I just witnessed him in Nashville. He played an encore of "My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Momma" with Eric Sardinas and Johnny Hiland. Best show I've ever seen!

metallica.com have some problems too. The official message board was hacked a few days ago and I guess the webmaster over there got a shock when he found his forum down.
"Fuck you all - Fuck Metallica" was the message from "the white fox" stated on the hacked forum up at metallica.com. "There is no way of stopping me, you will never stop me. I could take this site down 10 times a day if I wished.... You will never stop piracy, you are wasting your time and money trying"
what an ass hole..

962- You gotta love Nuno!----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------estrela- My cds are on the way. I hope you like my music!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Silent_Shady- I saw a post where you said "What would Metallica sound like if Cliff was still here?" I think they would sound the same as they do now. When Metallica did S&M there was alot of negative feedback. Some people said"Cliff is spinning in his grave." When I met Cliff we talked a little bit about music and different genres of music. I think he was a very opened minded person when it came to music. He would be proud of Metallica. Did you know about a year before S&M ,Lars was trying to get in contact with Dr. Dre?! He wanted Dr. Dre to use some Metallica tunes as samples. That did not pan out so they did S&M!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Jazzzzzzzy- How's it going my friend? So you were out impressing the hotties?! lol. Thats what so cool about being talented. Thats the way it is when I go to a music store. I always grab a guitar and plug in. When I am done I look up and people are watching and the women are smiling, then I get that smack in the back of the melon from my wife!! LOL
My only comeback is "WHAT YA DO THAT FOR?!!"-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Civgeek- Y&T... I was into that band bigtime!!! I made a huge banner for a show in Milwaukee. I believe it was MaMa's Boys, Lita Ford and Y&T. I was in the front the whole time! I have a shit load of pictures from that show! I tossed the banner on stage. About 5 minutes later Dave and Phil held up the banner. Dave grabbed his mic and said" This next song goes out to the person who made this banner!" They played "Rock N Rolls going to save the world." It brought tears to my eyes!!!--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------aussieRGman- I hope you feel better. I suffer from migranes myself so I know what you are going through. I have been going to my family doc. for about 10 years! Trying different meds. If I come across anything that helps I will let you know.

muzic4me5150: Thanks for all that info, but I'd feel a lot better if I could still wonder about it. I'm not happy with what metallica are doing. or what they did a few years back. but hey as long as they're happy and still play their old songs live I'll be happy. I'd be happier if I could see Joe though hehe.

VFRrocker - LOL...you're welcome. ;-)
Flashlight - Well, would you give me your CD?
Hmmm...? Are you confusing me with someone else here, maybe...?
aussieRGman / Flashlight - Yes, Joe makes those sounds with a DigiTech Whammy pedal. It's not a custom pedal, but it is the original WH-1 that is no longer being produced.
civgeek - I'll be staying down in the LA area this summer though...so the drive will take 17 hours. ;-)
I'd still love to do it though...it could be a lot of fun. Keep me in the loop...
BigBunny - "someone told me Metro City lost their liquor licence"
Ah...that's probably why the venue was changed. The promoter probably either gets a percentage of the alcohol sales, or thinks people won't come to the show if they can't drink.
js22 - I didn't notice that you lived in Duluth... I heard about that shooting yesterday morning. Some people are just absolutely stupid...ugh. It's good to know that they've caught the guy.
Guitarmiester - There are some reviews (and setlists) posted over at Vai's forum. He's jamming with Eric Sardinas during the encore, and he sometimes brings out other guests. I know Eric Johnson jammed at the Austin show.
...Austin...

