To CIVGEEK
Thanks for the reply!
I was begining to think I was invisible.
I don't actually work for a sawmill, but I do installation and service work in mills.
I am an apprentice electrician (IBEW Union Local 551 of Santa Rosa, Ca) finishing my 5th year of a 5 year apprenticeship. I sometimes work for a company here called "Industrial Electric Service Company", and sometimes other union contractors.
I never did become a rich-and-famous rock star.
That was my goal in the 80's.
I bought my first electric guitar in 1986, after getting a job and moving out of my aunts house shortly after turning 18.
She never let me have an electric, but I have an acoustic I bought at age 14.
Today I downloaded PowerTab and some Satriani Powertab files.
I practiced for 6 hours straight, trying to learn "Flying In A Blue Dream". I am on page 5 of 24 pages total!
Tough song, I am trying to figure out the hammer-on's, pull-off's and taps on page 6. I Haven't even attempted page 7 yet. I got my tab for "Flying In A Blue Dream" at www.mikesguitarsite.co.uk
Any help would be greatly appreciated, From anyone.
I don't know anyone local to be a mentor/tutor, and I can't afford lessons. I can keep rythm, and play chord, power chords, and bar chords, just not lead yet.
P.S I don't have an amp, I am playing un-plugged with my Kramer electric (darn .010 guage strings, need to try 9's!).
Good night

Steven Wilde, yeah I know what you mean on it being almost as much fun to produce someone else's stuff as it is your own! It's cool, I guess it's just nice to be able to interpret somebody's ideas and materialise them, sometimes in a way that they hadn't thought of themselves. It's all good.
regards behind-the-scenes of production stuff, alex loaned me a couple of metallica DVD's.....one of them is the making-of-the-Black Album. It's real interesting....it's basically the 4 band members and the producer and engineer talking in detail about the tracks on the album, there's some amazing insight there.....it's quite inspiring! take it easy my friend, hope you're okay today!
civgeek, dude, one day I shall visit Portland and cook you my special baked beans. They are the shit......so much more interesting than plain baked beans! You just got to season them with the right things (i'm not talking about weed here, it's completely legal!)!
Austin, I hope you do get to go to that EJ show on the 22nd, that'd be amazing! I wish I could go see him, I've been watching his set on the G3 DVD so much it's starting to wear thin! hehe
jazzzy, good to see you bro! Dude that's good news that you got moved, cause the place you were in sounds like such a shithole! yeah Chrome JS is going to rock! I personally reckon it's probably cause Ibanez wanted to justify the production costs of the Chrome-Top Jem! Obviously, reinstating the machinery and computers used to do a chorming job is expensive, and if you're only using it to do the top of a limited run of high-end guitars, it's hard to justify. if you then decide to use that same machinery to make another, all-chrome guitar, where each one is going to sell at a high price, all-of-a-sudden you're really getting your money back, with a nice christmas bonus tacked on for good measure!
PFields, interesting question - i'm in it for both. I make money out of teaching guitar, but at the moment I only write music for fun. I'd like to properly produce it in the next couple of years and then maybe see if anyone could sell it, like Guitar9.com and people like that, but I'm not aiming towards anything too serious....it's just not going to happen! hehe
bahduh, happy birthday dude! 30 is a good birthday.....you get properly classed as a responsible adult, someone whom people generally look up to, but you're not old enough to be boring! hahaha

For those of you who dont like the dentist dont read on...
I had to have a filling last week and from the day after I was experiencing really bad toothache so much so that it was giving me a raging headache. Anyway this morning I went back as the pain was too much to bear and especially as I didnt get any sleep last night. I get in the chair and, to cut a long story short, the dentist decided to remove the nerve from my tooth and then to get me to come back next week for root-canal surgery. Oh joy oh joy!!!!
Aarren
Oh and the best bit is that if I hadnt had the filling I wouldnt have known at all as there was no pain before the filling!!!!!!

Joe, great to hear that you are back on your feet!
I need some help guys. Has anyone learned how to play "Cathedral" by Eddie VH? The tab is online and seems pretty accurate, but having to do the volume swells on almost every single note seems pretty difficult. I have a chorus pedal, but no delay pedal.....is the delay pedal absolutely necessary? Any tips on how to play this song would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
