This was a question for you Joe. I used to play guitar awhile ago for a year and I practiced for 6 hours a day but I quit. This was 12 years ago. However, last year I started to play again on the 28th of Janruary and have been playing ever since. I have really started to fall in love with the guitar and begin to appreciate really great music too. Your latest CD, Is There Love In Outer Space? rocks hardcore. I now had some questions for you regarding guitar playing. 1. Is it really true that a normal everyday average joe provided they practice alot can become as great as a famous person on playing the guitar? 2. Do you have or did you have to practice alot to be as great as you are and how much did you practice? 3. If you don't have a smooth distortion sound it because of a failure to mute the strings properly or could it be because of the equipment you are using? 4. Do you really need to use a metronome to build up speed? 5. And finally, how do you practice muting the strings? Take your time to answer these questions and answer whenever you can. Thanks so much for your music and listening to me ramble.

Stevee T, ooh, yeah the 928 is a very nice car, but costly. You really should try a late 944 Turbo, or even a 944 S2, some time.....it's like the 928 but without the baggage of maintainence cost. rather than a grumbling great 5.4 V8 in the front, with a noisy prop running between driver and passenger, it's a little more civilised. They vary around 3 liters, with a turbo attached, and are comfotable cruising, picking up some stuff from the store, or being driven, balls to the wall, on an alpine hillclimb!
Stick with the S2000 for a good few years though, it's a cracking car!

I'm competing this year and I know Steve Vai was around for the finals last year, I'm just hoping I can just make it there. But I just wanted to know if I can expect to see you around at a competition. I'm competing in Sacramento, a few hours north of san fran. March 1. Hope to see you hanging around sometime!

Cant say much to that Michelle other than I'm sorry to hear that. Its never easy to see people get old and frail. I hope he gets better.
Its amazing how people can say something that gets others thinking. For me, I am a lawyer, but not rich, never sought riches or power. But the older I get, the more I think about the value of life and how we determine what success is. I have concluded that its not cars, houses, $$, or even expensive guitars that make us successful, its how we impacted on others, how they impacted on each of us and how our memories go on. Thats real success. To have shared and given and t have received something that will always stay close.
Sounds like you have 30 years of nice memories. I hope your step dad will be around for many more.
Just got me thinking. Thanks for sharing your feelings.
Ronnie

js22 - I know Duluth so well. Great place. Joe is playing a rescheduled gig in AZ tat day. I have never heard about Duluth! He does play the tabernacle frequently but no posts yet on that. BTW, Yngwie seems to be a frequent visitor to Masquerade on Ponce de Leon.

mikesb...actually the trunk will fit a Fender Princeton Amp (my Marshall stack...no way...) & my effects units & cables. The front seat fits my Les Paul & JS100 & my acoustic in a gig bag....all at the same time...and when you pull up to your destination...well the ego sadly swells...but it sure feels good lol

Hi everyone,
This is my first post, and I have to say that Joe has been a huge influence to me for a few years now. I recently aquired Is There Love In Space?, and I though it is very good, I was wondering if anyone else still has Strange Beautiful Music stuck in their CD players? I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that it may be the greatest instrumental album ever made.
I have all of the others, and this one rocked me the hardest.
Thank you Joe!
Come to Ottawa!

I'm curious to know how people chose their nicknames on T2J.
Slanshroom: Siempre Amor is one fuckin fantastic track. Do you play flamenco music at all? Living in Spain, I'm sure you get to see some pretty crazy flamenco guitarists.
Slanshroom for G3.
