Good evening all, my fingers continue to be sore as I'm continuing my guitar lessons with my son but am learning slowly but surely!!! I can't imagine ever playing as well as my son, who delights in throwing in all sorts of fancy stuff while I'm plodding along on the first 3 strings and frets..but I can now play a pretty mean twinkle twinkle little star!! LOL!!

So, civgeek, Matt, yes, it's a definite possibility that we may come up for Vai a day early and be there Saturday the 23rd..maybe we can hook up with you and your family for coffee or a quick dinner somewhere! I guess Chron lives in Portland too......maybe we'll get a chance to meet him then too! Congratulations on making it through your gig and being asked back, not for just one more but for 2!

WEBMASTER, thanks so very much for letting us know how Joe is doing... there are some real worry-warts lurking around here (okay, I'm the worst one I know!) and it was a relief to hear that Joe is recovering, even if it is slowly.

Jazzzzzzzy, new digs, new school, new roommate, new dorm................enjoy! One of these days, the most horrible of your experiences will become your best and funniest stories, and you may even miss your wierd roommate and the "dirty south" room that you had!! Much good luck with your MBA program...kick some serious butt there!

opticjay, lots of congratulations on your upcoming marriage, and yeah, you picked 2 REALLY good songs to play..your new wife will probably melt into a puddle!

Suzie2000, YAY!!! Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to move you go!! I will send you extremely positive vibes on Friday..let us all know how it goes! Moving is a real pain, but it's also a chance to clean out closets and drawers and start out freshly organized. Hmmm, in my house, somehow, nothing STAYS that way for long though! Guess it's our resident ghost that moves things around, as of course my son NEVER dreams of putting things away in odd places, lol!!

Steven, hey there! Hope you're having a great evening. I have many friends at work, which is part of what makes my job fun to go to every day, but one friend in particular, today we were having a great discussion. We have decided that 2005 is going to be an AWESOME year for each of us in our lives!!!! Feeling very happy and positive about life and hope to keep it that way. We also hope to rub off on another nice lady that sits in our area, as she currently feels very depressed and negative about everything. We're going to help her smile every day! Just like you do for others!

Michelle "BatWoman" "Mom Who Enjoys Being Evil to her Children" LOL!! Yeah, I think the reason we become parents is so we have someone to pick on!!! :) With total and complete love of course! Did your daughter shriek when she saw the bat shirt? I bet it's fun in your house most of the time!

JOE: To echo what Michelle said earlier, WE LOVE YOU JOE!! And we'll continue to send out really good vibes for you to feel 100% soon....it's snowboarding season so hurry up and get better so you don't miss out!! But since we can't spare you for very long to be out of commission, please don't get sick again! :+)

JEFF, MATT, GALEN: We'd LOOOOVE to see you guys lurk in here once in a while....are you all still healthy or did you catch "Joe-germs"? Can't wait to see you all again!

anibur, hiya!

Suzie - WOOHOOOOO!

Sharon!!!! Hello friend!

Jazzy crybaby, what the hell does the "dirty south" consist of? One toof banjo playin' fellers and daisy duke wearin' heffers with dirty feet? LMAO!! Dude, I'm not laughing at you, just bustin' yer butt. I know this is a big step for you. I wish you nothing but the best in this adventure. Catching a cold - get AIRBORNE FORMULA. Google it dude. It works.

Ya Yo, for 3-fitty, you should have the cow serve your friggin coffee with a teet squirt stirred lightly with a fresh sugar cane - with breakfast made by Joe. LOL!

Mikey, BIG low flying planes flew over town today. I saw 2 of them - scared the crap out of me really. I was driving to the store rocking out to Pantera, and this huge dark thing comes into view from the right overhead. Of course my first words were "Ho-lee shit!" About an hour and a half later when I came home, I was just pulling up in front of my house and another one came over. Both headed towards the airport, grayish-green in color, low flying, and big! I'm wondering if they were C-130's? Wonder where they were coming from, and where they're headed after they leave Reading? Last time we had military planes flying over was in the weeks after Sept. 11.

Tracie, my daughter laughed and rolled her eyes when she opened the bat shirt. She wore it today as a matter of fact. My kids think (err know) I'm "special" lol! The movie of the week here has bee What's Eating Gilbert Grape. My daughter found sound clips, and I've been playing them repeatedly for 2 days. DiCaprio is brilliant in that movie. Check 'em out. My favorite wav file is the last one at the bottom - Momma wake UUUUUuuuuuuUUUUp! lmao!! That one kills me every time. I love Arnie!

