IS THERE LOVE IN SPACE? ...................................................... As dump-sites go, there’s nothing quite like Earth orbit: Totally gone or near-dead spacecraft, spent motor casings and rocket stages, all the way down to pieces of solid propellant, insulation, and paint flakes. Toss in for good measure thousands of frozen bits of still-radioactive nuclear reactor coolant dribbling from a number of aged Russian radar satellites .................................................................................... Here’s the heavenly clutter count as of December 29, 2004.

There were 9,233 objects large enough to be tracked and catalogued by the USSTRATCOM Space Surveillance Network. Of this total there were 2,927 payloads, along with 6,306 object classed as rocket bodies and debris.

That’s the stats as listed in the January issue of The Orbital Debris Quarterly News, issued by the NASA Johnson Space Center Orbital Debris Program Office in Houston, Texas ........ ................................................................................................... So I ask you, could any of this be called LOVE?

Man, I had so much written to everyone this morning until the computer ate my post. 338 over the limit. I hit the back button and it was GONE! I was so pissed. I can't remember what I said, but the jist of it was...

S&TFS, Aretha & Janis, they just don't make 'em like that anymore. Red wine, big glasses, hell yeah! Drugs are bad, mmmmkay. Devil horns to a horse & buggy - lmao!!! Behind in email - apologies. Can't afford Cali. trip. New car congrats! Happy 1000! Happy birthday! Happy Groundhog Day! Happy 1400! Happy Newbie Day!

That's not even close to all of it, but I don't have time to do it all over again. Confounded machines!!

And now, I will start a new post to continue replying to the next 5 pages :)

VFR, I can relate to your story to Zen. I had a few wild years back in the 80's that were pretty bad, though I didn't realize how bad I was while I was doing it. It was fun at the time, but looking back, whoa! I had a problem. When it creeps into your work time - red alert! The day after I got married I promised myself that I had to get healthy. I wanted to start a family, and there is NO room for that crap when you have kids. I never looked back, never did it again, and never regretted that decision. I lost a few friends, but that's always the price you pay when you get straight. It's a happy ending like yours. I have 2 beautiful kids and a great husband. It's been 17+ years. Congrats to me :) This isn't a story I share lightly, but it just goes to show that anyone can walk on the other side. To quote Oprah Winfrey, "Once you know better, you do better."

bahduh, Mari, I'm behind in my emails. Holla if I take to long to reply.

Lucy, hello! Bill Murray is so funny! He's a great actor.

civgeek, ahhh, reminds me of the puddles of drool I would leave behind on my science table. lmao! Damn, if only I could do it all over again...what a waste I was. Man I hated school. Kudos to you for reaching for a higher education!

Damn, I forgot to mention in my last post about kilts and grabbing at the dangly bits! lmao!! I have to say, if you're wearing a skirt at a wedding, or anywhere else where drunken women can be found, you best expect to get a good "woohoo!"

What would Joe look like in a kilt?

bigbunny, I don't know if groundhogs are part of the rodent family, but around here, unfortunately they are a part of the roadkill family :( They're so friggin' cute! They stand by the side of the road and look at you when you drive by. I always yell at them in my cat voice and tell them to stay on the grass and stay safe. I think they're trying to commit suicide. lol! I would probably risk an accident if, God forbid, one of the little buggers would piddle out in front of me.

Suzie, I wanted to hurt the computer...BAD! lol! I'm still bitter. lol!

Jazzy, Sully still says FU! lol! Horns to the Amish. That's so funny. I can imagine their faces as you give them the "rock on dude" attitude. I usually just smile and nod, but now I'll probably crack up thinking of you throwin' the horns. lol!

scooba Steve, they should let you go in if you're with a parent...right? Call the venue.

Eric JOhnson's Signature Strat....woohoo

Finally Fender is releasing Eric Johnson's signature Strat sometime this year. It is going too be one expensive axe from what I have heard. It runs about 4500 Austrailian dollars some im guessing thats like 3000 american and 3800 canadian. It looks like a nice axe, almost a 57 strat with Custom shop pickups and Fender/Gotoh tuners that dont require bridge trees. Check it out people. http://www.fender.com/products/show.php?partno=0117702

Gotta love nasty letters about long forgotten bills. Ones that amount to working all the overtime you can for two weeks straight without a day off. So much for guitar lessons for the next couple of weeks. : (

Anyone else here interested in the Dual Disc format.....)CD on one side, DVD on the other)? I'd loooooooooove to see some more videos of Joe from the early days!