Jazzzzzzy- I just checked out your questions for Joe! LMAO!!!
I like the nickname for Yngwie! I have an Yngwie joke. It was from a guitar mag. back in 92. Remember its ONLY a joke. (for Yngwie fans) A kid dies and goes to Heaven. He is standing by the Gates and St. Peter greets him. "Welcome my child. You are in Heaven. I see you wanted to play the guitar on Earth. Well, in Heaven you can do anything without effort that you wanted to do on Earth." The kid said" I want to play the guitar like my fav. guitar player, Yngwie." So St. Peter told the kid to go into room # 32. When the kid opened the door, the room was filled with guitars and amps. From the other side of the wall he could hear someone playing Yngwie songs. His heart skipped a beat and now was saddened to realize Yngwie had died the same day as he did. So he went to St. Peter with tears in his eyes. St.Peter said "What is wrong my child, are you not happy with Heaven?" The kid said "I am saddened to see that Yngwie died on the same day as I. Now people on Earth are not going to be able to hear new music from him. St. Peter smiled and whispered in the kids ear "Dry your eyes, thats God, he thinks he is Yngwie!!"
In an interview with Yngwie he stated he was God! And that is where that joke came from.

mjs99 ... and every other Aussie around: I'm enjoying a glass of Rosemount at the moment (good redwine, my first ever purchase of an Ausralian wine). I raise my glass for you guys (and galls)... and Joe ... have a great time!!!
The real winter came a bit late here in Finland this year. Temperature has been around -20 Celsius (-4 Fahrenheits) at nights for the past weeks (-30 C = -22 F at worst). The sun is warming already at day time, so the kids have saved from frostbites.
I bought new loudspeakers for my PC today. It was a good bargain (thinks me): 50 euros (= 67 USD = 85 AUD = 35 GBP) for "Logitech X-230" (two satellite-speakers, each 6 watts RMS + a 20 watts RMS subwoofer, total peak power 64 watts). Listened to Joe's "Engines of Creations" and concidering the room my PC is located, they speak enough for that price.
Feels so f***ing great to listen to some good music after another exhausting week at work...
...Been wondering my life lately; no time for physical exercise... increased smoking...and drinking. What the hell am I doing? ++++ Oh, well...I'm still smiling...and have still had time for some good music... live, too; Judas Priest was good ... still so tight!!!
Right now I'm listening to Black Label Society's new album "Mafia" (like I told before, I'm going to see Zakk and his band live in June).
SOTD: BLS: "You Must Be Blind"
Everybody, have an excellent weekend!

Someone asked (mjs99) how the Auckland show went. Was there last night and it rocked. Huge set - about 3 hours! - and lots of classic stuff from surfin', Flyin' and Crystal Planet and “Hordes of Locusts”. The start of the second set was strange with a mix of Strange Beautiful Music songs with Matt on a stand up electric bass before launching back into some more classics like Flying in a Blue Dream etc.
The crowd went totally off the whole night and Satch and Co came back for an unbelievably encore rendition of Surfin' With The Alien. The only let downs for me - and this is minor nit picking - was no Rubina as a show closer which I absolutely love and the sound balance wasn't quite right. The latter problem may be due to being seated up stairs as we were getting bombarded by Bass making it hard to hear the melody and some of the more intricate stuff.
However you can't take anything away from the man. The night was amazing. An awesome mix of nostalgia and new stuff finished with a huge chunk of genius. Satch was full of energy throughout the whole set and just seemed to be feeling every note along the way.
Joe, lets not leave it nine years till the next time you wow us.

Wow, it's been a while since I posted last! I've been crazy busy at work. Anyway, the interview contest caught my attention. Now all I can think of is what questions I'd get to ask Joe if I won.
I also remembered that back in my college days I interviewed Ron Thal for my instrumental guitar radio show, but never got to air the recording, 'cause I got slammed with my senior class project. A few days ago I found the tape, and transcribed the whole thing, and put it on my Web site:
My Ron Thal interview
The interview is from 1997, before Thal got into the really funky fretless guitar work, so there's no questions about that. And now, listening to the interview again, I can think of tons more questions to ask him.
I remember doing this interview well - Thal seems like a very cool guy, and I remember feeling like would probably let me ask questions all day, even though he's obviously an extremely busy person.
Anyway, there's definitely a few nuggets of information I haven't read anywhere else (though I haven't looked in a while). I'd love to hear what you think.
Lots of familiar faces, uh, nick names, still around. I'll have to do some catching up...
