We've been hearing about the connection of heavy music and violence for a long time... and yesterday Blabbermouth reported about this article with +70 musicians, including Tommy Shawn (Styx), Sandy West (The Runaways), Matt Bissonette, Steve Vai, Eddie Ojeda (Twisted Sister), Steve Vai, Tom S. Eglund (Evergrey), Albert Bouchard (Blue Oyster Cult), Vinny Appice, Carmine Appice, Joe Lynn Turner, Zak Stevens (Savatage), Paul Di'Anno (ex-Iron Maiden) and yeah... STEVE VAI!!! discussing about heavy music and violence... very interesting stuff... a great response to the conservative writers and press (check the link below)

Delfino- HAPPY 18th! And 1400th! :-) Have a pint on me (doubt it'll be ONE though- have a good evening tonight!)
Steven- Thanks, well now the week-end is here it's nice just to relax. Matt has to work Saturday mornings at the moment, hopefully that'll only have to be until he finishes his postgraduate course he's doing 'til September. Then I can start thinking about applying for mine! It's all about the quids though, moving home sure does put a big dent into the finances! Take care and hope your day pans out well!
SteveeT- no I'm not a Katie Melua fan. Like I said I'm not so keen on that Norah Jones / Katie Melua / Jamie Cullum stuff. I quite like Trad Jazz though, big band stuff, especially when you see it live. We sometimes go to a local Jazz club, and there's something real cool and laid back about it! Getting back to KM though- if you didn't think she was lovely looking like you do, would you still like her music as much? Seriously though, each to their own and all that, I really don't mean to offend! LOL!!! :-)

Ibanez89, (belated) hapy birthday wishes to you too! :-)
everyone, I just uploaded a very rough cut of a track I've been working on. It's kind of funny, the first minute sounds like a talk show theme, but it improves! haha. I recorded it all using the voiced line-out on my amp, and just used my guitar, amp and wah pedal for the tones, so all gain comes courtesy of JJ tubes.
The line out is mono, so the guitars are all mono at the moment, and I have no bass compression so the bass is uneven, to say the least, but lead and bass guitars will get re-recorded eventually. Check it out if you got time, the track's called Winter Pallace:

The university interview thing was so layed back it was unbelievable, it was 3 interviewees and one interviewer...we got asked "What are you favourite computer games?"...so obviously I said "Halo 2, and Multi-theft auto, the online version of GTA:VC"...they seemed impressed...so fingers crossed.

Zenfish,
Agreed...the synth sounds like crap to me too, but the solo was memorable for it's day...kinda like the "Beat It" solo ...Eddie helped break ground....did you mean Live without a Net?
I'm DEFINITELY for Joe....maturity in playing, taste, balls, technique, bluesy...Joe's got it all.....and a great attitude too!

962,
congrats on the new Yam Bass....nothin lke a new axe to chop some wood with....yeah...the compression surely keeps the bass signal under control...specially when recording....boomy without it! Go Jaco, Go
(((((((((((())))))))))))(((((((((((()))))))))))(((((((((((()))))))))))))
Suzie2000,
about Katie Melua, if she was not visually appealing to me, and I simply heard her music...I would be drawn to the calm, lucid pool of her quiet soul....when I listen to Joe's music...I really don't hear anger there...his music is borne from a good place in his soul. You don't offend me for not sharing my views, as a matter of fact...because you can approach me peacefully on a subject that we may not see eye to eye on, is a great compliment to me & your open mindedness.
As always a pleasure to communicate with you. Peace, Love & Happiness!

TSARKIS- Thank's for the post.
i am so sorry for the viloence, that "metal" has taken on while RAP "artist's" can shout anger, and promote, and dose add to viloence evryday! While, Shouting hate, and racist stament's all the time!, and degrading material. And it's accepted, even win's ton's of Grammies!
BUT I am from the Oakland, Berkeley Ghetto's, and the one thing I have learned, Is simply this: Viloence breed's viloence.
Angst, breed's anger that seethes into music, and Our daily lives. MUSIC No matter what the form, can be taken for good or evil. Destructive or poistive. It's the individual, Who Chooses which Path they want to turn and Follow. Heavy metal DOSE NOT HAVE TO BE AGRESSIVE AND FULL OF ANGER! But, a plesant experinance on guitar tech. wizardry, and Fun thing's to learn! Also a poistive outlook for Many who wish to Experiance the guitar at it's wildest! Thank's again!
Have a ver Nice Day!
And Welcome to the site!

Joe!! Hope you got well again after your pneumotica!...?
I recently bought a JS1200CA and I'm very proud to own one.
Just, what I also wanted to say: It's a great guitar. I thank you for creating this guitar and for your music. Maybe you can remember the "Musikmesse" in Frankfurt in 2004? I stand in the first row and you gave me a pick and I went to you for getting my purse signed. ;)
I guess, you can't remember.. so many people.
What I wanted to ask:
I'm playing my js1200 through a Triple X top.
Is there anything I can to do to reduce the gain or to make it a bit more sounding a JSX? I use a peavey 412JS box. Would it really be better to use a triple x box? they are so expensive and hardly to get second-hand.
bye
