I've been trying to learn Spanish. It' s a lot of fun. I'm hoping to make a trip to Mexico. I've heard some horror stories though.
Been listening to Mana. A great band out of Mexico. They're super stars there.
Just keep doing what you're doing. I'll be lurking in the shadows!!!! LOL.

Climber Enjoy our beautiful language just as I enjoy yours, hope you went to see the Jaguares (jaguars) it's one of the bands that start what we call the latin rock, the band call EL TRI it's a rock blues band, they usually have urban lyrics. If you want to hear some great guitar players of latin america there is this guy call Alejandro Marcovich and also a band call Juanes. well and the clasics like Santana or Chamin Correa.

Dear Joe, I wanted to write to tell you about my brother Nathan. He's your biggest fan, all he did was listen to your music, watch your DVD's and learn your music.

Sadly he took his own life in May this year. I just wanted to tell you what an inspiration you were to him and if it wasn't for your music we probably would've lost him a long time ago. I think that your music was an escape for him, a place that he could go to forget his troubles. He missed your show and signings in Perth this year, but was cremated with one of your books that my boyfriend got signed, something I think he would've loved.

You were his idol and the reason he continued playing guitar. The police told us that your CD was playing in the car when they found him, I know that he would've been relaxed and happy knowing that you'd be the last thing he'd hear . Starry Night was the song played at his funeral which he said was what he wanted.

Thankyou for being such an inspiration to Nathan without even knowing it.

Gemma.

Joe, and fans, I think it is time I wrote and let you know now much your music has helped me, so much in my life. In so many ways, in inspiring me as I wonder, look at the sea and sky, and how it can rescue our spirits, open traps, set us free and can show us that dream catching is not impossible, and that perfection is not always necessary at times in our life; in the highs and lows.

I’m also looking forward to your next array of songs, amazing licks and where you take us. You're a true force of hope, an inspiration, and you gotta know it by now Joe - thank you.

Keniko, thanks amigo! Yeah, I'm well pleased about it, I've wanted to do some guitar teaching in schools for ages, so this is my first step!

Yeah, I totally know what you mean about transcribing.....I started doing a simplified "A Train Of Angels" for some of my students last week. Afterwards I was trying to figure out some of the solo and it is so badass! haha. Also, I started looking at some Eric Johnson stuff a couple of moths back and just hit a brick wall, but it was definitely one of those moments where you're laughing in sheer disbelief/amazement that they really are playing what it sounds like they're playing! hehe. Good stuff!

js1200js1000, dude it sounds like you've given up on getting your money back?
Gemma, I don't know what to say other than "welcome", and thanks for sharing your story! Joe's music has provided an escape for a few of us, I'm sure, and is a great inspiration to many. We had "Always With Me, Always With You" played in memory of my Dad, at his funeral service just over 2 years ago, and none of us regret doing that, even if it is unconventional!

SteveeT - bro.. I'm getting good mixes now.... Clarky is a happy bunny... lol...

this comparative EQ thing is really working.....

did I mention that Envy [my RG7620] is in a custom shop getting a new body....
Amrican Alder with a real thick quilted maple top..
the tree that the top is made from grew up in Washington state - NW coast big leaf maple is widely regarded as the tipest topest quality by your regular exotic wood pervert..
the body will be translucent electric blue..
also, I'm having the headstock sorted to match the body..
this should be double cute when it's all done..

Slansh - after a real tough week even a pint of old spice would hit the spot... oops.. I'm showing my meffer heratige.. lmao..
how about a nice round of golf... but only on the 19th hole.. lol..
zen - I know what you mean about Fripp's dissonance being 'natural'.. it don't seem 'forced'.. yet it still has the qualitities to shock and surprise...
I think that the modern progers [Dream Theatre] try too hard... forcing the dissonance... losing the natural quality.. and replacing that with cheap thrills that are technical and technique centric....

sort of like an Imprezza STI... fast and furious....
but it lacks the class and style of a nice Aston Martin..

Artaud is an interesting and strange guy.... I need to learn more about him... he has an unusual outlook...

Malmsteen - oh yes... love him or hate him.. you cannot question his conviction and sheer energy....
looking back... I studied all the Malsmsteen stuff to learn to play fast.... but I learnt greater lessons that I maybe didn't appreciate at the time.. like playing to effect.. delivery with total commitment driven by raw passion...
and now for me today.. there is no other way to play...
although his style and vibe is different.. I think that the music of SRV comes from the same place within...

SteveeT - Envy is already on everything, Our Blood, Space Time, all of the Shredz at an Exhibition stuff....

right now, she is a right hand RG7620 in black, restrung leftie, and has an EVO7 pickup at the bridge and a Blaze at the neck...

the body conversion means that I'll have a guitar that I can play standing [on stage], have full access to the neck [no longer relegated to riffing only] and the LoPro Edge get's converted to leftie.... so she'll be a complete l/h Ibanez RG7620 - Morgan Custom
and shedding the boring black finish in favour of the blue quilt means that she'll have a more J-Custom / LA-Custom look

Morgan Custom usually made PRS style hand made guitars.. absolutely top quality materials and craftmanship...
Envy should be awesome looking when she's done..

when Morgan custom have finished Envy, I'm going to have Avarice's neck reprofiled - to make her a little 'sportier'..
right now, her neck is a little chunky for my tastes.. imagine a big fat Strat neck but 7-string... feels nice, but for me and my style, I prefer a little less of a 'blocky' feel..

