyline, and a common ground, then sprinkle in the cool show offy stuff! I really am enthused! I hope He takes His playing to a new level! And finds rreknowned Joy in every Note He play's! Did You read My post to You about being quite the cool Mom?.Well Talk to You later!

Steven WIlde thansk man, I appreciate it. also, I jsut say that about drinking and driving cause my town and my school seem to have problems with it. some of my friends get high and drunk all the time now, they never used to. they do some stupid stuff and I hate seeing people get hurt from it. so just everyone should be careful and think about what they do. escpeacially tongiht.

Steven Wilde :-D thanks a lot, made my new years eve terrific :-)..(i usually hate new years). The backing track was easier than I thought it would be, the drums are what I usually have problems with but I sort of stumbled across a what I would refer to as a 'good' rhythm and kept to that. The guitar was the simplest of all lol
|***********P.M**********|
Low C-5-5-5-5-2------------------
Followed by:
|**P.M****|[Pinch harmonic on the '2']
G -5-5-5-5-2---------------------
So as you can see its pretty simple lol
Very fun to do though.

Delfino- just had a listen to your Night Museum track- I really liked it, thought it was very atmospheric. It reminded me of a tense scene from a film... I better not say which one it reminded me of because I could be completely wrong and would hate to offend!! :-)

Suzie2000 I don't mind, the intro sounds very 'thriller-ish' to me (not as in the Michael Jackson song but as in the genre of film) I'm thinking of doing "The Night Museum Part II" starting tomorrow, while I'm still in that frame of mind lol.
Which film did it remind you of? :-)
