Hello to everyone! I hope all's well with everyone.... I've done a little skimming but usually get side tracked somehow. Just talked to a few friends in Cali and cleaned the shower....Now I'm going to finish my NAMM Story, damn it! hehe! NAMM Part 2: The Rest Of The Story....The convention center is HUGE! I came in on the lower level and knew that all the main vendors would be upstairs. Good thing I looked a a little cause I came across this amazing Rock And Roll Art and Aluminum Guitars / Custom Anodized Designs Booth. Hanging up was several amazing pieces.....Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and an incredible SRV!! OMG! I have to have it!! So I ask how much? $375..."too much for me....I really like it! Can you do better on the price?" $300...."hmmmm I REALLY like it!! I'll be back later, put my name on it." So off I went to find Joe and Steve and whom ever else was here.....Don't have 300 to spend on that SRV but I'll think of something. This place is enormous and I didn't have one of the maps that tells you where each specific vendor is located. Next year I will grab one of the books for sure!! First thing I see is Yngwie walking in a hurry with his wife a few steps behind...I started to follow him but decided I need to find Joe and Steve...Peavy and Ibanez since I only had 2 and half hours left I had my work cut out for me (esp with no map) So I'm wandering around...checking everything out. I saw Rick Wakeman from YES. There was a really cool display / tribute to Dimebag Darrell, shoul'dve snapped a few of that. I saw Michael Schenker was doing a signing. As was John 5 (weird guy) M Manson Band and Mr Marshall (Marshall Amps) Hey NUNO BETTENCOURT! I'd love to talk to him but I'm on a mission.....Got to find Peavy and Ibanez.....I find them! Damn JS was there from 2-3pm I just missed him! He did that Peavy Amp talk and a signing. The JS and VAi guitar displays are just beautiful!! Amazing! As I'm looking at Joe's guitars I see Mick, Joe's manager! he's talking to a Japanese couple..I didn't want to interrupt just to say hello. He looked at me as they were walking and talking.....I knew Joe was around if Mick was there!! I turned the corner and I see Steve VAi!! holy shit!

Steve's signing autographs! Cool! I had my portfolio and I wanted to show him a few of my photos. As I'm walking up I see JOe's Hat!! Alright! now we're talking! So I get in line there's aboout 25 people in front of me. A girl gets behind me and I see she has autographed photos..hmmm? She said she had them sign it but she wanted to have them personalize it for her. They were giving the photos out. Promos. I'm not in line 3 minutes and Js & SV leave!! Sucks! Twisted Sister was sitting next to our line...didn't think they were still around As I'm looking at the displays and the schedules of people that were there...Rudy Sarzo, George Lynch..etc...I missed it all! I kept going in circles I think trying to find my way around. I stumbled upon the Di Marzio Booth and the's Yngwie doing a signing....I had seen him earlier doing a signing at a guitar booth. The line wasn't long so I jumped in...no hurry now since I missed Joe. YJM now has Elvis side burns to go with his Elvis sunglasses and all of his Bling. He reminds me of Elvis with long hair...def what Elvis would look like if he were a shredder. He lost weight and looks better. I had left my papre at the hotel with Stevee T's and VF Rocker's Friends info on it and couldn't remember...I was just a little stessed. Damn if I wasn't at the booth Stevee T wanted to to stop by! I know it for next year! lol! I had back down since it was almost closing time. I had 260 and a bottle of MUMM that I had brought out as a thank you for Joe. I couldn't afford 300 so I offered what i had and he called the artist...DEAL! SRV is mine!! I mention I'm a photographer and give him my 8x10 card. It looks an ad you would see in GW mag. It'a wicked shot of Steven Tyler with my info on it. I also pull out my portfolio...

sorry don't want to lose this post or you'll never get to read it!

People stopped to look....pretty cool! I got some really positve responses! One guy says "we have to talk! i'm with Social Disorder" he's got a tech business and would like to talk to me about shooting the band. Cool! The rep for Peter Kellett Art is interested in using some of my photos for future Art Pieces! I was just speaking with him today when he got another call...Eric Johnson! "Oh, tell Eric I said Hello!" YOu know Eric? Yes, tell him it's MAri from PA, he won't remember my last nam. I'm friends with his tour manager and saw EJ play at the Grove in Anaheim when I was out there for NAMM". As I was walking out side I run into Thomas Nordegg (Steve Vai's guitar Tech) Said hello and that we met in Sweden. Partied on the tour bus after the show (Eva & I) in Stockholm. I told him my story and said I had brought my photos to show JS and SV but missed them. He had afew minutes so I showed him my portfolio. Again people walking by stopped to look. Wow! This is great! Thomas loved my photos!! I told him i'll be at the NYC, NJ and Philadelphia shows in MArch. I was hoping to be able to photgraph them and I'll bring my photos so Steve can see them. Maybe he'll mention to Steve that he saw me and my photos...hopefully! NAMM was over for me. I had to fly home the next day. At least I got in and made a few contacts! Got to see Jeff and EJ too! I met a real nice guy from GHS Strings. I'll be back next year, I'll make sure I have one of my contacts get me in! This way I won't miss everything..... I arrive home to a blizzard! Luckily Phila was the only airport open! NJ, NY and Boston were closed. I had to work the next day and I had a sore throat...uh oh. yes, I got sick Sinus Infection but I'm all better now. Finally, it's been a rough 2 weeks. I've got quite a few posts to do later. I'm off to a Super Bowl party or 2. Have a good one!! Laterz