Hey, hey, hey...

I think I'm almost back to being here regularly, now. ;-) I'll try to catch up with everything this weekend...

I did a quick search for "Austin" and "Do The Stu", so here are a few things:

- I only just now realized that the word "exhausting" contains my name.
- Joe's SMF stands for "Sick Mother F-cker"...
- Someone (cheese101, I think) asked if I would be going to one of the rescheduled Satch shows. I don't have tickets now, but yeah, I see myself maybe going to either the Anaheim or Ventura show. Are you going to either of those? If so, let me know...I'll try to get tickets for your show. I also might go to the San Diego show with a friend...so if anyone down there wants to meet up, just let me know...
- The Steve Morse Band / Dixie Dregs show was awesome. The Eric Johnson show was also awesome. I'll try to post reviews (sorta) in the near future... I have about 20 photos from the SMB / DD show...I'll try to post them soon. In the meantime, this picture and this picture will have to do.
- marimariSRV, it was so cool to meet up with you a week or two ago. Let me know if you're ever out this way again...we have see a show together.

Well, I gotta go... I've been SO busy working for the newspaper this semester. We have a ton of new writers...most of them don't know how to meet deadlines, which means that I've had a ton of late nights over the past week and a half. Fun, fun, fun...

...Austin...

Almost Amater, Ibanes RG's have thin necks. Which can cause proboloms with the truss rod. It's probley better with a satriani neck. (even though the js100's only have Ibanez pickups. NOT DiMARZIO'S) But they still sound good.

Delfino, talk to DCK about it ;-) Oh, and March 28th, i think, is the submission deadline!

jazzzzzy, yeah asteroids are quite common, but you'd never know it, cause most people don't spend their nights outside staring at the sky! Sounds cool though, you don't normally get to see them burn that long!
OCPS470, I was going to go for a cruiser for the neck but they didn't have any, they called their supplier who also didn't have any, and probably would get any for 6-8 weeks. The Fast Track 1 has output of 191, so if I mount it low it should be ok, volume-wise. They didn't have any Air Zone's either......bastards had everything but what I wanted.......so I thought some natural drive from a Tone Zone wouldn't hurt too much - it's not like the amp is over-gainy like a Boogie. I'm sure they'll work out well together, but if they're too far from the tone I really want I can send them back or stick them in another guitar!

Thanks for your input on both that and the song-writing thing. I dunno....I just find it really hard to come up with anything that sound remotely interesting. I've had no tuition, no theory, so coming up with a comprehensive, but simple, chord/key progression is a real challenge for me. And I have a mental blank at the moment too. Yippee.

update: just read the TZ specs on the DiMarzio site.....they claim it's got pretty good dynamic response to pick attack, and it's output is 375 which is not so bad. Their "tone guide" rates it the same as the Air Zone, so it seems it's an Air Zone but 54 mV louder! I guess i'll find out in 7-10 days! haha

Master Yoda, funk/fusion/jazz.....what, you mean like Cool #9? hehe, I'm sure it'd be welcome on there!?!
Stevee T, thanks for your feedback....yeah, everything helps, cause everybody goes about it in a different way.
ibanezghsman, thanks for that. regards clean tone, that's cool cause I never use bridge pickups clean....they sound so damn twangy, it really gets on my tits!
civgeek, having yours in the neck position will account for why it sounds good clean. most pickups sound good in the neck position. What are it's harmonics like? Are they easy or hard, and what kind of sound does it naturally revert to if you let it feedback?
DCK, thanks bro, your kind words really help! I do have serious dry patch at the moment though, I'm finding it hard to come up with anything! maybe all my good ideas are spent?! haha! Nooooooo! Thanks, I'll have a think about artwork....I really need a JS to take some pictures of, wonder if I could borrow one from somewhere....hmmmmm

also, maybe you could re-post those details once a week or something, cause there's bound to be others who missed your first post?

meandmrvai, yeah and you know what really kills.....they're not offering the EJ Strat in Agave Blue - THE finest colour for any Strat. Dammit!
