I'm pretty much with ya Cube.I'm just not into that design that PRS uses.I can't really play arch tops anyways, but it's just so...mundane.

I also find them extremely inconsistent.I've played maybe 30 PRS's and actually liked...2 of them, I think.

Gibsons do hold their value, so I'll give ya that. They still blow. :D

dakook, I'm still not sure I like the whole platinum ticket thing, but it doesn't matter.....it's nothign to hold against Joe! And also, I suppose everything has it's special edition.....it's just like collector's CDs or collector's guitars.....not everybody can afford them, but there's no reason why those who are keen enough shouldn't be able to pay for them.

I was one of the lucky people who randomly won an aftershow experience with Vai before he stopped offering them....as a result I got to meet Joe and Jeff, and having had interesting conversations with both of them and just being generally amazed at what genuinely nice guys they were, I have to admit I probably would pay to do that again. I'm just waiting for the next Joe tour!

I missed out on the Vai premium tickets this time around....they sold out too quickly....but I did want to get a premium ticket for my sister for her birthday....oh well :-(

Clarky, man you've been busy! Hardly see you around any more...hope the mixing is going ok! Externalising.....how do I explain this? It's a certain way of mixing an audio channel through a send filter which works sort of like panning narrower or wider in stereo, but it goes in and out instead. If something is fully externalised it willsound kind of weird, 'cause it might sound like that instrument is in a different room or something, but in the right moderation it can be really useful.

Say you've got some important notes in your bass riff that are being whitewashed by your kickdrum......you could move your kick backwards slightly so it's still the same volume, still the same tone, resonance and so on, but it's not occupying the same virtual space as the bass. I guess a better example would have been keyboard and rhythm guitar, but you catch my drift, I hope?!

Only thing is, I only know how to do it if you're using computer software to mix....if you're using all hardware and none of it has software-plugin compatibility, then I can't help. Although I guess you could use 3D panning and move things forward and backward. Does any of that make sense?!

Delfino, "if she loved him, she wouldn't have joined in"....haha, that's hilarious dude!
Ethn Hyabusa, yeah man, inconsistency is a massive flaw for PRS, in my opinion. When you pick up any PRS you should think "oh, this feels like a PRS", but usually I'm more likely to think "oh, this feels....err....different"
Zenfish, yeah on all channels the Stiletto seemed generally bad. I remember it being incredibly reverby too, which I hate. Still, see what you think, everybody likes different sounds....I don't think I would concurr with the STiletto sounding more "British" though. Cornfords and Laneys I've tried have sounded bags better!

Man, if your friends drunk and pole-dancing do not rest your hand on the bar surrounding the pole while taking photos of him...

My mate trod in a load of broken glass jumped upto the hand rail where my hand was and sliced me finger to pieces...all in all it was a brilliant night in which we got asked to leave the club for forming a conga line to the conga song ¬__¬...I guess there was a 5 conga-line limit and as we had already made 4 conga lines to random songs that it didn't suit then I s'pose it was right to ask us to leave lol.

However today is a sad day, I'm packing up all my stuff. Tomorrow I head off to University.

962: I've been curious for ever..... What does it take to do the psycho-acoustic effects you hear in some recordings that make it sound like a track is panning around the front or back of your head instead of side to side (in the headphones)?

Good Morning all from Canada!!! I have a question for anyone that wants to answer! My son is only seven years old and wants to be put in guitar lessons. Do you think that is a good age for him to start? I know nothing about guitars. All I know is I like the music. Of course his dream is to play like Joe. But I think thats lots of peoples dream.

hey joe. i'm sorry i missed the G3 tour in the U.K. in 2003, but i was wondering would you do another G3 tour in the UK or could you do a solo tour because i would really like to see you live. by the way keep up the good albums. i have been playing guitar for three years and i am almost 17. i wish that i started it sooner. i started to listen to your music about 1 year after i started playing and you wouldn't believe how much this has helped my technique and overall playing. i am going to see steve vai in october and i'm really lookig forward to it but i would really like to see you live because you are my idol and hero. thanks for being a good artist and i don't know how you do these good records but keep them up. they are amazing. from simon goode, birmingham, united kingdom.

sugarbaby, yeah be frank and open with them...trying to carefully choose your words and not say something that might upset them is the wrong thing to do, 'cause it usually gets misinterpreted!
OCPS470, I've never understood the physics of 3D panning, I just know it can be really useful, especially if you've recorded a lot of individual tracks of drum kit and you want to be able to hear the lot. It's the same if you've recorded a big string section or an orchestra and you want clear definition of all parties....3 dimensions is the way to go, but then it takes a lot of skill to use it a lot and make it sound good!

Good Morning Satchland,, I saw there was a "THE BOB" sighting in here late last night. Hey dude, Sugarbaby, whenever I feel a road trip coming on, i grab my joe's and off I go,I don't actually speed, "too much, but I find that listening to joe really loud with the windows rolled down is a great feeling of euphoria, lol, af for your question, I have an eight year old whose interest change every 5-10 minutes, but if your kid has an interest in learning to play, get an inexpensive guitar that's not bowed or that will kill the hand(fingers) they'll loose interest, and have let the jams begin, in time you should be able to tell if the interest is real enough to justify a little nicer guitar.
