Clarky: That's true about YJM's setup (8 gauge strings tuned to Eb) although he says the 8 set has a heavy bottom. Seems nuts to me haha! I don't know why anyone would want scalopping, just seems like it causes more problems without making expression that much greater. It seems to me that 9 gauges are best for liquid lead tone....my experience was that when I tried 10's the guitar immediately took on a more acoustic character and was twangier and brassier under distortion instead of being smooth....8's however seem horribly anemic under most conditions (especially when clean). My old guitar instructor was a YJM fan back in the day, and he plays 8's, and it's such a sustainless flat sound.

OCPS470, I wonder what Joe Stump uses (gauge)? He uses a scalloped neck as well and plays in that familiar neo-classical style but with a much more aggresive attack and a much raunchier sound....

I've never experienced DVD surround yet, it must be something... For now I'll just stick to my "old" Alpha 7SE, cause like you said, they're pricey. From what I've been reading, DVD players are not as good as CD players for playing music (yet). Do you think the day will come when all music will be released in surround sound?

I've seen Tubular Bells and Queen:The Game on DVDAudio. The only Satch CD I've seen is Engines of Creation, but it's on SACD...

Clarky Yeah I'm definitly going to go for a set of Ernie Ball "Hybrid" strings...11's are nice and have a nice kind of tone to them but to me they feel as heavy as they sound and I've lost a lot of quality and speed in my legato since I started using them...generally not as maneuvarable as I really like...which means I'll need to adjust my truss again now lol...

Today has been a boring day...but a good day...I played guitar for a while, but no where as long as I used to play...I think I need to practice more. I also played computer games, multi-theft-auto and panzer dragoon orta, and also on top of that did some work for my ICT class. I currently 1 mark off an A' grade...so I'm working my ass off to get the extra 6 marks which will mean I have full marks over all :-)

Anywayz, take care all,

Delfino

Suzie-Hi, Hey i Sure hope The Move is coming along well! Alway's My best, well wishes! Been writing some more song's! Actually, These new ones are going really well! Okay, Talk to You soon!.................................CivgeeK- Thank's for the post! I feel real bad that We couldn't meet! and it being My fault! But Maybe another time Eh! Glad You are doing well! I've been in Many accident's, and Landed on My Head. But My condition they thought were 'stress seizures' Because of all the stress, I was going through- But they really became viloent. So they did more catscan's, and test's., And found a strange case of "frontal temperoal lobe disorder" Which causes My seizures to go just Wayyy Off, and werid!, and last so long. I take tegretol, A powerful anti-epeleptic drug. It sort of help's But By all purposes, I can have up to 4-6 a day, Some very bad, Other's very mild! I am glad Your Wife is free from Her's! That really makes Me so happy! And I hope She is not plauged by the odd disorder's that are assciated with Seizure Damage! Anyway, I am fine today, just woke up, was up all night writing song's! Okay, well I'll see You! And dont worry for not writing, I know Your busy! Take care!................................ZENFISH- Thank's for asking, I am doing fine! I have really diving into many facet's of the guitar. Playing thing's I normaly would not practice-Flamingo, and some cool classic, and jazz-blues, A lot of blues! But it's strange, The more style's i play, The more I revert back to, and appreciate My speed-riff's, and power chord's. I have written a piece and came out quasi-jazz-classicalspeed? But Folk's reall liked it! even the classic, and "pure" Blues head's! Oh Well! I keep trying to keep the spark alive somehow!...And How are You doing? I hope Your doing real well! and that the situation with drummer dosen't last to long! for those long 12 bar blues riff's, and Soulful note strategety emotion charged Playing. You need A dedicated Drum Person! to "feel" those vibes, and look at Ya'. interact! I just Love playing with reall drummer's! They are Cool! I drum To! also! I am probably a better drummer than guitaristLOL..Well alway's My best to You and ZENFISH! keep up the great cool vibes My Freind! I sure would love it if Someday, i could go to Portugal! and have you instruct Me on some great cool, Guitar stuff! I really am facinsated with the guitar! and even fall asleep with it in My hand's! Thank's for being a really Neat, and cool Freind! Best regards, and wishing You the best alway's!.............................JERSEY JET- How are thing's with you? are You over Your Vacation yet? and have You been Burning the fretboard? Well, Hope the practicing is coming along well! Keep those passion's High, and those harmonicaly charged solo's a Happeinin' and Most of all, Follow Your Dream's, and desires! They will take you Far!

