Zenfish:Bad day at the office ol bro?lol. Have to say friend if it wasnt for Joe,Vai and the many thousands that have gifted me with such great music over the years, i,d probably still be a car mechanic dreaming "maybe i could have tried harder" Being motivated by hearing such work has brought me round the world meeting great people, teaching, touring & recording with some really incredible musicians some who i consider to be way, way more talented than me.I expect nothing from anyone, least of all Joe or Steve Its an amazing feeling to be able to make music that moves people to want to listen or buy your music, no money can buy that, no words can summarize, so i must end this by saying:

Thanks Mr Joe Satriani for the inspiration over the years thats helped evolve my understanding of music & the thousands of others its sure to! Power to ya, Rock On!

There is such a thing as absolute, shining grace in this world, and today I have been fortunate to meet several people who have it.....

One, a lovely couple, she with an inoperable brain tumor, he in liver failure, frequent dialysis and both know their time is very short. They laugh over their conditions and wonder who will be the first to go, all the while looking at each other with complete love and devotion. I am unable to help them with our programs even with these circumstances for reasons not to go into here...and yet.......they sincerely thanked me for coming and blessing them today with my visit. Their faces were radiant with love, peace and acceptance...and I cried as I drove away, frustrated that there was nothing I could do for them.

Two, a single, vivacious and exceedingly cheerful woman with a horrible, disfiguring and extremely painful disease. She worries much about others and how they fare in the world and wishes she had more to give...when in truth, monetarily she has little...but her spirit just shines from her ravaged body and she gives solace and comfort to everyone around her. She is a younger woman who isn't afraid to meet death head on, but plans on living her life to the fullest until it's her time to go. I am able to help her, a little.... She too, thanks me for my visit and tells me how I helped cheer up her day...and again I cried as I drove away, feeling overwhelmed with the experience....

.....I wish I had an ounce of the grace and dignity these people have....and I feel so fortunate to have met them......

**hugs to everyone out there...**

Anybody know anything about Classical guitars? What are some good brands that a mere mortal can afford, without the need of a second mortgage (or first, in my case...)?

cheese....Thanks for sharing what you experienced today. I am very moved by your words. It's hard to see as I write this. I'm most likely the biggest woose on this forum. LOL.... But I'm a rightous person who's very much in touch with his feelings. I've paid dearly for that and I'm not going into what that means....just trust me on that one. You have a lot more grace and dignity then you think. You can't feel what you wrote and wrote what you feel without these qualities in yourself. Take care.

Master Yoda...... Try Carvin. I hear their guitars are really good and a lot of bang for the buck. The reviews from guitar mags are always really good. Ask on the Carvin forum also. You'll get helpful responses. http://www.carvin.com Hope this helps.

MASTER YODA- Have you had a look round the Barry Mason's Spanish Guitar Centre in Cranbourn Street (I think) in London? You come out of Leicester Square tube station, turn right and it's just along the road a bit. Their prices start quite low c. £80 and go up to several K. My husband Matt bought a really good one there. Depends on your budget.

Also Hanks in Denmark Street has some good mid-price classical guitars. You can talk about it if we manage to all meet up before the Vai gig in October! :)

JEFFROCK- I have a JSX Head- and am very happy with the tones. It certainly doesn't sound like a hissing mosquito- I think it's really responsive?Maybe it's your set-up that's got a fault, not the JSX?

Yoda, check out the Yamaha CF series, the "f" is for flamenco... Those suckers have thin fast necks and action as well as a thinner body. They are also available with built in bridge pickups.......

Master Yoda, I agree with the Takamine and Yamaha votes....they're good guitars, and easy to find here. Carvin are great but you can't buy them in this country, which means you're f*ck*d if anything breaks and needs repairing/replacing!

mikesb...yeah, I heard the news this morning....Richie Ash of Sam Ash (nationwide music store chain) was one of the owners...very surprised to see it close, but at $38.00 general admission & $6.00 beers to see no name acts...I wondered how they'd continue to make money....saw Yngwie, Rick Derringer, Johnny Winter, Joe Bonamassa there, very nice little venue...shame it couldn't keep the doors open.

I nearly entered the Hot Guitar Licks competition there last year in August, but I wanted to wait another year to be armed with more musical weaponry....lol...we would have opened for Buddy Miles...you know...Jimi Hendrix's drummer...guess now...it won't be held there....

Cheese101: Your experiences today touched my soul....... Hugs to you Traci! Have faith, it's very hard sometimes though. I KNOW all to well these situations.......Look to the good in their souls and lives. That is what matters most. I know it makes you cry sometimes and I feel aashamed for being depressed when I meet people like that. I have so much to be grateful for....I do count my blessing! We just need to remember that each day is a gift...that's why thay call it the present! God Bless.

Zenfish: Do not fear my friend......Slanshroom has many supporters. Ronnie has done so much work to get Roy's music to the world! He deserves all of our Thanks and Graditude..... I will personally give VAi my Roy CD when I see him in the UK......I think I'll give it to him in Glasgow. I think that will be most fitting. London will be a busy place for VAi. I will do my best to get Roy's music heard. Anything I can do to help I will. That's a Promise! .... Let me know when you are sending the CD for Steven. I will tell him.

Bahduh: I sent Steven your message. I haven't heard from him since I last spoke with him on the computer a few weeks back...... I will call him this weekend to make sure he's doing well. I worry about him. He's been very silent, not a good sign but maybe he's been busy with music, I hope. If I was an Angel I would save him from the drugs and the ghetto.....I'll keep on praying.......I hope your son Jordan is doing better, recovering from the measles. Keep The Faith. God Bless.

JS_JS: Oh Young One.......so much you have to learn. This is a "free form of consciousness" and we talk about what's going on in the world. True some people may discuss much about their political views but then some also use this board as a chat room. Sound familiar? I don't like reading about political issues any more than you do so I try to skim over if I'm not interested but I've also learned alot here about the world and politics. I don't have as much free time as someone your age.....With freedom there is a price. ; )

However I agree, I'd rather talk about music but this is a Big World and "everything" permeates all aspects of our lives. I used to hate to watch the News when I was your age because it was so boring. Now I don't watch it because it's so damn depressing. Chatting on the board takes up time and space as well....I've been here since after my "Satrianization" G3-03 on November 5, 2003......I did my 1st post in December I think..... So what's your Satch story? How long have you been here? I haven't seen you around lately. :o)

Mari

btw: I dislike "Chatting on the Board" as much as I dislike Politics. Touche'! I almost left because of excessive chatting here. I've learned to become more patient and tolerent. Peace.

MASTERYODA: If'in' you have alot of weather there, look into the Ovation classical. You should have less weather related problems with it there. It is very hard to find a spanish heal, or bridge classical now-a-days. Look around at pawn shops to see what you can find. Look online for collectors to find an "Investment!" Good luck! KTF Randell
