Keniko
very interesting and tempting.
It would depend on what happens this and early next week to see if I can get away and see either one of those shows.
Maybe we should post early next week and touch base.

SHredGUy: To get the sounds of Petrucci and Morse, etc etc, I would say the FX will do little for you. THe best way to get there is to tweak the knobs on the JSX. Also, Petrucci uses the neck pickup for at least half of his soloing, and almost everyfast run/ sweep he does uses the neck pickup. If you have a Dimarzio Air Norton in the neck on your guitar, that will get you more in the ball park (JP's old neck pu in the Ibanez guitars). Anyway, that setting I gave you gives me an all around nice smooth sound that I can use as a jumping off point to approximate alot of styles just by changing my pickup settings and varying my style and technique. Hope that helps. As far as cool FX go though, The Boss DD6 is an excellent delay. I have that, a Boss Chorus Ensamble, a Digitech whammy, Morley Bad Horsie and Little Aligator, Dunlop Rotovibe, Fulltone Ultimate Octave and a DS1 (I don't really need this, I just stick it on the ol' pedal board to augment the Fulltone sometimes). This kind of a setup gets me almost any FX tone I need. I woud say that instead of geting a big rack unit(which cost a bunch and has a bunch of things you don't need) get each individual effect you want as a pedal. Try to get pedals with true bypasses, and if you can't get those, try the pedals out and get ones that minimally color the tone. Get very short high quality cables to go between the pedals (I use Dimarzio 6inch pedal connectors). Using all of thsoe pedals, my tone is virtually non- affected my having all of those pedals connected. Just remember to put Delay, Modulation FX (FLange, Phaser, CHorus) and the whammy pedal (or other harmonizers) in the FX loop. This lets the amp run cleaner on the front end. Put distortions, Fuzzes, pedals like the rotovibe (exception to the modulation pedal rule), wah wah, and volume pedal in front of the amp.

Hi Joe,
i understand that u have used Conford amps in the past especially in some of your early recordings.
two questions :
1) What did you think of them(professionally and technically),
2) Why did you not continue to use and develop similar to your collabration with peavey/JSX
I thank you in advance for your kind and quick reply to my post.
Regards,
Couros

LucySorets, thanks for your kind words and encouragement! Yeah, you're right actually, each musician has something to offer, something I'm trying to build on with some of my students at the moment, but I should believe a little in my own stuff too! haha. I haven't come up with much lately, but I'm currently very busy transcribing a Piano duet arrangement of Handel's Cortége ~ The Queen Of Sheba. The transcription is for three guitars and a bass, and when I've done all that and recorded it note for note I'll try rearranging it too! It's cool, I'm learnign some interesting stuff from it and it seems my music theory is better than I thought it was, so it's not all bad!
"El Corte Inglés"....The English Court? That sucks, your own stuff is so much more interesting! hehe. That's funny that you heard Lotus Feet being played, you'd never hear anything like that here in a store. It's always just top-40 chart/MTV type stuff, if somebody played some Vai they'd be fired for being uncool! How ironic that "The English Court" should be doing something so non-English!
js1200js1000, haha, I'm not honestly sure of what Luthite is. It's some sort of plastic that sets with a very, very fine, smooth grain and a flawless finish. If you try to sand a block of nylon it will peel and roll up and turn horrible, the only way to get a smooth finish is by moulding it, but if you sand a piece of injection moulded stuff like, for example, plastic scale-model kits are made of, it comes up really nice.
I would guess that it's that kind of plastic that is used for a Luthite guitar like the Ergodyne or the JS10th, 'cause it means the body can be cut in one piece from a block with a laser-cutter or a CNC Router. A CNC Router is a router controlled very finely by a computer! I would think the luthite guitars are cut rather than moulded, just because it's cheaper, otherwise Ibanez have to set up a whole new production line for moulding plastic, and that costs $$$
Like I said, I'm not sure, but that's my best-educated guess! You're welcome, by the way, I'm always happy to try and help! :-)
Brother Al, cool man, it's looking good. It's a shame to see you're using that plasti-kote spray stuff.....I should have thought to advise that you try Tamiya paints. Tamiya stuff is fantastic, I use it on model cars that I make in my chill-time and it gives such a good finish. But hey, you're only spraying a small area so it should come up ok.

Ozzy covers Lennon, Walsh on new album
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Newly recorded covers of John Lennon's "Woman," Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way" and the Moody Blues' "Go Now" will be found on the Ozzy Osbourne collection "Under Cover," due November 1 as a Dualdisc.
The remaining 10 cuts of the Epic Records set were released earlier this year on the "Under Covers" disc of Osbourne's boxed set "Prince of Darkness."
Among them are Mountain's "Mississippi Queen," which features that band's guitarist, Leslie West, King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man," the Jeff Beck Group's "Hi Ho Silver Lining," Mott The Hoople's "All the Young Dudes" and the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil."
On the DVD side, fans will be treated to the featurette "Dinner With Ozzy and Friends," which finds him regaling his son Jack and Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister with tales of rock'n'roll excess. A video for Ozzy's cover of the Beatles' "In My Life" is also included.

suzie2000: I know how you feel Suzie. When I was growing up it was always a struggle to pay the bills. We just did without. It happened many times that we ran out of oil and had no hot water for days till somehow they came up with the money. Winters here are very cold and that's when we ran out........ I hope it's fixed so life can return to normal for you both. Happy 1000 by the way!! Won't be long now before I see Suzo and The Snaps! Woohoooo!
Bahduh: Steven sent me an email late last night.......He's doing Ok, hanging in there. All we can do is pray, he needs to take the big step....away from the drugs. I will try to call him again soon. I will also try when I'm in the UK so Matt and Suzie can say hello. Don't worry Mark, I know you care a great deal for Steven. I don't mind. Keep him in your prayers. OK? Steven will hopefully find his way back to himself / music and eventually to us.
alexandre: Thank you! No word from Eva "Dragonchild" in many months....I've sent her a few emails to all of the addys that I have in case she changed it and I don't know. I miss her......I know she's very busy! Just thought she would say hello, was hoping to hear from Mikey also. I sent him the Joe DVD too but never heard a word.......Oh well. :-(
Cheese101: Thanks so much Traci for sharing the weekend with us! Your photos were cool, I saw Mike Manning in the last few and Mick wearing a blue hat (it looked like Mick). Could you email me the details so I can let my friend in SF know for next year. Didn't write it down, Cohn Winery? something like that? Since it's an annual event I know she'll look for it next year. This has to be my worst month ever........ 2 days terrible! I'm a tough girlie, but Enough already. I leave in 8 days...been so busy getting ready and hopefully the rest I will have in place very soon. I can't wait!!
Mikesb: Don't worry Mike, maybe we'll catch up in chat another night. Better yet maybe we'll meet up in NYC for another great show....Thanks for the heads up on that show but I'm not leaving till next week. I'll be at London, Glasgow and Newcastle shows. I'm waiting to hear back on aftershow passes....fingers crossed!! Such a bummer that I'm going to miss 2 Frank Marino shows. I may head up to Quebec with Carol and Ray sometime to hangout with Frank. That'd be very cool.......I'd always wanted to visit there. And NO better people to hang with than native Canuks. lol Good luck with his highness YJM interview, hopefully you will not get trapped in his spandex after you ask him that question. LOL!
Shel: ;o) I thought it was perfect.