Funny, funny stuff!

PFields, that video you are looking for is called The Satch Tapes..I have it on DVD and it's great. You can find it on ebay lots of times, Amazon, probably lots of other places. I also bought The Reel Satriani, VHS of when Joe was making his self-titled album. Got that off e-bay too. It's good!

If you ever get the money and a chance to get another Joe DVD, on ebay sometimes for sale is one called Live in Montreaux, from the years 2000 and 2002. It is a fantastic DVD. I don't think it was ever commercially released, so not sure how it came to be, but it ranks right up there with Live in San Francisco for us, as you can see Joe play some stuff not seen on the LISF DVD. Check it out!

Steven Wilde - part of the fun of being a player is not only building up your own ability, but also bringing on other less experienced players...

kind of like "training the youth team".....

and if I know that I can make a difference then it makes me feel very good...

dck - I've got a Triton too... are they the dogs or what....
I love it..
Yoda - thanks for raising this... but I'm not that worried about it... I've seen albums with the same or similar titles before... I don't recall it causing a stir...
SteeveT - Shredz should be ready around summer - schedule permitting.... I still have one last track to record.... then I'll need to spend a month or two refining and tidying things up here and there....
then I need to master it, get the art work sorted and my first batch produced.....

the trouble is that I have to do everything myself and pin down a day job... and now David Cross has decided to get active..... so this is all delays.....

does my head in..

Shell - illness?.... what was wrong....??

The Vai gig.. is that the girl I met you with at a gig once?.. I get too monged so I can never tell people or gigs appart... lol...

The T2J CD is out and available..... it's very nice too...

wow... I can see how the internet can get you in the shit... I guess I spend more time on it at work than I should...

Mikey - the DC gigs are 22nd and 23rd of April in Tokyo.... if you want I'll find out the venue details and door opening times etc.... I think that gig starts early... much earlier than I'm used to.. even as a support band..
VFR - I got the idea for the album title from Mussorgski's Pictrures at an Exhibition... given that all of my tracks are based upon pictures, the title made sense...

Suzie, congratulations! if I knew where you lived I'd have a bottle of Champaigne sent to you, but it probably wouldn't get there until after you'd left! hehe.
jazzzzzy, "i am such a crybaby"....haha! That's hilarious dude. In all fairness tho, if it's somewhere you have to live for a while, you want it at least to be somewhere pleasant that you can retreat to, not somewhere you really can't stand. I hope you get your move dude!
ovation1, good to see you round here sensai! I take your point about Steve and Joe's hands being tied, and I think that, to a certain extent, they could well be. But, Steve just seems to be taking it a bit too far. For collectors of Vai stuff, it's going to rinse the bank account!
Austin, did you get the EJ newsletter? I can't wait to see that signature strat, and Bloom coming out this summer.....YIPPEEEEEEE!

Stevee T, any success at Thomas site yet? I found some original tunes there as well but cannot down load em. DCK mentioned to me and I saw on Thomas site that Ron Thal actually guest soloed on one of Thomas tracks.. How cool is that.

SOTD, LifeForce, Vinnie Moore inspired by Thomas' excellent version. I had forgotten what a cool song that was and how suprised I was that when I first heard it that Vinnie could shred in that style.....

Is It A Stroke Or Heart Attack?

Things You Should Know (for yourself and others)

Is It a Stroke?

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster for the stroke victim. A stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say any bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

* Ask the individual to smile.

* Ask him or her to raise both arms.

* Ask the person to speak a simple sentence.

If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. After discovering that a group of non-medical volunteers could identify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the general public to learn the three questions. They presented their conclusions at the American Stroke Association's annual meeting last February. Widespread use of this test could result in prompt diagnosis and treatment of the stroke and prevent brain damage.

Is it A Heart Attack?

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people, you can bet that at least one life will be saved. Read this... It could save your life!!

Let's say it's 6:15 P.M. and you're driving home (alone of course), after an unusually hard day on the job. You're really tired, upset, and frustrated. Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to radiate out into your arm and up into your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home. Unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart att! ack victims can get to a hospital.

Tell as many people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!
