more on the subject of the les paul 90th birthday party.... from an email to lukather -

Not filmed, they were audio recorded. The German radiostation WDR2 will air one hour of the concert within about 2-3 weeks. Later on there will be a cd release in Germany and Austria. We'll keep ya informed via the website.

so apparently it WAS recorded, no video though.... hopefully joe will make it to the CD so we can hear satch boogie on a les paul haha...

STEVEE T wasn't surprised joe was there... he's a fan, of not only his work but his pioneering techniques.... les paul is a legend....a genius.

Ya Yo Gakk...I too am a Les Paul fan...my mother brought me up on Les, and so many other greats...she even bought me Les' Box set...with all those pioneering technique's woven throughout it.

I'm in NYC all the time...maybe we could meet at the Iridium, and catch Les, and chew the JoeFat....lol...maybe get my 1969' Gibson Les Paul Professional/Recording Model signed by Les himself....who knows...maybe it'll be slow, and Les will ask me up to tingle the strings...lol?

Let me know if you'd like to hook up?

Happy Birthday...Again, Joe...Sir!

I already mentioned that my dad had a live recording of Joe that was broadcasted on the radio a while back...finally found out when and what it was from after FINALLY getting Joe's Time Machine album and reading the booklet. At the end of the live recording I have they mention the radio station 'King Biscuit Flour Hour' (or something like that). In Time Machine booklet, it says that two nights where broadcasted, the 1st being the one where the guy fell from the lighting fixture -the one not put into any recording on a CD- which happens to be the version that my dad recorded off the radio in '88... The one where Satch's guitar was out of tune and he was all shook up about the guy falling from the lighting fixture... None of that night was put onto any CD... I'm lucky enough to be one of probably a small amount of people who have that recording from that night! The other night you can find recordings of on Time Machine and Dreaming #11. I wasn't sure of when my dad taped that live show, he wasn't either, he happened to find it a few months ago when he had to move some stuff in the basement. You're not going to find what I have anywhere else, the night that Joe had originally only had scheduled to be recorded!
