Hello to all of you, I am also a big fan of Joe Satriani, as a matter of fact, he is one of my main influences for playing the guitar, I saw the CD you guys put together and I was wondering if you have in mind doing another one, I have written some instrumental songs, if you do plan on doing one, I really would love to be a part of it.

Thanks and hope to talk to you soon, oh and warm regards for Joe and get well soon from that pneumonia you caught, by the way, is there any chance Joe would give a concert in Laredo, Texas sometime?

First Date Contest Winner

This is probably the funniest date story ever, first date or not!!! We have all had bad dates...but this takes the cake. This just tells you how tough it is to be single nowadays.

This was on the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno. Jay went into the audience to find the most embarrassing first date that a woman ever had. The winner described her worst first date experience. There is absolutely no question as to why her tale took the prize!

Marilyn said it was midwinter... snowing and quite cold...and the guy had taken her skiing to Lake Arrowhead. It was a day trip (no overnight). No, not Marilyn. They were strangers, after all, and truly had never met before.

The outing was fun but relatively uneventful until they were headed home late that afternoon. They were driving back down the mountain, when she gradually began to realize that she should not have had that extra latte. They were about an hour away from anywhere with a rest room and in the middle of nowhere! Her companion suggested she try to hold it, which she did for a while.

Unfortunately, because of the heavy snow and slow going, there came a point where she told him that he had better stop and let her pee be side the road, or it would be the front seat of his car. They stopped and she quickly crawled out beside the car, yanked her pants down and started.

Unfortunately, in the deep snow she didn't have good footing, so she let her butt rest against the rear fender to steady herself.

Her companion stood on the side of the car watching for traffic and indeed was a real gentleman and refrained from peeking. All she could think about was the relief she felt despite the rather embarrassing nature of the situation.

Upon finishing however, she soon became aware of another sensation. As she bent to pull up her pants, the young lady discovered her buttocks were firmly glued against the car's fender. Thoughts of tongues frozen to pump handles immediately came to mind as she attempted to disengage her flesh from the icy metal. It was quickly apparent that she had a brand new problem due to the extreme cold.

Horrified by her plight and yet aware of the humor she answered her date's concerns about "what was taking so long" with a reply that indeed, she was "freezing her butt off and needed some assistance!"

He came around the car as she tried to cover herself with her sweater and then, as she looked imploringly into his eyes, he burst out laughing. She too, got the giggles and when they finally managed to compose themselves, they assessed her dilemma. Obviously, as hysterical as the situation was, they also were faced with a real problem. Both agreed it would take something hot to free her chilly cheeks from the grip of the icy metal! Thinking about what had gotten her into the predicament in the first place, both quickly realized that there was only one way to get her free. So, as she looked the other way, her first time date proceeded to unzip his pants and pee her butt off the fender.

As for the Tonight Show .. she took the prize hands down. Or perhaps that should be "pants down." Now I'll bet any of your bad first dates were not this embarrassing.

Jay Leno's comment: This gives a whole new meaning to being ............. "pissed off."

Apple Unveils Mini Mac, IPod Shuffle

SAN FRANCISCO - Apple Computer Inc. chief executive Steve Jobs (news - web sites) introduced a cut-rate computer the size of a paperback on Tuesday and a tiny iPod that starts at $99, but holds fewer songs than its hard drive-based music players.

The new products seek to make inroads against the traditionally more affordable PC market and against lower-cost competitors to Apple's wildly popular iPod.

The Mini Mac computers, smaller than even some standalone external computer drives, go on sale Jan. 22. They lack a monitor, mouse and keyboard. The 40-gigabyte Mini Mac will cost $499, an 80-gigabyte model $599.

The computer comes with Apple's latest operating system, Mac OS X (news - web sites) Panther, as well as the newest version of its iLife suite of digital media software programs, also unveiled Tuesday.

"People who are thinking of switching will have no more excuses," Jobs said during a keynote speech at Macworld and Expo. "It's the newest and most affordable Mac ever."

The product for the first time puts Apple in the budget desktop PC arena, which so far has been largely confined to personal computers that rely on Microsoft Corp.'s Windows operating system.

Building upon the success in a rapidly growing niche that it already dominates, Apple also is rolling out two lower-priced versions of its iPod music players.

The iPod Shuffle, available immediately, is smaller than most packs of chewing gum and weighs less than an ounce.

Unlike the hard drive-based iPod Mini, it doesn't have a display. There's a scroll wheel for the controls so a user can either play the songs in order or have the device automatically shuffle stored songs in a random order.

Apple is selling two versions of the iPod Shuffle.

The smallest will have 512 megabytes of storage and cost $99. A one-gigabyte version, which holds 240 songs, will sell for $149. The lowest cost iPod is the mini, which costs $249 for four gigabytes — enough to store about 1,000 songs

"We want to bring even more people into the digital revolution," Jobs said.