bahduh, do you know how much Bill Gates earns? It runs into millions every minute. He can afford to teach indian school kids how to use computers just with the interest he gets on his hourly earnings. He could afford to erase 3rd world debt and end famine in Africa, and still be a multi-billionnaire.

Stevee T, yeah it is great to have this common ground! Joe is a class act! hehe
jazzzzzy, man that is bad news. I'm sorry to hear that bro. And yeah, that's funny about the 777 thing.....I just looked on ebay for bass guitars and it found 777 matches! hehe
civgeek, yeah man, as far as I can gather the Zir Zone is a warmer Tone Zone, which is exactly what I need.....I like the warmth cause I don't use much gain.....I tend to go more for a Joe/Eric Johnson tone with a little something else! hehe
kd6aaj, yeah I agree with Steve, the blues scale is a must, as is the basic pentatonic system. Learn some pentatonic substitution if you can find a decent resourse for it, and browse through the 7 modes of the major scale. I wouldn't say learn all 7 modes and their variations....that's a whole lot of scales....but definitely give them a look. Basically, a good place to start is learning the 5 positions of the pentatonic system, and finding out which extra notes you can add in, and which you can take out, to add different vibes.
Delfino, 4. When people say 'pacific' instead of 'specific'......thank you! You made my day. I thought I was just being a pedantic f*cker, but no, i'm not the only one who finds that immensely irritating!
Steven Wilde, dude I'm very sorry to read of the poor state of your health. That sounds like a pretty crazy disorder, not one I've heard of! It sounds like it must be kinda frustrating......do you know what caused it? Is it something that can be beaten? Sorry for all the '?' hehe

Anyway, much respect to you amigo, the way you deal with it reminds me vividly of the way my dad dealt with his cancer......he never let it stop him from doing what he had to do. Even though it was not something that could be stopped, he stood up to it anyway. You rock steven, thanks for stirring up a good memory of my dad.

Thank you all so very much for the "get well" messages, I believe they really made a difference. Pneumonia is no fun at all and I don't recommend it to anyone, but hearing from all of you has eased my down time quite a bit. Thank you again. My recovery will hopefully continue and I will get a clean bill of health by the end of the month... I was unable to post a "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" message due to my illness, and as you know had to cancel most of the end of the year tour. Sorry about that. Make-up shows are being booked as I write this... The two shows at the Fillmore seem like a fantastic fever induced dream. Although I could barely breathe, I felt I had to perform as if my life depended on it. Every note was sacred to me. As I played, the tsunami tragedy in South Asia weighed so heavily on my heart. It's still so hard to comprehend the suffering so many people have had to endure. The relief effort will need our continuing support(www.redcross.org)...As well as our troops in Iraq who face incredible danger every day. Let's hope this year will bring some peace to the region, and a home-coming for our troops... This year will see me and the boys heading to Australia, New Zealand and Japan. We are looking into a few European summer festivals as well... Writing for a new record to be finished by the end of the year is also on the calendar... Later this month I will be at the NAMM show to debut a stunning new Ibanez Chrome JS guitar, and an awesome Peavey JSX Combo Amp, with reverb and a half power switch. I'll be stopping by the DiMarzio and D'Addario booths as well... Hope to see some of you there...Joe

Joe, that is EXCELLENT news! Glad to hear you're feeling better. I was bed-ridden with pneumonia myself at age 6...almost died. Nice to see you've got your second wind back now!

JSX combo.....ineresting. I was thinking of getting the JSX head, but I wonder if I should wait for the combo now. Decisions, decisions.

I think that's one of, if not THE, longest post you've made here. Best wishes for a further recovery : )