Almost forgot....GO EAGLES!!!!! WOOOHOOOO!

Does anyone know if the Seattle, Spokane, and Portland shows are 21+? I live in Vancouver but the show here is at a club. I REALLY want to see a Joe show. I mean Really. If any of these shows are open to minors I will do anything to get there. I'll sell all my earthly possesions if necessary. I'm in the same boat with the Steve Vai shows coming up. It really sucks! If anyone else is in the same situation, we should form some kind of support group. Minors Getting Screwed Out of Seeing Great Shows Annonymous MGSOSGSA who's with me?

Zen, VFRocker and Stevee T: Re Rick Renstrom. I think I mentioned that his "Until the Bitter End" CD has two live videos of Rick playing.. You know that sometimes there is a tendency to "overcompensate" with praise when someone with a handicap achieves something that to us " normal " mortals seems miraculous for them to have done, it is like a pity vote of sorts. Rick certainly does not need that, his talent and music stand on their own thank you very much. Not ONCE on his website (other than reviews by magazines etc) is there any mention of his handicap. He obviously has not spent too much time feeling sorry for himself, he has been too busy honing his craft . Well done Rick......

MariSRv: Thats one hell of a story. Even if you didnt see Joe and Steve, you got to see John 5! I think John 5's an amazing guitarist and he's a very very cool person. I met him in minneapolis sometime in 2003. He's a badass.

slanshroom: anytime dude. You deserve all the respect. So whats the story behind Siempre Amor and Widowmakers highway? I gave the link to several friends and they were all dazzled by the tunes. Did you use a 12 string for the intro of WH? I'm really enjoying the eclectic mix in pretty much all your stuff and think the tone is awesome. Waiting for your album's release!

Mahavishnu: cool dude. Thats a pretty sweet JS keychain. I havent seen anything like that regarding Joe before. Does Joe even know these things exist? You should totally take pictures of them and post it here. Thats some cool memorabilia. And yes, Steve Vai will be a lot of fun to watch. I hope he plays "in my dreams with you."

BTW, I know someone who managed to download Real Illusions. Hopefully I can snag it from him and brag about it to all you guys. haha!

Jazzzy:Thanks bud,the more ears that hear the better. This,ll take a bit of explaining so bear with me..I always had the idea in my head since i was young of taking the listener on a journey.I felt a lot of artists tended t stick to one particular style/way of playing on an album & i wanted t break out that mould/Rule best i could, that meant learning a whole bunch of styles & techniques so i could pull more out the bag if y will.I had t live those styles in order t really feel, more than often embarrassing myself & swallowing my pride while playing, after,y go back & vow those errors y made will never happen again, practice hard & y move on,i also knew if i didnt get out there & make mistakes i couldnt grow or find my own voice.

The backing for Siempre Amor was originally called Daves song which was written by Invisible Boss another collabouration i worked with.I had no access to a decent workstation & this backing just seemed t work like magic with a tune i wrote years ago which was originaly called papyrus of ani, so the guys kindly let me have it for the album.I had previously programmed a completely different version & had it stored away in DAT somewhere, but i was goin through a devorce at the time so everything but my guitars & amp left the building so t speak, lol

Widowmakers Highway has a very intense story to it,a little about that in a min.It was played on a 6 string semi-acoustic small/thin body yamaha fitted with a fishman humbucker & sperzels, light gauge10,martin acoustic strings seems t suit it best & the entire track is played in DADGAD tuning with a combination of pick or fingers depending on the sections. The album will be called W. Highway as well because i feel very strongly about people dieing at work so secret black ops can run amok.An interview with a lady called Helen Frost caught my attention years ago.She lost her husband through the materials they were working with out in Area 51,& the road that used t take the workers there has been dubbed by these women Widowmakers Highway.

I think that just about answers yer questions bro, anything else y want t know feel free t shoot
