Slansh, pretty impressive list of idols.... Mine is much like yours except that in the past decade or so Brett Garsed replaced Holdsworth on my list (man that Centrifugal Funk CD with Garsed/Gambale/Lane just killed me!!!) And my list includes Gary Moore coz he is so damned diverse, stylistically and plays with heart, and Andy Timmons, and Paul Gilbert, his Hendrix tribute thing, live from Germany and totally impromptu coz of festival cancellations slayed me as well...

There are too many others to mention, BUT I have to mention one Greg Howe, awesome large spidery hands.(ie seems like he has eight extra long fingers on each hand) lol...

Cheers man, hope you were able to watch the Lane video...

slansh - lol... I see what they mean when they say to look after your hands.... lol.. being a builder is obviously a risk...
but then... more than once have I smashed fingers doing stuff to the house.. and then played a gig on neurofen...
take it easy bro..

another nice Bach piece you may find a nice challenge is the prelude to Lute Suite #4 in E.. if you alternate pick it all the way it's a real tough 'un..

I once learned the Paganini Caprice #5 in Am... again that's really hard... but it's a real gem too....

shit I need to dig some of that stuff up some time...

vfr - have you ever tried playing any of the Bach stuff???
XtrChess - wow... that's an interesting story... me... I'm a born and bred TDM voice guy.. DMS, ISUP, Q.931 and all that sort of stuff...
I've been exploring VoIP in various forms for some years now...
I work for MCI - I'm from the old WorldCom Europe side of things..

Nortel have a great VoIP solution as to CISCO.. I know the Nortel stuff pretty well... the CISCO stuff I'm learning...

we have both solutions... carrying live traffic..

Suzie - me too... I'm a huge Bach fan....
if you like Bach.. then you may enjoy two tracks on my album.... Requiem and Virtus, these are both very Baroque..
StevenWilde - me a genius??... lol... I wish... lmao...

He estado fuera andar por horas. He obtenido algo en mi mente.

CHOR

Ich glaube, dass Wir irgendetwas ändern können. Ich glaube an meinen Traum.

Wow propicious indeed that I mentioned the Beatallica site again today!!!

They have been served this very day with a "cease and desist" order from Sony music!!! The cheeky buggars have the audacity to post the lawyers fax up on their site!!! These guys slay me!!!

If I was someone in any way interested in the freebie MP3's they offer up I think I would get em NOW!!!

Clarky --- The first great thing I learned on electric that I'm still proud of and still playin' is Paganini's 5th caprice. (If Machio could do it so can I hahahaha). So I know what you mean.

The modified one. didn't find the original one as exiting. infact I learned the entire headcuttin duel.

not the first thing, the first GRAT thing that I was really proud of. I could play metallica, sabbath, ac/dc... way before that. Caprice changed my life. hahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Been way more into classical since then

Silent - I think that version of the caprice is known as:
Eugine's Trickbag

I can play both... or more like, "I could play them at the time" way back when I was studying them...

IMHO, the real Paganini one is much much more fun to play... and it's much more difficult too....

way back when you were studyin' them??? what the hell are you studyin' now?? the Firestring concert Vai did with the orchestra or what?

Yeah you're probably right about the real Paganini. too much for me at the time.
