Hello to all in Satchland! Greetings from So. California!!! It's so beautiful here....I think I may have to move here in a few years. My relatives are so cool and offered to let me stay longer. I won't be able to post till I get back home but I will tell you all about it. Thanks for the good vibes and well wishes. I can't wait.....many good things will be happening!! I'll be thinking of you...I couldn't have done it without your support and friendship. Many thanks!! ;-))))

Steven Wilde: I hope you are feeling better Steven. God Bless!!

Got to get moving....much to see and do today! Hello to all my friends! We'll talk soon. I've got some stuff to tell yah already! hehe!

Hi, Joe. I hope that you are getting better now.

I'm Yukari from Japan. I'm a fan of you since G3 in 2003. I hope to see you on stage in Japan. As soon as you decide a tour to Japan, please let me know!

Well, when I talk about you with my friend in my band, we call you "Satori Aniki". "Satori" is "enlightenment" in Japanese. "Aniki" is "the way of call elder brother with respect" in Japanese.

So, I'll call you "Satori Aniki!!" to you on the stage in Japan. Please fine me then :)

Well, please take care of yourself. Good luck and see you soon!

Mowlie2000- good vibes to your tooth! :-)

Delfino- teaching yourself piano? Sounds good... if you ever make it up to the attic to get your keyboard, good luck with it!

Steven- Thanks, the day has gone very well today, I feel so much more settled since we've moved. It feels like a weight has been lifted from my mind :-)

Zenfish- thankyou for the EVH info- I found it all most interesting! I don't really understand the criticism either- there's no need for it. I've never really seen the point in comparing which guitarist is "better" than another, as like you say there are so many styles, and it all comes down to personal preference anyway. I will get round to listening to that CD you suggested, soon! The only EVH interview / article I've read recently was one in Guitarist, where I didn't think he came across as arrogant at all. I loved what he said about "..telling the cancer the party was over.." Truly an interesting and very complex man. Interesting what you said about Jimmy Page, I'm quite a fan of his too!

hey joe. i know that you have experimented with the techno side with 'engines', but i was just wondering if you have started to experiment with anything new. i have been playing guitar for about three years and am trying to learn how to play malmsteen style sweeps. i am experimenting with weird samples, i take a lot of influence from dream theatre and bands such as andromeda. i was wondering if any new bands/ artists have caught your attention. cheers and thanx for 'crystal planet' that is one hell of a song.

Eeeeeeeewwwwwwww!

LONDON (Reuters) - The makers of the handy spray lubricant WD-40 proudly list 2,000 uses for their product, from unsticking rusty screws or squeaky bicycle chains to polishing frying pans.

But British police have found another -- keeping the public from snorting cocaine off toilet lids in bars.

Police in the English city of Bristol said Tuesday they have been advising pub and nightclub owners to spray the colorless lubricant on toilet seats and other flat surfaces in the lavatory that customers often use to snort drugs.

Apparently, cocaine and spray lube don't mix.

"A chemical reaction takes place with the cocaine that causes it to congeal and become a mess so it's unusable," a police spokesman said. "It's one very small, very cheap way in which you can very seriously restrict the amount of drug use in your premises."

Constable Graham Pease, a liquor licensing officer, said he discovered the trick a few years ago while discussing with pub owners how to reduce drug use on their premises.

"We were discussing with licensees how we could keep cocaine from being snorted from surfaces," he told Reuters. "It came about that we wanted to spray something on surfaces that cocaine would stick to. And somebody mentioned WD-40."

The new use seems to have taken its makers by surprise.

"Its not meant to be ingested. It says so clearly on the can so we wouldn't advocate it for that purpose. But people will use it how they will," said a British spokeswoman for the San Diego, Calif-based WD-40 Co.

At Bar Excellence in Bristol, deputy manager Julian Barraud said it was part of the drug fighting arsenal.

"It does work. It's one of the tricks that we've got to try and tackle the problem," he said.

About A Stupid Husband

Fresh from my shower, I stand in front of the mirror complaining to my husband that my breasts are too small.

Instead of characteristically telling me it's not so, he uncharacteristically comes up with a suggestion. "If you want your breasts to grow, then every day take a piece of toilet paper and rub it between them for a few seconds."

Willing to try anything, I fetch a piece of toilet paper and stand in front of the mirror, rubbing it between my breasts.

"How long will this take?" I asked.

"They will grow larger over a period of years," my husband replies.

I stopped. "Do you really think rubbing a piece of toilet paper between my breasts every day will make my breasts larger over the years?"

