Hi everyone... Yes, I'm still alive. ;-)

I just received a "Where are you?" email from michelle, so I thought I'd stop by and say hello.

I'm still having computer problems. I only have a dial-up connection here at home, and my computer's modem is not working correctly. The whole thing is one big headache, and I just don't feel like dealing with it now.

So...I've taken a long break from the internet. I use my parents' computer to quickly check my email; other than that, I haven't been spending much time online. I know a few people here have sent me stuff and I have not responded. I'll get back to everyone as soon as I can, but that might not be for a week or so.

I'm moving back into my dorm on January 22, so I'll be back to my normal posting habits shortly after that. I'll post a few "This Year In Music"-related questions upon my return...hopefully we can get some good discussions going here again.

A few quick updates:

- Back in December, I said something about having a job interview. I ended up getting the job...I am now the news editor of the my school's newspaper, the Daily 49er. I'm really looking forward to working at the paper this semester...it'll be cool.

- I got a VERY cool stereo about two weeks ago. It has an AM/FM receiver, a 6-CD changer, and 6 speakers. The coolest thing about it, though, is that the stereo came set in the dashboard of my brand spankin' new Mazda3. ;-) It's an awesome car...I absolutely love it.

I'll post pictures soon. In the meantime, I am happy to announce that I am now accepting contributions to the "Help Austin pay off his car loan." fund.

- I'm going to see the Dixie Dregs tomorrow. They're playing a gig about five miles away from my house...woohoo!

- If all goes well, I'll be able to go to an Eric Johnson gig with marimariSRV on January 22. I'm really looking forward to that...I hope things work out.

Well, that's all for now. Again, I'll be back here on a regular basis in a week or so. I'll also go back and read all of the messages that were posted during the month that I've been away so I will still be able to say that I have read every single word that has ever been posted on T2J. ;-) Yeah, I have no life...LOL.

Civgeek, thanks for instructing young whippersnappers to check out Lizzy!!!! Only problem I have with the current concoction, no original members, how can they use the name?? No Lynott, no Downey= "Not Lizzy"...

For those who bought tickets to the cancelled shows through ticket master, be forewarned that they issued automatic refunds when the concert was cancelled. Therefore, you don't have a ticket and have to purchase a new ticket when they do on sale. If you show up at the rescheduled concert with your ticket, as is says to do in the Road section of this site, you won't get in!! [JOE'S WEB MASTER, CAN YOU UPDATE THE SITE TO REFLECT THIS FACT?].

So, Joe, given the situation, will there be a presale for your registered fans?

I have been placed into another residence on campus. Which means I escaped the Dirty south. I had no idea why they placed a grad student in a freakin freshman dorm! the dorm kept getting dirtier and dirtier...around a week back I saw some kids puking in the sink and some dick was taking a piss in the corridor!!!! it kept getting stinkier. but most of those kids were nice to me cause they knew I would whip their ass if they misbehaved while I was sleeping or reading.

Univ has been ultra busy. I wake up at 7:00 and get back at 11:45 at night! But I'm happy...the work is awesome. This hippie chick asked me out to a party on friday night.....but I couldnt go because I had to wake up at 6:00 on a freakin saturday!

I am a tonne of pages behind but thanks to michelle for emailing me Joe's message. I cant wait for the JS Chrome! I'm buying it as soon as I collect enough cash. Was watching G3 03 yesterday and was like "whoa" Satch looks all badass in that leather jacket and crazy hat.

Will be on here more often from now because I find myself isolated from everything.

you know i'm a big fan of cats too and the fact that i lived with 7 cats all togather, and how they all went pee and they would not use thier litter box..... i am not that big of a fan now....lol but i just gave them all away to good owners. jason and david, they wanted them and i told them what they did but they said they wanted them.....now they have them. you know i am only 13 yeas old and i play guitar.... i am not tyring not to brag but i can play metallica,3 to 4 songs of them, i can play one son of country, hotel california, soul existence, cannon(the piano), some songs that i made up, some steve muth.... and i am working on some jimi hendrix and some joe satchriani..... i love your music joe i am so inspired by you ....i started to teach my self in lake havasu arizona.... i listen o a lot of tool, metallica, dreamtheater, joe satriani, shadows fall, all that remains, alice in chains, saliva, ozzy, linkon park, linardskinard, basicaly....... 98.9 the rock, i could go on forever. i do not like listening to rap i hate it, and i really, really dont like alternitive... only 98.9

Thanks for the reply! I was begining to think I was invisible. I don't actually work for a sawmill, but I do installation and service work in mills.

I am an apprentice electrician (IBEW Union Local 551 of Santa Rosa, Ca) finishing my 5th year of a 5 year apprenticeship. I sometimes work for a company here called "Industrial Electric Service Company", and sometimes other union contractors.

I never did become a rich-and-famous rock star. That was my goal in the 80's.

I bought my first electric guitar in 1986, after getting a job and moving out of my aunts house shortly after turning 18.

She never let me have an electric, but I have an acoustic I bought at age 14.

Today I downloaded PowerTab and some Satriani Powertab files.

I practiced for 6 hours straight, trying to learn "Flying In A Blue Dream". I am on page 5 of 24 pages total!

Tough song, I am trying to figure out the hammer-on's, pull-off's and taps on page 6. I Haven't even attempted page 7 yet. I got my tab for "Flying In A Blue Dream" at www.mikesguitarsite.co.uk

Any help would be greatly appreciated, From anyone. I don't know anyone local to be a mentor/tutor, and I can't afford lessons. I can keep rythm, and play chord, power chords, and bar chords, just not lead yet.

P.S I don't have an amp, I am playing un-plugged with my Kramer electric (darn .010 guage strings, need to try 9's!).

Steven Wilde, yeah I know what you mean on it being almost as much fun to produce someone else's stuff as it is your own! It's cool, I guess it's just nice to be able to interpret somebody's ideas and materialise them, sometimes in a way that they hadn't thought of themselves. It's all good.

regards behind-the-scenes of production stuff, alex loaned me a couple of metallica DVD's.....one of them is the making-of-the-Black Album. It's real interesting....it's basically the 4 band members and the producer and engineer talking in detail about the tracks on the album, there's some amazing insight there.....it's quite inspiring! take it easy my friend, hope you're okay today!
