Juju/Alexandre/Michelle/Cube and Tastey Thanks for the birthday wishes guys. I had a relaxed and enjoyable day, visited the various bits of the family and ate too much - lol. To top it all, I got a call from work to say that the contract that we have been waiting for came through - that's a biggie and it's been stressing me out for weeks, so today I'm truly chilled.

Jazzy 1400 posts and never a cross word - lmao. Congrats man.

Cube lmao man, .........talk to jeff - heh heh ;-)

Civgeek Dude sounds like you should be in consultancy for sure........................ start with the answer and work your way back - lol

Steven W yeah the VFR is a clue for sure - lol. I started posting as R6Rocker a few years back...................... altough between bikes I should have been Walk to live, Live to walk! heh heh.

Tastey Great joke- lol. I'm good thanks. Life is good and I'm not at work this week, so it's even better. This is set to be a cool year, I think. How are you ? How's the job ?

Fab lawyer Lmao man, I'd put nothing past either of those shady dudes ;-)

962 Writing - find a collection (random) of chords that you like, string them togther as best you can, maybe into two sets for 'verse' and 'chorus'. If you can't make them fit, find some others to link them togther. Now if you're thinking, 'but I was going for 'power' chords - bear with me. Once you've got your chords, figure out what choice of scales / modes that you've got open to you, the full chord voicings will give you more scope and you switch back to power chords later. Pick your melody out, either using a scale / mode per chord change or grouping your 'keys' together. Base idea established. Now go back to the begining. Figure out the tempo and rythym for the track. Programme drums, lay down bass line. (root notes/ riff style or pedal tone). Put chords/ riff over the top, lay down the melody. Make it more interesting by putting in a 'middle eight' section as a riff, and harmonising some of your melody. Of course all easier said than done - lol, hope this might be some help to you. It's a bit of a 'formula' approach, but if it's a different approach to the norm, perhaps it might spark sonmething off for you.

STRENGTH OF HEART Dave's doing okay, he's down in Atlanta GA, working on the odd job, getting himself sorted. I think he may have a guitar student or two lined up. I spoke to him about three weeks ago, he was happy enough, thought that he had made the right move and is thinking of training as an electrician. He can't get on line that often at the moment but his web page is now www.sharpiv.com, there's a contact mail there and he occasionally updates his news section with what he's doing.

Michelle Yeah, after I posted, I was left with a dark feeling inside of me for a while, not something that I posted lightly. A lesson in life, learnt and not forgotten - character building, as they say - lol ;-)

Zenfish We are lucky man, there are a lot of people who don't get off before the last stop.................. one in five ?

Zenfish,

Nice tune selection...what are your favorite Eddie tunes rated by solos, then rhythm? If that's too much work...you don't have to bother....Peace!

((((((((((())))))))))))(((((((((((((()))))))))))))(((((((((((()))))))))))

962, you're very welcome....my pleasure....next thing I would do is to play in a key that you don't normally practice in, change tonal settings, play another instrument if you have one, learn some new weirdo chords....you know mix it up...force yourself into a new place....

(((((((((((((()))))))))))))(((((((((((()))))))))))))((((((((((((()))))))))

Clarky....any chance of you offering a Shredz cut to T2J?

962 - lol... No, it's much more jazz than that!!! Some kind of crazy amalgamation of the Dave Weckl Band, Mike Stern, and John Scofield, with a little hint of Paul Gilbert in there for good measure... lol. Although the guitar playing won't be nearly as good as any of those guys, but that's the general vibe I'm going for!

Clarky - Yeah, I'll come to that DC rehearsal on the 13th. Same plan as before? I have my own car now, so I could either drive to Worthing myself and meet you there, or we could meet at my place in Guildford. Whatever you prefer. That said, I've never driven to Worthing before, and once I get there I'll have no idea of how to get to Mick's place! So in that case, looks like option B is best!!!! lol

A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier.

Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So, the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day.

The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, sent the email.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston, a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a minister who was called home to glory following a heart attack.

The widow decided to check her email expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife

Subject: I've Arrived

Date: October 16, 2004

I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and you are allowed to send emails to your loved ones. I've just arrived and have been checked in. I see that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then! Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.

P.S. Sure is freaking hot down here!

Almost Amateur - I have had my RG 560 for almost 20 years it's been all over the country and has been my main guitar since I got it. Other than new pick ups and some periodic saddle adjustment it has been a great guitar.

962 - The harmonics pop pretty easy for me. But I don't have trouble getting harmonics out of almost anything. I even used pick harmonics like Roy Buccanon (spelling) on acoustics where you finger a chord and then pick harmonic the chord shape with your right hand. It actually a cool effect and makes the chord chimey. As for feedback I have to look at my wiring cause I get a lot of feed back which is pissing me off but I figured it is my fault not the pickups.

Big Bunny - The Holy Grail is definately one of my all-time favs.

VFRocker - Great story. That is one of the stories that makes you sit back and be thankfull for all that you have. Plus it gives you an advantage over your kids. I tell my kids that if they can think of it I have already done it so don't even try to get over. And I work for a consultant.LOL

Austin, *waves*

bigbunny, ha! Nooo, I don't berate them or say abusive things - I love dem lil' critters! lol! It's more like a motherly scolding not to go out onto the road.

VFR, congrats on the work contract! As for the other post, I almost deleted it before I posted it. It still amazes me how blind we get when we're in the mix. So much wasted time. Ahh, great song by Skid Row ~ here's a bit of it. Rips your heart out too.

Is it all just wasted time, Can you live with yourself When you think of what You left behind

Paranoid delusions they haunt you, Where's my friend I used to know, He's all alone, He's buried deep within a carcass Searching for a soul

Can you feel me inside your heart As it's bleeding, Why can't you belive you can be loved

I hear you scream in agony, And the horse stampedes and rages In the name of desperation

Is it all just wasted time, Can you look at yourself When you think of what You left behind

Agh well, enough of that. I'm going back to Partridge Family lyrics - C'mon get happy! lol!
