Michelle Too bad Deary!! You picked the wrong guy. I am man enough to admit that I was a HUGE Partrige family fan when I was young. However MY Michelle is going to be mad at you as I'm going to sing that for the rest of the night. LOL

Cheese - Corvallis ? Corvallis?. You know how to get to Corvallis from Portland? Drive south 'till you smell it, drive west 'till you step in it. LOL

Hey Joe when is the next time you are going to be in Canada I want to come to another show. I was highly impressed with your last show in Toronto that next time your in I will be there. Also when does the JSX amp head come out and what is the approximate price range on it, I am considering getting a cabinet amp of some sort maybe Ibanez or Fender and putting a amp head on it.

Later

Steve

What a day.

Watched the G3 '03 DVD last night for maybe the 2nd or 3rd time since I'd bought it. Damned near cried at how beautiful a song Little Wing is. It's not like I hadn't heard a few different renditions, but something about it just touched me. Very spiritual moment.

A few hours later, I wake up shivering and wanting to throw up....never did.....finally went back to bed, and felt just fine when I got back up.

Then I made the mistake of checking the mail. Too many bills. Can we say *lots* of overtime in the next couple of weeks?

Went from one of the happiest states a person can be in to "Fuck this" in a span of about 12 hrs.

*sigh*

Cheese101: I know what you mean about life being short and spedning money on concerts. I have very few regrets, but I do wish I had been able to see Joe in concert a few more times than just once (so far).

meandmrvai: Just as a rough price, the JSX head runs about $1,100 - 1.300 US. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_id/112254

Hey Joe, or anyone else in the "know".

For the Australian tour, will you be making a DVD, because that would be incredible, and I could imagine it would have a huge sale success, since you haven't been for a decade or so.

Please say yes!...

Cheers,

Kendal.

2 tickets bought for Brisbane show! :)

Zinc Yeah dude, I used to have a problem with 'the munchies' but since I stopped drinking like a fish and smoking like a chimney I stopped stuufing my face :-) I think that there is a place for excess in everyone's life at sometime but unfortunately some people are predisposed to gaining weight. I did a heavy manual job for years so I got away with eating loads cos I was burning it off - then I became a desk jockey and the pounds piled on, now I'm Mr temperance and Moderation - lol.

Steven Wilde What bikes did you used to race bro' ?

Michelle It's a good job that you can't post the music that lyric or I'd be on a plane out there to slap ya' - lol. Mind you I'd be ready to run, I might be 6' 1" and 192 lbs but I still don't fancy my chances!

Delfino Don't worry about your Dad man, statistics aren't worth the paper they are written on and none of them apply to an individual. I'm sure I once read that people who eat a lot of cakes when they are younger can live up to 20 years longer than people who eat a lot of MacDonalds :-)

Edit - Whoa, nearly missed the fact that this is my 'Vai' post !

Delfino, you were probably meant to cook them then let them cool, to have them cold! Whoops! Seriously though mate, I'd go see the doctor.....you're better to be safe than sorry, right? Take it easy bud!

Suzie, no problemo :-)
LucySorets, I tend not to listen to preview clips when new albums come out.....I like to wait and have a nice surprise, and to hear an album all the way through so I can hear the new tracks in context. So in a shorter response, no, I've not heard "Glorius" yet! I can't wait though, this album is going to be awesome!

Also, I love your description of Searching, and thanks for the confirmation on the euro Vai tour, I knew it'd be after the summer!

OCPS470, I've not even seen a JSX yet.....there aren't any in the area of the UK that I live in. It's a kind of a trade off I think, cause most Ibanez stock gets sent to the south, so we've got plenty of that, but no JSX that I've seen. It's an ass cause I'd really like to give one a try, just out of idle curiosity really.

Re. the Legacy tones - yeah the lead channel is much like you described. It is very warm and smooth, and sustain and harmonic response are very good. This is all without bags of distortion....it just doesn't need it. It makes up for it with killer crunch. I seriously think you can get a fatter crunch tone out of a Legacy than with a Boogie Dual Rectifier, as long as you use your pickups right. The lead channel is really interesting cause you can do so much with it - I actually use the "Boost" setting on a Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal just to boost the signal going into the amp. It doesn't change the tone or add any drive or distortion, it's just like a few percent of pre-gain. If you combhine that with the lead channel's gain set to about '3', and use a neck-single coil with the tone wound right on you get a decent Clapton/Vaughan type dirty Strat sound. It's awesome. then switch straight to a bridge humbucker and it gets hotter and more sustainy without getting massively more gainy. It's cool....doing that makes it feel like you've increased the gain and volume to keep the note burning longer, but you haven't, it's just tonal response, and is very controllable.

The clean channel has a "presence" switch on it. The switch add's a little brightness and makes all the notes slightly tighter and more brittle, it puts a kind of snap to them, and I never use it. I find it a bit too harsh and unnatural, and I don't need it. Without it, the clean channel is actually very warm and has a wide, clear spread of tone and a lot of character, so I'd guess Vai is using the presence switch on his. Combine that with a split Evolution and you've got quite a thin sound. I shall have to record some clips some time.....I will get round to it, I'm not exactly sure whe, but it will be fairly soon! I'll let you know when I have!

TASTEY, sorry to hear about your guest pissing on everything! You could put a daiper on him! hehe, that would look so ridiculous!
Steven Wilde, it's interesting, the whole Frank sig thing reminds me a lot of the whole Jon Petrucci Ibanez/Music Man thing! hehe

happy 500 bro!

civgeek,

I didn't notice the lack of sofistication in Medford, OR, I was so take by the natural beauty...if you come to NYC during the summer let me know...we'll hook up!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

cheese101,

I would have stuck around the Pacific Northwest, but when the leader of the band quit & left for Las Vegas to join a show band, and left us all high & dry I said..."hhmmm work at MacDonalds to survive, or go back to NY & start over"? 25 years later, and several bands later...here I am. It's sooo pretty there... God's country!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

DelfinoPie...Diabetes, or No Diabetes....love the hell out of him while he's here....lost both of my folks! Peace! Hope he has a long wonderful life....

Ok Joe, it's like this..........March 16th....When there was only 7 people up for the aftershow pass givaways, I thought cool in with a chance......Now.... 76 people....Well let me tell you I'm not as confident as I once was....So this is how we'lll do it....Give the word and my right arm is in the mail for you...but then, you probably don't need an extra arm, right!.....So I'm prepared to get a note from my mother to say I must get one....But then again "why do you want to go and listen to all that racket" is all I'll get from her so that seems pointless........Things are getting desprate.....I'm left with three options now......Option 1.."Bribe the man"....yeah I know a man of your stature's probably not suseptable to bribes.....Option 2..Suck you as much as I can..That right I already am......So I think I'll go with Option 3 this leaves me with fate........So in the hand of god I leave it...Shit I'm not even religious so that don't give me much hope.....Oh well I'm sure to love the show anyway..... My wife and I are counting down the days.....All the best and hope to see the blue text soon....
