But Brian Wilson wins?

Bahduh- maybe Brian Wilson shouldn't have won that (I haven't heard anything about the awards until I read the posts on here, so...) but he is still a genius of harmonies- haven't you ever listened to Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys? It's WAY cool, I think it's an album that many many people will always love. But I suppose it is each to their own! :-)

Steven- Hi, thanks for the mail, Matt has sent you one back, hope your day is going good! :-)

Jazzzzzzzy- aaaawwwwwww sounds like love is in the air..... or at least lust LOL! Good luck with the new girl!

suzie2000....harmonic genius or no harmonic genius...beach boys or no beach boys......this is a modern world...i know yu might be offended by my comments but please......no one but satch can play like vai....vai deserved it....btw,,,i am not a beach boys fan......period and so his winning is of no significance to me.....i guess there is no place for performers like vai,,satch etc in grammies... i know this may sound absurd but i guess if satch and vai plays music which sounds like the guitarist of britney spears,,,westlife,,usher..etc,,,then surely their name would be on the grammy winners........this fucking world is so dominated by commercial music.....i hate commercial music...it is killing music..lets face it...the more yu sell the more popular yu become...but hey, that is not real music....westlife,,usher,,etc..they can never be considered as musicians.....at least there is one bright side to this years grammy.......... norah jones a real gem of an artist has been recognised again.........peace and .. fuck commercial music.

joe rulez and so does vai.... WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT THE GRAMMYS....WE STILL LOVE AND LIKE YUR MUSIC..STEVE VAI.

i hate bitches who cannot sing but only expose their tits and so also guys who highlight their songs only with bitches with huge...i mean huge tits.....fuck...how do they dare call themselves as MUSICIANS?

Slanshroom:

On first peruse I feel this T.E. Bearden is very good at placing terms together to make them appear real or qualified. I do not have proof of this to give you as I just read it quickly. I did see a couple or terms that normally would not appear together as a relation one to the other. For instance, Coulombs and Potential, I don' t recall these being directly related. I don't know what a tranverse gauge is but he makes it sound like the same as Coulomb. ????? HMMM....

I wont pass a judgement on the guy without looking into it further. Until then I would try to find more information on his background. Not just his degree but where he got it. I would then check his name with some forums on Mathematics and Physics in the area of Electromagnetic Fields and Waves. Perhaps there is some new technical information if this is a new area of research. How many others are working on this?

General rule of thumb, you usually have to be published to be considered legit. Why? In science your publisher is also responsible for having information checked. And, in most cases that means a background check with your sponsoring Professor of the research facility where the research or data is generated.

I am not saying this is a case of spinning closely related subjects into what appears to be true and rings true etc. There have been several cases of just that kind of thing recently and the Science community in general is having discussions about strrict guidelines for published material.

If I was a legitimate Phd in Astrophysics and some prick somehow got idiotic information published in a science journal, I would be very upset. Especially if the guy turned out to be a nobody without a degree. That would make me look bad in that scenario, placing mud on my science, making it that much more difficult for me and other legit researchers to gain funding, etc. That sort of thing has a huge potential to snowball into an avalanche.

Take a look at the argument Cuth and Zen are having for instance. Which one is right? At the crux of thier argument - Is Science to be Believed?

jazzzzy, thanks for checkin out the music bro! I don't know why it's slow.....maybe cause it's sunday? I have a slow connection anyway, but I always find it criminally slow on a sunday....the rest of the world has f*ck-all-else to do! hehe. Cool, thanks for your kind remarks, I'm glad you're diggin Shining Light! I reeeaaalllly need to get my new system built so I get on with recording stuff again.

I forgot to tell you, I checked out the rest of your soundclick tunes. Very good covers amigo, I don't know all of them but the ones I do know sounded spot-on. Your technique sounds very clean, it's enviable.....you should try recording some Paul Gilbert samples!

civgeek, aww that's so cool man, your wife rocks! what a great thing to do!
haha, that grammys story is kind of amusing. I supose it kind of sucks, but I bet Vai had something really funny to say about it, like "I set aside my entire evening for this? Get me the manager"

Master Yoda:

Welcome to the music business.

Sorry to be so sarcastic but, every battle of the bands type production is generally the same. I have been to and performed in many.

Let me ask you, was the band that ultimately won, on stage first or last?

