Hey Joe, my name is Alon Malek, I am from South Africa and I am 16 years old turning 17 on the 28th of March. This is my first time posting on your website. I started listening to your music in the middle of last year, and you have really changed my view on music. I used to be more of a Metal head, listening to bands like Metallica, Slipknot and the list goes on. But the first time I heard you play, you opened my eyes and made me see the truth about music. You have inspired me so much, that i even went and bought a JS100, now i know that that it is not as great as the JS1000/1200 or even the 2000, but in South Africa, things are very expensive and i cannot afford to buy the better models, The JS100 is perfect for me and i am soon going to replace the Ibanez stock pickups with DiMarzio's. Unfortunatly since i do live in South Africa, the suppliers of DiMarzio have stopped bringing them in, so i had to order them overseas, and they should be arriving in a couple of days. I am not going to talk to you about your guitar, but i am going to talk to you about your music, your music has inspired me to take guitar seriously, i used to do nothing but play cover songs of metal bands, and my knowledge of theory was very limited. I bought your DVD Live in San Fransico and watched it the day i bought it. It was at that moment that i made my decision to take guitar more seriously and that one day i could be a "Joe Satriani JR". You are a very talented musician and I thank you for inspiring me. I hope you feel better, and im hoping that one day in the near future you will come tour South Africa and share your knowledge and music with us South Africans, and when you do come, i will be first in line to buy tickets at any cost. Feel Better Joe, Your the Man!

SteveeT- Yes, Good health! That is what We all must strive for when We can! I am so glad you have been blessed with good health! Truly is A Lovely thing! I was born with ill health from day 1 but only untill I got older, is when it got really out of hand. But I will be fine! I alway's feel so blessed 99% of the time! I can't complain! I truly believe We are all here for the glory of A higher purpose! And if We have the faith to walk, Good thing's Will We be led to! Steve, Hey, Thank's for being kind, and understanding! I thank God, for Freind's like You! Hang in there, and May You be richly blessed!..............................BIG BAD MOON- Hi, Ya' know, I have had a lil' experiance with 30 watters and practice amp's, even Marhall's. And thtere supposed to be noisy! depending on the effects You use, and processer's, a lot of noise can be cured, also going to 'monster cables, Monster brand that is, very good choice,. and (Noise and hum effect's)The ds-1 shoud have a low noise threshhold, But often with small watt amp's isn't enough(I make My own amp's!) I think it's the circuitartry of those lil'amp's that make the differnce? But there are some noise and hum boxes, that will eleminate all the noise in those deal's! check around at Your local music store, Or Musican's freind catalog, will have some nice soise supresser's! Good Luck!

Zenfish, my husband has some Django CDs which I have listened to- I love the relaxed sound! I didn't know though that Eddie Van Halen was jazz-influenced?

Steven- so glad to see you posting, and moving about a bit! The sooner you get back rocking out the happier you'll be, I know! Take care of yourself, and thanks for wishing us well with the house! Speak to you soon :-)

maestro_89, double-check your device setup in Cubase, and check your soundcard manager in the taskbar -it may have opened inputs 1+2 but muted all the others.
Steven Wilde, yeah good vibes are being sent your way too amigo! I'm sorry they're not working too well, but they are being sent none-the-less! My buddy Alex came over again today to work on the track we started last weekend.....he is so thrilled with the work I've done on it during the week, it's really satisfying for me to see the excitement that it brings! The track is going to be one we'll work on for a while yet, but when it finally get's done I'll let y'all know about it!

take care hombre, best regards to you :-)

big bad moon 1889 I use a DS-1 as my main distortion sound, I get some hissing out of the pedal, but that only happens if you turn the distortion anywhere past about 1 or 2 o'clock. Once the dist. is past that point, you get some hissing or buzzing. The way I got my DS-1 to sound good was by putting it at Joe's settings, which I believe was and might still be (if he still uses it as his main distortion sound), Tone: 9 o'clock-ish, Dist: Max, and Volume: about 1 o'clock or 2. I set my DS-1 up like that, turned all the EQ's on my amp to 0, and then started fiddling around with the EQ on my amp to get the sound I wanted, I also ended up turning the Tone on the DS-1 to about 10 o'clock for a bit more highs but still enough lows. Try that, you can probably get the sound you want by doing that. Set up your DS-1 first, turn your EQ's on your amp to 0, then fix the EQ's on your amp to get the sound you want. That should work out fine.

Joe was down in Toronto last summer with Deep Purple and that was one helluva show. The opening band sucked, but once Joe was on stage it was like a whole new world. I want to kill a lot of people who were in that audience who didnt show up till the middle of Joe's set just cause they wanted to see Deep Purple. If ya want to catch him he is more likely to come to cities where there are actually people lol.

On a side note i heard a song a while back called Somewhere Over The Rainbow and the artist was apparantly Joe Satriani. Does anyone know if he recorded that song at all cause I have a great idea for a instrumental version that he could play. I was at a tsunami benefit concert last night and a band played the same song with a singer and I thought it would be awesome to record that song with Joe playing the lead melody part and a whole band backing him up using a arrangment of that song that is out there. It would be pretty sweet to do and I would be the guy playing the lead alto sax part (sax is my main instrument and guitar is a sideline education)

Me and Mr Vai - The opening band on that bill, if it was the same as ours, was Thin Lizzy. Absolutley a classic band. Lots of great tunes. I would suggest that you pick up some of their stuf. Well worth the money.

Suzie, 962 - I didn't realize that there was a such thing as baked beans that taste good! Man I hate those things. The worst part of summer BBQ.

Big Bad Moon ok, man here are some advices; to get that F"#%$ noise out. You have to buy some nice wires to plug your guitar (monster, planet wave, dimarzzio); also use the Boss noise supresor pedal.
For making some nice over drived chords, you should try the Boss super overdrive pedal.

hi joe, hope u doing well again. Is there a possibility that u come to Europe (germany) this year. It was the birthday present of my boyfriend to fly to America, visiting the house of blues @ vegas and beeing @ your concert and backstage. everybody who knows him was participated in the present. The day before the concert we went there, it was raining and say were telling me that u are really ill. I was sorry for u and for us.... ;( My best friend collects electric guitars and he is a big fan of u (like my boyfriend) I was looking for a guitar for 2 month or so, because his 40th birthday is nearby. So I thought about let u sign it and give it to him as a present. Two of my most important "friend"s would have been really happy.

Is there a possibility to get an autograph of u? is there a address to write to? We don't have the money (time) to come to Vegas on April.... Sorry for asking u all that, because I know u would have been there if u were able to...

so get well... sara PS: sorry for my english, I try to do my very best ;)

Peace out my Dude! (and let's hope I'm wrong...bout the frequency...that is)
