here it is Dolphin story

Nov 23, 8:23 AM (ET)

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Reuters) - A pod of dolphins circled protectively round a group of New Zealand swimmers to fend off an attack by a great white shark, media reported on Tuesday.

Lifesavers Rob Howes, his 15-year-old daughter Niccy, Karina Cooper and Helen Slade were swimming 300 feet off Ocean Beach near Whangarei on New Zealand's North Island when the dolphins herded them -- apparently to protect them from a shark.

"They started to herd us up, they pushed all four of us together by doing tight circles around us," Howes told the New Zealand Press Association (NZPA).

Howes tried to drift away from the group, but two of the bigger dolphins herded him back just as he spotted a nine-foot great white shark swimming toward the group.

"I just recoiled. It was only about 2 meters away from me, the water was crystal clear and it was as clear as the nose on my face," Howes said, referring to a distance of six feet.

"They had corralled us up to protect us," he said.

The lifesavers spent the next 40 minutes surrounded by the dolphins before they could safely swim back to shore. The incident happened on October 30, but the lifesavers kept the story to themselves until now.

Environment group Orca Research said dolphins attacked sharks to protect themselves and their young, so their actions in protecting the lifesavers was understandable.

"They could have sensed the danger to the swimmers and taken action to protect them," Orca's Ingrid Visser told NZPA.

ibanezmike and pp0, the first thing to do with a JS1000 is give the trem loads of sh*t, then unlock the nut, give it a bit more sh*t and tune it. Give it yet more abuse, tune it again then lock the nut. Check it's tuning with the nut locked....it should be ok. If there's any fine adjustment needed, use the fine tuners....if there's any major adjustment needed, unlock the nut again.

It takes a good couple of months (or 3-4 weeks if you play a few hours a day) for the bridge to settle, and when it does, it'll stay that way. That said, the Edge Pro bridge isn't as stable as the Lo-Pro Edge, but I'd imagine the Edge Pro II (this year's incarnation of the Edge Pro) is slightly better than the 03/04 build.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Joe....I know you said you know it's not his fault, but unfortunately he has no say in what happens on the Ibanez drawing board. it's all about cost, and committees and board meetings. The Edge Pro design is being introduced across most of the higher-end Ibanez range. The RG's, jem's and JS's are all getting the same bridge, while the S's get the ZR trem, which cuts down on cost and production times immensely. It's much easier than running 4 or 5 different permutations on a Floyd Rose design, like they used to.

jazzzzzy, it pains your ass to eat any criticism, there's the rub! I totally agree dude
Steven Wilde, yeah i'm not bad bro, how about you? Enjoying your element I hope?! things are not bad here....I still gotta save a bit of money to replace the multifx pedal, but for now I'm using the line out on my amp straight to the line in on my sound card. it's mono, but it's cabinet voiced so it's not too bad. I've been working on/recording a sort of odd-ball jazzy thing with a touch of blues thrown in. I have no idea where the influence came from, but it's good fun, and just strange. It'll sound good when I work out an appropriate arrangement and have a good think about it....it's definitely not one to be rushed! hehe.

Regards passing up dates with 2 hot ladies....that's hilarious! haha, what a fine example of self restraint. I totally get what you're saying though, me and my girlfriend split up last summer (which was a GOOD thing) and I've been achieving more of what I want to do ever since....no distraction! take care bro!

powerslave, no problemo, and, for your interest, read the above message to ibanezmike and pp0.

"Namm, a few days ago you mentioned you had the chance to see The Surreal Life. Funny as hell, wasn't it. LOL! Verne is a freaky dude"

I was visiting my brother last weekend and he had it on at his house. I had never seen it before, but I LMAO. The return of Peter Brady, living with Minnie Me! Funny stuff.

Sorry to see your steelers go down in flames, but last year I bet before the season that the Patriots would repeat. The deal was that people had to give me two to one odds and place a minimum bet of $100. I had three takers. So if the Pats loose in the superbowl I am out $300. If they win I am going to take my $600 and my wife to Miami. Any word on TO. being healthy for the Super Bowl?

