Holy geez man, we're getting some storms today!!! Thunder, lightning, hail, heavy rain - not much wind...yet, but there's a tornado warning not to far from here in the next county.

We've been getting hammered for about 3 hours, and there's still a line of storms coming at us.
You guys would have laughed like hell at me earlier. It was raining so hard that the water was puddling up and getting deep in the garden in front of the house. Water was already coming in the front of the basement through the wooden porch (it has to rain very, VERY hard for that to happen), and I didn't want it to come through the foundation. I got on my husbands big snow boots and his big bird yellow rain jacket (it's just yellow, but he looks like b. bird when he wears it), and grabbed the only thing I could find to dig a trench...a plastic dust pan :) All the tools are in the shed or garage, so I had to be resourceful. lmao! Off I go into the pouring rain with my big boots & yellow raincoat, dust pan in hand, into the garden to dig a trench so the water would run away from the house. To my surprise, I did a bang up job and got two trenches dug within a few minutes. The water drained away from the house and into the grass farther away. I clogged around into the yard and got a 5 gallon bucket (which doubles nicely as a bat catcher :), and put that at the side of the house where the ground was being washed away from the rain spout overflow. I was running around here like the National Guard or something. lmao! I had everything under control (well, almost) by the time my husband came home from work, but with each new storm brings more water. We might have maybe 5" of rain till this runs through.
I wonder if any of the neighbors took any pictures. lmao! I was even laughing because I looked so silly. I was on it though, and I got the job done. The house is saved, and we won't have to move into the garage :) *round of applause*
Anybody need a moat dug? I have a wicket dust pan and and digging outfit to die for! LOL!
I love my house, but I really wish it would be waterproof! lol!
And on that note...here comes more thunder.