The person from the radio station you mentioned. Was this the same radio station that perhaps sponsored the event?

The bigger picture:

Everytime a battle of the bands happens there is several bands that don't get paid. Yet the venue just made a killing in drink sales, alot of people showed up. As you know well by now, every band wants to be heard. Most of us want to get a contract with a publishing/recording company.

You need real management by a real managing company. For starters you need to know somebody. It is not about who you are or how good you are when it comes to getting the band known and selling CDs etc. Who do you know and what can they do for you?

Ask Joe, would he be where he is now without Vai getting teamed with Diamond Dave? I am speculating that Surfing with the Alien came out well after Steve Vai's stint with Dave?

What Joe has set up here is totally awesome for you and me! Think of the potential T2J has in this forum, there has already been the T2J CD project. Whjy stop there, I keep saying. What about information resources. Who do we know here on this site. What is the background of some of these people that post here. It is exactly as it is stated a "mesh of streaming conciousness" I say your biggest asset is this site,..and quit playing around lets develop some shit.

The combined experiences of these people here far exceeds many of the supposed greatest think tanks that have ever existed. We create!! Lets begin creating by committee. Lets survey ourselves for ideas. Using this place as a starting point the follow through and the finish. How many hours do you spend here? Why? What is it you hope to accomplish?

For sake of creative royalties we consult some publishing lawyers and set out designing an agreement we all sign for both legal solidarity and comfort. We begin a brainstorming session create a few guidelines to follow. Determine our strengths and weaknesses, set some goals, begin planning an attack of operations, set the plan to schedule of operations, evaluating the plan on scheduled intervals for progress reports we begin to implement the plan.

Takers?

Chime in please! Who are we, who do we know, what can they do for you / us? This does not mean that have to know someone to be relevant, you could be a person with proper resources, or just want to be involved and help get the stated goals accomplished.

X->out

Suzie - It is in fact in the same building as 'Spoons. Which is nice... lol. By the way, the smart money's on either Ireland or Wales to take home the Six Nations win this year, I reckon. Which is fine by me, being Irish!!!! My dad's got tickets to see Ireland v Wales at the Millenium Stadium. I'm so jealous...

XtrChessReal - I'm sure you didn't mean to patronise me, but I know all of that. Talent is just the tip of the iceberg, and many artists don't even possess that. Regarding the event; no bands got paid, it wasn't sponsored, and the winning band played somewhere towards the middle. It was an amateur event staged and organised (albeit badly) by a bunch of students at a local college. Whether or not this stuff happens all the time is irrelevant; whenever it does happen people just shrug you off in a patronising manner saying "welcome to the industry, buddy." They can fuck off as far as I'm concerned. I'm not just gonna sit back and take it because it's "the industry". No fucking way.

Master Yoda- That's very convenient for a quick beer then! When we last went there, I thought there were rather a lot of young guys with guitars dotted about- didn't realise it was actually in the same building though! About the rugby, it's just not England's year this year, that's for sure. Both games against Wales and France sucked (for different reasons- we were crap in the Welsh game and unlucky in the French one I suppose...) Still that's the way it goes. I've got over it now, as Silent Shady reminded me, it's only a game (hmm...........) Have a good day in sunny Guildford- I like that place!

Bahduh- fair enough, although I still wouldn't put Brian Wilson's songwriting talents anywhere near the likes of Britney Spears (or her songwriters?) They are both commercial, but there is a difference. You are right though, Steve Vai deserved it, almost as much as Joe!!!

Bahduh- I tried to edit my last message but it still didn't really come out with what I was trying to say... in my opinion Brian Wilson has a talent, and is far more original in thought or in any other way than the mass produced commercial artists e.g. Britney Spears. I would never watch things like the Grammy awards as I don't see the point of them. They're not worth getting upset over, as everyone knows that commercial acts will pretty much always win. What do the awards actually mean? I doubt Steve Vai cares at all. And why should he, when he is so talented? I mean Britney has the "talent" of singing with a voice that sounds like she has a peg on her nose, but can she rock out on the guitar? I doubt it... Have a good day anyway :-)

I said : Oi Joe, you're one of my favourite musicians. I was bloody excited when I found out you were going to play here (Melbourne, Australia) and then I find out its Over 18s Only. Ach, you have a severely disappointed 16 year old fan, can you tell me if you'll ever tour Australia again?
