Joe has used a Palmer Speaker Simulator relatively recently... isn't that a kind of attenuator? You plug the head direct to the box, no cab... just wondered ;-)

Hello!

I first wrote to the host and the master Joe, so can I now communicate to my fellows ("rčgles de l'hospitalité obligent").

I have recorded 10 instrumental songs on :

http://perso.wanadoo.fr/badaboumboumboum

It was recorded with a free software and a cheap microphone. But my relatives find that the result is not so bad...

It must be listen in stereo.

I hope you will listen and enjoy... Please give me your advice in my email box.

Cordialement Badaboum

PS: sorry for the ortograph and grammar mistakes

PhryDom...Joe has nothing to do with the the cost of the copy of the show...it's NBC's duplicator's cost's....they'll stream it to you on the internet for about $235.00. castle49 stated she thought it would be 5 minutes of a clip of "The Sonoma Concert"...from what NBC said it should only be a portion of the show.

btw...Joe did just give use 2 hours of free concert in Anaheim...which was awesome.

I didn't want Joe to take the rap...lol

Van Halen Book

A new book about Van Halen, entitled Van Halen 101, is scheduled for a September release. The publication examines the band's career, with an emphasis on the life and talents of guitarist Eddie Van Halen. The biography also will include a detailed discography, a foreword written by Queen's Brian May and testimonials praising Eddie by Ted Nugent, Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde and many others.

Computers help tech-savvy counterfeiters cash in

USA TODAY - WASHINGTON — The popularity and affordability of home computers have revolutionized one of the nation's oldest crimes: counterfeiting. Thanks to advances in digital copying technology, desktop computers and color printers now produce about 97% of today's fake $5, $10 and $20 bills, says Jonathan Cherry, a U.S. Secret Service spokesman. About 80% of counterfeit $50 bills are made with home computers.

That's a significant jump since 2003, when 46% of all counterfeit money passed in the USA was made with digital technology, according to the Secret Service.

Many phony bills being churned out come from inexpensive inkjet printers and scanners available at bargain electronics stores.

Once the province of criminals who fancied themselves artists, today's counterfeiters are often young people with computers looking to make enough fake money to fund a weekend of fun. Others are petty crooks and drug dealers.

Last year, the Secret Service estimates, $43.4 million in counterfeit money was passed in the USA. There is $700 billion in genuine U.S. currency worldwide.

Technology that can create sharper, more realistic fakes has led to the U.S. government's recent redesigns of the $20 and $50 bills.

"Fifteen years ago, it was much harder," says Dale Pupillo, deputy special agent in charge of the Secret Service's criminal investigation division. "You had to use off-set printers, and you had to mix the ink. ... With the computer inkjet printer and tabletop color printers, for a couple hundred dollars' investment, you can just print what you need."

The trend alarmed the Federal Reserve Board so much that it now uses a Counterfeit Deterrence System, an anti-counterfeiting technology not unlike a virtual watchdog that barks if you try to print money.

The system is used by some of the world's largest computer copier and software companies, such as the makers of Adobe Photoshop, to block people from scanning or printing money.

The products detect a code built into colors that have been added to $20 and $50 bills. If a printer or scanner detects the color code, it shuts down and flashes a warning. The technology does not trace a user who tries to print counterfeit currency, Cherry said.

"This is global," says Eugenie Foster of the Federal Reserve Board. "It's become so much easier that we really had to take a different approach in terms of deterring counterfeiting."

OCPS470,

Regarding the Hot Plate: Yeah, cranking both volumes on the JSX was what I meant... Too bad you can't match up your H.P. to your JSX to check it out as it was intended. Oh well. Even though his amps may be loud, I can't believe Satch has everything cranked (would kill the first row?) so he's probably not overdriving his power tubes either. Must be a kick-a** amp! Can't wait to try one out (waiting for some other gear to come in at the moment). Just had a JCM TSL 2000 in here for a week, but the Marshal heads are such a one-trick pony when it comes to tone and overdrive (but a good one trick pony!), and I'm looking for an amp with more "hair" to replace my aging MP-2 preamp (which is the sh*t for versatility). I'm looking forward to playing with the JSX active Eq on the two gain channels.

I checked out a couple tunes on your site. Very nice! No Satriani influence there, huh? :-) Great work!

Anyway, thanks again for the great info. If I think of any more JSX questions, I'll be sure to shoot them your way!

JP

Things You Don't Want to Hear at an Amusement Park

5> "All the rides have been built and inspected to the high standards of the Halliburton Corporation."

4> "You must have at least this much medical insurance to ride this ride."

3> "There's all-you-can-eat Brunswick stew over by the triple-loop coaster."

2> "To fasten your seat belts, insert the flat end into the-- whoops, you're already moving! Enjoy the ride!"

and the Number 1 Thing You Don't Want to Hear at an Amusement Park...

Good Morning Satchland.......

Zinc...... Thanks for the update on Van Halen. I miss those guys. I hope somehow someway they can get it togather again. Eddie is one of the most influential guitarists of our time. I think I stated this before..... Ed was responsible for so many guys and some girls go pick up a guitar. When Van Halen came out ....not only did we all look at the guitar in a different light and go " What the F... was that " ? All of sudden thousands of guitars were being sold. A lot of guitar manufactures should of kissed Ed's ass for those sales. But we all benifited by this. Think of all the guitarists we love today that were influenced by him. Anyway, just my opinion. Thanks.

Anyone using a Line 6 XT Live?

Have A Great Day ! ! ! !

Hi Joe, Hi everyone

This message is for advise with regards to the Ibanez JS10. How do people fix the scratches in the Chrome. I am lucky to have one, however the chrome has come off underneath the volume pot. This has unfortunately prompted me to put the chromeboy away and never play it again as i don't want to do anymore damage. If anyone could offer any advice I would be grateful Thanks Testas

PhryDom - I don't think the channel is trying to make money off Joe. It's a local events type program. The tape is only offered as a courtesy. Joe is playing at a benefit. The show is promoting it. That's all. No victims.

JPgtr: Thanks for checking out the tunes! I think I remember Joe saying he sets the master at about 5 or 6.

Phrydom: The Palmer is just a speaker simulator. You can run the head into it then into a PC for recording purposes, and send it to either a load box (sans cab) or a cab. YOu can use it this way live too to bypass a mic.
