I wonder if any one here was as neurotic as I when I first began guitar?

Please be honest when answering the following question:

In my first three months of guitar learning and on occasion afterward I would intentionally burn my finger tips by way of a candle flame. It may sound gruesome in text but I never allowed my skin to actually burn I would simply test my level of pain until I could not accept it any longer. The idea was to tuff-up the tips quicker and would allow me to practice longer on the next attempt at playing. In most cases it was directly after several hours of practice when the tips were already inflamed.

I do not condone this practice and only offer it in question not as a suggested routine. If you should partake however, please be extremely careful. A mistake could cause a temporary loss of ablilty to play until you heal. I have never asked a doctor who may actually know whether the practice actually did the function I was thinking it did. Regardless of any danger this may have placed me in, I did feel as though it did help me gain callouses that were tuffer and less prone to pain while practicing harder and longer.

JS1200 is a fixed bridge if memory serves. JS 1000 has a whammy. Is there a JS2000 still being offered I believe it has a whammy. Stay away from the JS100.

Jazzy, I'm wore out, but I know my parents appreciate everything I do, and they don't take advantage of my kindness. They are usually very self sufficient people, so this is odd for both of them. I know my pop would do it for me or a member of my family in a heartbeat. He'll be back to driving as soon as he feels he can, but he promised us he wouldn't do it before he's physically ready, which will be at least a few days yet. It's all good. They take care of me, I take care of them. He was almost brought to tears a few time while he was thanking me for my help. As for Reinventing the Steel, I don't have that one yet. I was driving home from my mom's yesterday and I couldn't find anything on the radio. I switched to the cd player. Korn was on. Nah, no good. Next cd in the player was Godsmack. Still not doing it for me. Next cd - Pantera - The Best of Pantera - Far Beyind The Great Southern Cowboy's Vulgar Hits! Shit man yeah, that was just what I needed! It's so refreshing every time I play that disc. It energizes me like nothing else - err, well maybe Joe's music, but Pantera does it in a different way. It's much more aggressive. I think Joe's music takes care of the inside. Pantera takes care of the outside. Knowhatimean?

njbeast- sorry to hear about your gran, i lost mine a year ago, and my grandad in sept (day after i got married). It's hard but at least you know your gran is not in pain and is at peace.

Mötley Crüe ready for tour to start

After weeks of rehearsal, Mötley Crüe kicks off its Red, White & Crüe tour tonight in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The tour - which reunites the group's original lineup for the first time since 1997 - has been one of the year's hottest sellers so far, which frontman Vince Neil said has been a surprise to the band: "When the tickets went on sale and we sold out so fast, we were all shocked. You know, we couldn't believe it that fans in other cities were petitioning to get us to go to their cities, and we had to add, like, another 40 shows. So it's very amazing."

Neil promised that the Crue's new stageshow would be a "circus," and Tommy Lee said the traditional drum kit stunt during his solo spot would be fittingly outrageous: "I guess I can honestly say this is hands down one of the most dangerous ones. I was telling somebody about it the other night, and they're like, 'Dude, are you out of your mind? You could die!' And I was like, well, yeah, that's kind of the whole, you know, that's what makes it exciting."

The Crüe plays its first mainland U.S. date on Thursday in Sunrise, Florida. Dates are booked into May, and the group expects to be on the road well into 2006.