Without missing a beat he says "Worked for your butt, didn't it?"

He's still alive, and with a great deal of therapy he may even walk again. Stupid, stupid man.

"its funny i thought you were a vietnam vetran for some reason ..lmao"

I figured that a lot of people did. I just played up to it when I first started posting here. I thought if I stuck around people would get to know more about me. I thought I would just let people develop their own assumptions. As Shakespeare said "What’s in a name? Would a rose by any other name not smell as sweet?" LMAO tooooooooooo!

"The Surreal Life is on VH1 now - watch it if you dare!"

My brother had that show on the other day when Mini Me got drunk, came tooling out on his scooter naked and pissed in the corner. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. There is just something very wrong with that show!

"NAMM MAN, Sorry to disappoint. The Socrates story is NOT an attempt to propagate pinko pacifist propaganda (whoa, nice alliteration). .........Having said that, I think the primary and consistent tenet of the piece is that it is not always wise to shoot first and ask questions later….."

Exactly, so when you get around shallow people that do, Mr. Peart reminds us to put up barriers to keep ourselves intact.

To all Liberals, It's not wise to spend first and ask questions later......;-)

"I thought your original nick was in relation to Vietnam and service during that era. I think that was promulgated by a discussion we had with jazzzzzzzzy regarding service"

Yea I picked up on that, it was just kind of funny to get pegged as a Vietnam vet by the name I chose and the feelings and beliefs I have about the Iraq war. Some were quick to label me as a war criminal, so when it was all said and done I just got a chuckle out of it.

Cuth, Civgeek

There are a lot of guys that work really hard that subscribe to the misguided propaganda that the labor unions spew. I don't care if someone chooses to belong or not to a union. What frost my ass is when I have to pay an inflated price for their efforts or get picketed. I don't follow them to where they buy their lunch, and when they pull into a Blimpie or Quizno's get on a megaphone and start calling them a rat in front of everyone. Especially if my sandwich prices are higher than my competitor. That's just wrong. Our society is based on free enterprise. If you’ve got the stones to risk your future and go into business for yourself. Why should your costs be controlled by a bunch of greedy gangsters (besides the ones at 1600 Pennsylvania avenue that don't believe in tax cuts).

I have the right to post a job opening for what ever I think its worth and what ever I WANT to afford. I am not holding a gun to someone's head to take it.

hey joe hey guys

its been ages since i been i here so ive got a few things to say: Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! Joe get well soon!

just a quick question:

does anybody know what van halens up to since theyre american tour finished in november? any news of a euro tour or a new album?

i got the new dream theater dvd live at budokan, its the best dvd ive ever seen. the set is fantastic. those guys are amazing.

speaking of dream theater, theyre guitarist john petrucci is releasing his first solo album in the very near future. the track listing has been posted to his website and some of the songs that he did on the G3 2001 tour are on there. its gonna be cool.

ive also got a whammy pedal. i just wanted to know what the setting is for the song crystal planet. im guessing its the shallow detune setting but im not sure.

also, the original members of cream are reuniting for four gigs at the royal albert hall in london.

also again.lol. i had the great honour of watching deep purple from right in front of the stage. i was almost in touching distance with steve morse.lol.

right so now ive bored you lot senseless, wots been happening satchland?lol

Zenfish- thank you again. When I was in my teens (quite a few years back now...) I got into a lot of rock and metal, and have never really stopped liking it, although I did also get into playing piano, and so started listening to loads of piano music. In the last 4 or 5 years though, I've really started listening to loads of my old albums, plus new ones added to the collection. I'm sad to say that although I did listen to the odd Van Halen track here and there, I never bought any of their albums, only a few singles. You have inspired me to correct this as soon as possible! Thanks for the advice about the albums too. I like your attitude about it's not about who is best, but about who does what- that is a great way of looking at things in general. Have a good evening! :-)

zinc master - i posted a similar question the other day... don't get an ipod...

ipods are for those who want something trendy and expensive over something cheaper and more functional... iriver make some good alternatives, as do rio karma. I've just ordered an iriver h120 - £199... what extra input do you need? the irivers are the cheapest/best ones that have line in inputs for recording... and also have digi ins... (and usb etc.)

Zenfish- I'm not a great improviser on the piano, baroque music is my main love. Then again, Bach was a great improviser! I love playing Scarlatti and Bach pieces, one day it is my dream to own a harpsichord, and who knows, even a clavichord! (Just call me "Data" from Star Trek!)

My knowledge of jazz and blues is somewhat sketchy, you may have noticed LOL!