The iPod has helped infuse new life into Apple. In the past year, the Cupertino-based company's stock has tripled on strong sales of the iPod, which is emerging as one of the 21st century's first cultural icons.

Analysts expect the new iPods will help Apple hold its lead in the MP3 market.

Because many rival flash-based players have just 256 megabytes of storage, Apple is "sticking to its cut-above position," said Susan Kevorkian, an industry analyst with IDC. "There are plenty of people who want an iPod but haven't been able to afford the $249 Mini, so offering these lower-priced players allows Apple to attract not just new users but those who already own an iPod but want an even smaller version."

With the Mac Mini, Jobs is setting out to expand Apple's 3 percent share of the U.S. computer market.

Clarky: I was looking through the last week's posts and Zenfish posted the Ten Commandments of Shredding to you so I figured you may know what he's talking about since you are the Uber Shredder! ;-)) He's very kuul but I have a hard time figuring things out with his posts. LOL! Doesn't help that I haven't been around much either.....I'm leaving for NAMM on Saturday....Woohooo! California here I come!! heehee....I couldn't resist!

Stevee T: Yes I believe...in my dreams....They are going to come true, I will make it happen. NAMM starts on the 20th and I will be ready! I'm going to vacation for a few days with relatives in San Clemente. I'm looking forward to seeing So Cali I've never been there. I've only been to San Fran which I loved!! Things are going well, I was just looking at life through a negative mood lately. Like Steven W says things are going to happen for me. I truely believe this! I*'m going to make a point to see Joe and Steve when I'm there. I have photos to show them in my porfoliio of their shows. I think they will like them. ;-)))

Steven Wilde: How are you feeling today? Your post made me smile and realize how negative and down I have been....your words are so true. God's providing a fantastic opportunity for me with this trip to NAMM. That piddly magazine would've only stopped me from a better opportunity that awaits me!! Thanks for the encouragment...see you are my Angel...;-))) I'm having a cup of green tea to warm me up before I go shopping with my sister for some stylin clothes for my trip. Green tea is good for boosting your metabolism which i can use extra help and it's a very good antioxidant to fight disease. It tastes good too! heehee!

Time to run. Shopping awaits.

civgeek, dunno if you saw my edit earlier, but thanks anyway dude, for the offer! (I put an edit up saying I'd realised the pawn shop is in canada, not the US! hehe).

Good point though.....

Is anyone here in Winnipeg? if so and you happen to be near Broadway Pawn please help me out!

Steven Wilde, on Germans being serious.....I once saw an article on TV about Germans - in some areas of Germany peple go to a 'laughing church' - it's where they learn how to laugh! it was hilarious! Germany rocks tho, I love it!
OCPS470, the library sounds like a real gem, I'd love to have that resouce to play with! I'm using some decent VST Instruments at the moment, but they don't compare to having that kind of resouce! I got a fat percussion and effects library though....time to start using it! hehe
TASTEY, thanks for the b'day wishes! Funny thing I meant to tell you - Al and I got one of our copies of News In Brief back in the mail the other day....it was the one we sent to Michael Moore in New York, it had 'return to sender' on it. It's only, what.....4 months since we sent those out?! haha!
Suzie, "partly because of the great sound insulation" WINK WINK! I'm sorry, I just thought i'd jump in and make the immature, stupid, possibly offensive joke before anyone else did! hehe. Seriously though, i'm really glad to hear you guys are happy and everything's working out. Have you got your decorating planned?

962- to be honest, if that's how folks on here took it about our new "great sound insulation," well that's fine! After 10 months of misery, including some no-brain w**ker doing DIY all hours, hearing people doing allsorts??? in the flat below, being woken up by some idiot who EVERY night came in at 2 a.m. after his bar job (after a few beers I assume... waking us up anyway!) .... it is just nice to be able to sleep at night. At last! If you want to offend me BTW, you will have to try harder! LOL!

Big Bad Moon 1889- Hi, Actually i have been playing for two years, but have been trained by some really gifted player's. And they all taught Me, That when I asked at how to play riff's, and go fast. They said to have the knoweledge of the type of song's and style you want, and to Also work on scales, Pentatonic scales, Major, and minor. and the circle of ffth's pattern, and develpo speed, and endurance runinning over these progression's, and slowly build speed. and endurance. and invent your own patterns, built off of the pentatonic scales, you will soon be able to speed up Your playing, and nimbleness, to Conform to whatever style you choose. Also apreggio's and legatto form's will help with speed, and stuff!and knowing basic chord structures, you can write Your own song,'s, and in key, Play these scales over them, and have A whole song! Hope this help's! Rock On! :-)
