Wish Me Luck :-)

Once again it is 7:30am...my exam is at 9:00am...am I nervous? Not yet. When I'm waiting outside the exam hall freezing my nips off, having forgotten to put on deodorant and being as unshaven as a badgers arse...then I will be nervous.

It's two exams, 90minutes each and the follow directly after each other. Which means, yes I have to be sat in the same spot, on a rigid plastic chair with tendonitis occuring from writing roughly 1 page every 5 minutes, for 3hrs. This is not going to be what Matt Stone and Trey Parker would call a "Hoot and a holla".

Well anywayz, I'm sure I'll be fine, everyone have a good day now and keep it real...as they say. :-)

Jazzy: Here's the basic info from the product and services page on Chellee.com :

$999.99 for base model

Base model includes a solid body of ash, mahogany, alder, or basswood, a bolt on maple neck, two DiMarzio humbucking pickups, five position switch, a fixed bridge, chrome hardware, pickguard, and an oil/ satin urethane finish.

Options

Third Pickup (single coil) $50.00

Gloss Finish (natural) $120.00

Swirl Finish $500.00

Gloss with Stain $150.00

Book Matched Flame Top $200.00

Seven String Model $50.00

Left Handed Model No Charge

Birdseye Maple Neck $60.00

I should add that these prices are for Peter's model one design, however he is easily capable of building you anything you want: strat, LP, PRS, Tele, thru neck, set neck and any combination you can think up. You just need to send him your idea so he can give you an idea of the costs involved. Heck, Peter has even been thinking of building an electric from a solid plank of wood, neck and body!!

My model one ran me extra for the 3rd pu, transparent red finish, birdseye neck and cool inlays (ripped off of some Taylor inlay designs that Masta P modified for my guitar), the compound radiused neck and the complicated wiring scheme I requested. It was definitely worth it though, and cheap for the build quality. The way I see it, I could basically get my S470 with all of the custom features and improvements that I had always wanted at a great price. Even though Peter and i are good friends, I would never have payed him to build me a guitar if he wasnted as gifted as he is. The only completed demo of my model one is the clip on chellee.com and my site ( chrispeters.net) called Stevie Ray Hendrix. It shows off the raw blues rock tones (mainly the middle pu through a freaked out fender). I've got a tune I'm working on now that shows off a much wider range of tones on the guitar, especially the high gain lead sound. Let me know, and I'll email what I've got so far to you....it'll probably be at least a meg.

SteveeT: I should be attending Jemfest this year. I actually got up and jammed with Matt King of Course of Evolution at last year's show. it was a blast! Great experience! Are you performing at the fest?

If anyone is thinking of buying a ticket to see Joe Satriani play at The Forum in Melbourne Australia on Friday, March 18 or Saturday, March 19 please let me know. I have a ticket for March 18 but would like to sell it or swap it for a ticket for March 19 as my birthday is on March 18 and my wife is very unimpressed that I have bought a ticket for March 18, I bought the ticket before the March 19 show was even announced. If you do want to buy my ticket to the March 18 show or swap your ticket of March 19 with mine please let me know by emailing me at jliebenberg@hotkey.net.au cheers jonny

Delfino, dammit, now I feel really bad. Thanks for telling me that, I shall contact those who forwarded it to me and let them know. I think the concept of that being a joke is almost as sick as it would be if it were true.....there's some twisted f*ck*rs on this planet that really want locking up :-(
jazzzzy, yeah I checked out Peter's guitars. They're pretty awesome aren't they?! I'm still in awe at the fact that he only charges $1000 as well!
Powerslave, It'll have to go on the CD Wanted List.....which is about as long as Godzilla's arm.....that sounds familiar! hehe

Re: slanshroom

there's no debate to have, because we're both on the same side :)

i know what they do in Korea & China & other parts of Asia. i've seen the photos of the dogs waiting for their turn to get their throats slit. but you know what - i can't stop what goes on in those countries. but when it comes to my own, Australia i expect better from people.

i've been a member of WSPA for a while now & i've found out about the worst animal cruelty in the world! it breaks my heart to see people in Bali carving up turtles whilte they are still alive. there's no excuse for it - they use religous reasons as an excuse to torture thousand of these wonderful things.

and Bile farms in China are just awful - death is a release for those poor bears :(

ahhhh people shit me that's all! *bah

Jazzzzy - The sitting down is the only reason I can think of. It been done that way for so long now it's just tradition. Plus if you put buttons where they are on an electric, the guitar is all out of balance. That's why most "strollers" use the sound hole strap. Beyond that it's anybody's guess.

Delfino - I feel your pain. This week is Chemistry week with the mid term finale on Friday. What a way to end the week.

Civgeek, Jazzy, I think that yes, classical is meant to be played a-sittin with thumb firmly placed on back of neck and therefore another mechanical (screw or other) intrusion into the soundbox was deemed uneccessary and a potential nuisance to the soundbox vibration and true acoustic sound. Nothing more nothing less... I also think there was/is a move afoot to make it as humanly difficult as possible for dudes and dudettes that play classical to busk...lol

CLimber - I like the site. It didn't take that long at all to load. (broadband) In the Band section there are no names. Not hard to figure who's you at this point, but something to possibly add later. Other than that nice job. You should check out this site. Striktnyne I think you will like them. Plus they are always up for shows. They are fairly popular in the Bay Area.

In honor of Jazzzzzy and his alchohol induced name change.

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair, and a dress cut down to there
She would Merengue and do the Cha-Cha
And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar
Across the crowded floor, they worked from 8 'til 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more

Chorus:
At the Copa, Copa Cabana
The hottest spot North of Havana
Here at the Copa, Copa Cabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa

They fell in love

Copa, Copa Cabana

His name was Rico, he wore a diamond
He was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancing there
And when she finished, he called her over
But Rico went a bit too far, Tony sailed across the bar
And then the punches flew, and chairs were smashed in two
There was blood and a single gun shot
But just who shot who

{Chorus}
She lost her love

Copa, Copa Cabana
Copa, Copa Cabana
Copa Cabana

Copa, Copa Cabana
Life in Havana
Have a banana
Music and passion, always in fashion

Her name is Lola, she was a showgirl
And that was 30 years ago, when they used to have a show
Now it's a disco, but not for Lola
Still in the dress she used to wear, faded feathers in her hair
She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half blind
She lost her youth and she lost her Tony
Now she lost her mind

{Chorus}
Don't fall in love
Don't fall in love
Copa Cabana
Copa Cabana

Faraz Anwar - Pakistan's Numero Uno Guitarist.

Joe Listen to these tracks....

Album Review of Faraz Anwar's Instrumental album "Abstract Point Of View"

This may be a mistaken assumption, but one imagines that the yellow pages in Pakistan do not contain a huge selection of guitar teachers specializing in rock, metal, fusion and jazz. Apparently influenced by an early Malmsteen video, a young Faraz Anwar honed his craft from the Paul Gilbert tutorials – and has emerged as a guitar virtuoso with a standard of musicianship and classical sensibility that stands shoulder to shoulder with the Satriani / Vai / McAlpine / Johnson set. This is his debut album, essentially a solo project that was released in 2001 with zero acclaim, and has now been re-released by Lion records.

Hello people!

I've been a fan of the guitar for a long time and also of Joe Satriani, and up until recently have'nt had the drive to start playing.

I bought myself a cheap guitar to learn on, but would love some pointer and starting tips, I love the blues and wanna play my way towards some good blues.

My MSN is : tove_naar@hotmail.com

Appreciate any help given :D

Thanks!