Big Bunny - Don't take offense at this it is just a question. Why do you seem OK with livestock being used for food but get weird about dogs being used. I'm not a vegatarian by any strech of the imagination and honestly have issues with most vegatarians. I was just curious. Nice factiod about the Capybara. I used to watch a lot of nature shows and I remember these giant S. American guigea pigs. The Anacondas like them too. The big rodent we have up here is the Nutria. It looks like a beaver w/ a rat type tail. UGLY.

Bahduh - Mark, try writting your posts in MS Word, then copy and paste to the board. If it doesn't go through you still have it. Then try posting it in two parts. This will save you some aggrevation.

962, Ibanez Mike, PPO - If the nut is locked. what would cause the trem to go out of tume. It would seem that if the trem is set up right and the spring tension matches the string tension ... The only thing I can think of is some friction at the posts. Am I looking at this right? I've just never had problems with either of my trems once the strings were streched and the nut locked.

Webmaster, Do you think it would be a good idea to have separate message boards on the interact tab? That way there would be message boards for those who want to talk directly to Joe, those who want to discuss equipment, and those who want to shoot the breeze about every day life. Oh, and one for those who like to use offensive language. It would also be great if the site allowed users to rely to messages in lieu of a general place to post messages. Often I do not have a lot of time to read through dozens of messages to see if someone has answered my questions. Thanks.

Clarky, did you say the Reading Royals is a soccer team over there? lol! That's pretty cool. We don't go to many hockey games, but we always have fun when we do. http://www.royalshockey.com/

Simon, I'd send you a truckload of snow if I could! I thought we were getting hammered until I saw pictures of New England. Holy crap man, they really got hit hard! It's all fun and games till it starts to melt. Then the trouble starts. lol! It's very pretty right now though. We'll be getting more snow in a few days.

Suzie, our kids had a 2 hour delay yesterday and today. My daughter told me this morning that some idiot almost hit her when she was crossing the street yesterday morning. Since there was a delay, the school traffic signs werent flashing the 15 mph speed limit. I guess this idiot figured he didn't have to go slow because the lights weren't flashing (nevermind the kids crossing the street). My son had already gotten over the big pile of snow and onto the sidewalk, and my daughter was trying to get over the snowpile when the car came buzzing by beeping at her. Friggin' a-hole! The plows come by and close off any walkways the school personel have cleared on that block, so the kids that cross at that corner have to jump over the snowpile. I told my kids to go a different way today. Some drivers are just so ignorant. It would have taken 30 seconds off the guys time to slow down. Needless to say, I also gave my kids a lecture about crossing the streets in this weather.

2 pages to go, Be back later ~

Angie - It might sound weird but I think the single postboard is why a lot of us like this forum. It exposes you to topics and conversations that you might not have realized you were interested in. Also, most everyone, if they are answering a question, puts the name of who the post is directed to out front. So it makes it easy to skim through. Stick with it. I think that in the end we will convert you. take care.

civgeek, precisely, once the strings are properly stretched it should be fine unless the knife edge and the posts are buggered.

oh, no offense taken :)

actually i'm one of those pathetic people who wishes they could be a vegetarian but keeps getting sucked in by Mcdonalds Cheeeeese burgers *Homer Simpson Drool ;P______*

i'm actually not really worried about people eating cats & dogs - it's more the fact that they don't kill them before they cook them!! i know livestock don't have it easy & they must know something is going on being herded into trucks etc......but at least for them they get killed straight out (at least they are suppose to anyway)

it's more animal suffering that shits me.

also about the Capybara's - arn't they Great! i love the way the babies take a ride on their parents backs over the water. and those anacondas they give me the willies eeekk! they swallow the whole Capybara. i hate the way they film those documentries they make it look like the camera is the anaconda & that he's going to get the furry rodent! ahhhh

What is it that makes us Satch fans? I am addicted to his music! Countless times I have asked people if they know who Joe Satriani is and they say, "No". Other people say they know who he is but do not like his style of music. To each his own. I, for one, am hooked for life! :)

Hi to all...........I have emailed the venue joe is playing at in sydney regarding their policy on cameras. They tell me as a general rule "no Cameras" but it depends on the artist and what their wishes are. Can anyone tell me if joe has a problem with taking photos of his shows. If there is a problem I will respect his desicion. I'm just trying to plan my trip to Sydney and don't want to take any un-nessesary gear with me.