I've seen some of the Morgan's up close... finished and during manufacture.... they are simply breath taking...
there was a l/h one in there newly finished... Brazilian Mahog body and neck [no fingerboard.. all solid mahog]
it was a hard tail, glue neck [very deep into the body with a mega tight fit into the neck pocket... looked somewhere between a PRS and a Yam SG2000.. but better balanced..
2 humbuckers but they were made from single coils.. all hand wound to spec...
when using the coil tap, there was not even a hint of tapped h/b tone.. sounded pure single...

the neck was rapid.... the tone was huge.. clear.. made my hair stand on end....

I'm pretty sure that never again will I buy an Ibanez....

my next guitar will be a Morgan Custom to my spec...

they're a lot of dosh... but with out doubt... they are of the highest quality in all areas....

for the price of two Morgans, I could buy 12 L/H RG's - because the latest L/H Ibanez is piss poor bottom of the range... great value for money... but not a patch on the old RG550L.... and nothing that'd interest me... not now..

bro... you need to play and hear one of these... it'll make you cry..

Hey Joe!

I became a fan a few years ago when I heard your music being played on an internet radio station in Los Angeles KNAC.com, impressed when I heard big bad moon, fairly rock based at the start and then when guitar solo came in I was a big fan.

I really want to thank you and your band for the concert on the saturday 19th in melbourne in march this year. I was one of the 26 that made it there, i got 2 of my band members to come along as well and we had a fantastic night. I was amazed that you were all able to play for 3 hours, and not have a cover band do the first part of the show. To have such great musicians fly over from halfway around the world to perform in melbourne was awesome. Out of your performance I have started learning how to play bass guitar for a heavy metal band called mozart on crack (we play a mixture of heavy metal with classical music hence the name ;) )

I am looking forward to the next time I get to see everyone play again.

Cheers,

Andrew

This is the same school that wouldn't let students use electric instruments in their band for the talent show last year. Things were resolved after Dee Snyder (Twisted Sister) got involved. He sang WITH the band for the talent show. Now this... it was actually front page in yesterdays newspaper. Today it's front page of section B.

Hamburg student makes the cut - District officials relent and say a mohawk hairstyle won't prevent Tyler J. Walthers, 11, from having his photo in the yearbook. By Mike Urban Reading Eagle

One day after it seemed his mohawk haircut might get him scalped from the Hamburg Middle School yearbook, Tyler J. Walthers learned his photo will be published, his mother said Thursday.

The sixth-grader prepared for school-picture day Wednesday by using glue to mold his blond hair into 4-inch spikes.

But Principal Stephen J. Seier stopped Tyler from having his photo taken and told him his mohawk wouldn't appear in the yearbook.

Administrators later allowed him to pose for the photographs that his mother, Jo Ann Walthers, had paid $38 to have taken.

But it wasn't until Jo Ann met Thursday with Seier and Dr. William N. Kiefer, superintendent, that she learned the yearbook would include Tyler and his skyward-pointing locks.

Kiefer also said Tyler, 11, could continue to wear the mohawk to school as long as it did not disrupt other students, said Jo Ann, a teacher's aide at the high school.

On Thursday, Kiefer would not comment on the case, other than to say the administration acted appropriately and resolved the matter quickly.

Though the school's dress code does not mention hairstyles, it does state that dress and appearance are part of a productive education atmosphere.

Speaking of that code, Kiefer said it is important in maintaining a structured environment.

“Otherwise things could get chaotic,” he said.

Seier referred questions to Kiefer.

Jo Ann didn't get the administration to apologize to her son as she requested, but said that didn't bother her.

If there is a disruption due to Tyler's hairstyle, the staff should punish the kids acting up, not her son, she said.

“This isn't something bad he's doing,” she said.

Tyler, who spikes his hair only for special occasions because it takes 20 minutes to do so, said his mohawk had never led to problems prior to Wednesday.

“I'm glad I can still wear it that way,” he said. “And that I'm going to be in the yearbook.”

Good Morning Satchland......

Does anyone have the Michael Angelo Batio "Speed Kills" DVD? What's it like and is it worth picking up? I know Guitar World rated this DVD very high. Just lookin' for a T2Jer's opinion. Thanks.

962...... I hope I didn't mislead you. I wasn't transcibing the "House Full Of Bullets" solo. I've been learning it passage by passage for the last couple of weeks. I've been using the Tascam CD GT-1 which has been very helpful in slowing down the parts in pitch to hear what Joe is doing. When a passaage is to difficult to play at tempo. I practice over and over again till it's right and move on. It's been a wonderful learning experence. What's also helping is Guitar One's Oct. " Monster Chops " issue. Great reference for picking techniques and warm up drills. I would recommend that issue for any guitarists library.

michelle...... Ha ! ! ! ! You obviously have the advantage... LOL. " Go Ahead...Make My Day " ...".Say Hello to My Little Freinds" .....( well...there your friends ) Is this movie quote day or something? LOL..... Take Care.

As Always..... Have A Great Day Everyone ! ! ! !
