CIVICGEEK- it does seem to outpace minimum wage a bit....one reason is probably due to the fact that the company/corp must always make a profit, whether due to stock situations or personal gain..... you raise the wage you will lose money if you sell stuff at the same price, if you raise it to meet the wage then you break even, you must then raise it over the wage to make a profit... thats my guess... i cant necessarily blame certain folks for doing certain things, when the average home price is $510,000 and the average job pays $12 an hour theres a discrepency that must be rectified, either by market forces or by human ones... i plan to move to vegas, it's much cheaper to live in the desert lol

CUTHBERT- all i know is, adjusted for inflation minimum wage should be around $10 to $13 an hour.... think i heard this on CNBC one day, what do you think....

My friend and I were going to the San Diego and Orange Count shows and were bummed to hear Joe had pneumonia.

We send our fondest wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeww...

Clarky I recently went upto playing on 11's...they're nice, however I don't like the higher strings and I don't think they are really 'me'...I'm stuck between going for either the Ernieball Hybrids and the Ernieball "Skinny top, heavy bottom"...lol

Also wondered what it would be like to put some Hybrids on my guitar...and then buy a .66 for the low E...probably sound terrible but ya' never know.

Anyone have any good scales I could practice with? I think I know the C scale. Only guitar class I took was in 7th grade (I can burn out "Ghost Riders In The Sky" for you), the rest I learned by ear.

I need to develope my speed and accuracy to play lead/solos.

I mostly know chords and power chords, not much lead. I grew up with Country, then folk and finally AC/DC and the other 80's metal (Def Leopard etc.)

I can play Metalica's "Fade To Black" intro, some of the lead (it's slow enough to follow).

I can fingerpick Kansas' "Dust in the Wind".

I have every Boston album, and play along to those (only some of the leads).

Civgeek, thx for not posting whatever you had planned last nite, I had a large dinner. Thx also for asking bout the reading. It is a struggle for me for whatever reason. I was always and will always be an ear/feel kinda player I guess... My son is busting my chops. He has started to learn advanced jazz stuff and improvising on blues scales as well as starting to learn a complex Rick Wakeman piece (his teacher is a prog freak). On the plus side, he is soooo busy with piano he has stopped learning the guitar so at least he won't be smoking me on that any time soon LOL
Anyone here remember Canadian Prog Rockers Saga? Picked up a DVD by the now old looking gang, circa 2003. Old and mostly out of shape but they still have chops. I suspect some of the boys in DT would be lying if they claimed never having been influenced by Saga.......

SUPAADAVE, sorry i took so long to get back to you. i may be wrong with the name because it was so long ago but i'm pretty sure it was the opera house. i played in THE KICKS BAND from madison. i also remember that town because we went to practice in the club one morning and my marshall wouldn't turn on. we found a tv repair shop and after much begging and ass kissing he only charged me $100 to replace a 20 cent diode. must have knew i was a packer fan. anyway i don't expect you to know these places. it is just that seeing virginia minn brought back some memories for me. some very cold ones too. i'll bet its nice there in the summer though

Hi Joe, Really sorry your sick, we were very dissapointed not getting to see you New Years' eve. Especially my 16 year old son. After seeing your G3 DVD with Steve & Yngwie, he was really excited about seeing you. His uncle is also in the hospital in a drug induced coma healing from Pneumonia as well. Hope you're feeling better !! Anxiously awaiting your rescheaduled concert. If there's any chance of your considering doing another G3 with a female guitarist. Please check out my friend's website. www. teresarussell.com She has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Great guitarist could be something fun & different for both of you. Possibly a good opening act. Wishing you a speedy recovery !!! Paul Tefft tefftmech@msn.com Cell Ph # 805-207-9308

Mikesb - Not posting last night was not through any will of my own. I helping set up some networking stuff at a friend house an ran out of time. But don't fear I have many a day ahead of me.

As for Saga, I loved those guys. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for the DVD. They only had 2 big hits here in the states. One, of course was "On the Loose," the other name is escaping me right now. I did pick up the Rush in Rio DVD last night. That is pretty cool. Alex has definately put on a few lbs over the years.

Steven - Hey sorry I haven't written earlier. How it going? I was curious if you know what is causing your seizures. I think I remember you saying that you were in an accident, but I didn't know if that was the cause. My wife's seizures just started one day and they have no idea what the cause is. They just put her on a new med. I don't have the name off hand, but it seems to be going well. It has less side-effects apparently. Hang in there and If I make it back down I'll give a Holla'.

962 - Yes it is an old RG. The air zone was my second choice. If I remember is n't the Air Zone a warmer version of the Tone Zone? More mids? Anyway, a good chioce none the less.

howdy everyone-- i did a quick checkup and joe is still pretty knocked out, but on the road to recovery! i still can't believe he played those last two shows with the energy he showed in the state he was in! we'll keep you informed as he continues to recover and we get an idea of when the makeup dates for the postponed shows will be.

also, i wanted to thank everyone who has sent joe get-well messages. the best is always to post 'em here since i can't forward all of the emails to him.

Whoo going to see Team America next week...I've seen it already due to my naughty friend downloading stuff naughtily.

It'll be better quality though and I'll have a massive bucket of salted popcorn...which if anyone steals I'll castrate.

I really hate when people steal my popcorn...its one of the top 5 things that piss me off.

Anywayz, take care people have a good weekend, Joe I hope you're feeling better in some way :-)
