SHREDGUY: If you want a fluid lead tone out of the JSX try these settings on Crunch or Ultra channels: Presence 0, Resonance 0, trebble 0, mid 5, bass 8, gain 10, master 10, preamp volume 3-5 depending on volume you need. I'm using the JSX with the Legacy 4X12 top cab with greenbacks, so it has a nice brightness and it breaks up in a vintage way, so I don't need to push the presence or resonance. If your cab is very tight and harsh though, bump the resonance up until it loosens up a little in the bass and low mids. Add presence if you need more trebble, add trebble if you need more fizz or grit ala Randy Rhodes tone. One last thing...keep the Fat switch on, it makes things sound really fluid in the mids. Hope this helps. Also, when the footwitch is attached to the amp with the FX Bypassed, you get more volume output than if you ran the amp with the footswitch unplugged. If you run FX, set the FX send to 10 and only add gain to the FX return if you need to balnce the volume better with the bypassed FX volume.

Hey there Alex... Yep buddy still kicking...
just got a new job closer to home, no more one and a half hour drives... and this new job pays more... that's good seeing as the gas prices in Canada went through the roof, for Canadians 0.68 cents a Litre was expensive enough going by last year's prices around this same time last year... now they fluctuate anywhere from 1 dollar to 2 dollars a Litre... I don't know the coversions from Litres to Gallons but all I know is we're paying more in Canada which is silly... we have our own oil fields and wells here that could easily sustain this country, but the problem is that alot of our oil isn't even used nation wide, and we still buy gas off the US...
I know it's a big sob story but it kind of cost me my job where I was before... I was paying 100 to 140 dollars a week in fuel to fill a Honda Accord to get to work everyday...
Awe well... I'm closer to home, that's the main thing...

<br>The way that I heard of Joe Satriani was when I was reading a guitar Encyclopedia that was given to me as a present. Naturally, I turned to the metal section of the book where there were a few short descriptions of Van Halen, Steve Vai, and then I saw Joe Satriani where the description said, "Joe Satriani: respected by musicians and non-musicians alike, known for many techniques, and master of the staccato method". I looked further to see that the, "Surfing With The Alien" album was mentioned as a recommended research for the heavy metal guitarist, along with Steve Vai's, "Passion and Warfare" album.<br>
<br>One day, me and my guitarist were talking about good guitarists, and then he said, "oh, you know Joe Satriani?" and I said, "I've heard of him, but I haven't actually heard him". He then said, "oh, well, he was Steve Vai's teacher" my ears then pricked up, "REALLY?"<br>
<br>The first Satch song I ever heard was "Crushing Day", unlike most people, I would listen to that song over and over because I loved the rhythm parts. I then wasted no time in getting a CD, I came across this double CD called, "The Electric Joe Satriani: An Anthology" I thought it would be a good way to start listening to Satch and so I bought that album which is sort of like a "Best of" CD literally on the same day that I bought my first electric guitar.<br>
<br>Joe, unfortunately I started listening to your music after you came to Perth this year. Would it be possible if you could make another appearance sometimes next year? If you can't, I understand, you must be busy. But if you can, I'll be super happy.

hello ! to whoever im writing this 2..im playing a few of joe's technically less demanding songs such as starry night,always with me,friends,rubina,etc..is there a place that has joe's equipment listed that he uses to record/perform these songs (or all) ....the amp,pickups,pedals,etc? i use an ibanez RG370,evolution bridge pickup,through the behringer ultrastack,doesnt sound the best. any help would be muchly appreciated

How did joe get the sound of the 2nd guitar on Flying in a Blue Dream...You know the detuned C guitar strumming the main chords in the background....
Was it a nylon string or electric....
silly question I know...but this question threatens to destroy a continent if its isn't resolved soon.

js1200js1000, okay, anodising. Er, I'm trying to remember how it goes now. But basically, you take something that's made of alumium and you want to paint - a bike or a wheel or a flashlight, for example. You could just spray it with paint, but the finish will be imperfect and it will flake off easily.
Aluminium isn't magnetic, so you can't magnetize it to make the paint stick. But, what you can do is run an electric current through the thing being painted. You charge it up with positive electric energy. You hook a spray gun up to a bottle of aluminium-enriched powder. It's generally not wet paint (although I believe it can be), but you run a negative electric current through the bottle. This charges all the aluminium particles in the paint with negative electricity.
You then just spray the bastards at the bike/wheel/flashlight and they stick like a cat to velcro. It's just like firing iron filings at a big magnet! You can also anodise with a chrome finish using the exact same process - it's the properties of the chrome that give it it's perfect finish.
Obviously a guitar isn't made of aluminium, it's made of wood. But you can coat the entire guitar body with a fine layer (or two) of aluminium enriched paint/solution, and then hang it up and run a positive current through it. When you fire the negatively charged colour - in this case Chrome - at it it sticks perfectly all over without running and dripping and gathering round contours.
That's basically how it works, and is about all I could remember from what I was taught at school. but I think it's about right!
edit: I meant to say, the new Chrome JS is real chrome, it's just Chrome on Ally on wood rather than chrome on Luthite.
Powerslave, I dunno, I think I'll have to have the first one, but that'll be a prototype so you get the first production model! haha. I think Sims LED might use an electrical process for their aftermarket chroming....if they do, I'll talk to them about my anodising idea, and see if they can do it. Then all I need is some kind of JS with black hardware!

Yep I totally agree and I'm all for it myself because I don't smoke, but the bar owners find it hard now because smokers generate sales of booze generally more often than non-smokers, and in saying that they can't keep the evenings busy enough to hire bands to play, less booze is being sold there-fore the bars have to cut back and cut their own losses...

Simon, I "hate" or I find difficult to understand when a talented musician says something like "no...I'm not so good". Each musician is an unique personality, the work of a musician is to express his personality through his instrument and instrumental rock is such an inspiring music that helps so much emotionally...Since I was little I was really hooked by music and sometimes I think I couldn't have survived in this "hard" world without this type of music...So yeah, I love your music and I think you should believe in yourself more...and I'll spread the word ;-)
And yesterday, something very cool happened to me when I was doing my usual shopping hehe. In the biggest Spanish department store "El Corte Inglés", I was finishing my shopping and suddenly in the piped music began to sound Steve Vai's "Lotus Feet" haha. It was so cool...in these stores normally don't put instrumental rock or rock...And that made me think...instrumental rock should be the music of the future...and sound everywhere. :-)
