Hello all...
How about a contest where if you win... Joe will come to your house along with the band and you get to hang out with everyone... maybe even get to jam a little with Joe himself... or even make a recording. What a dream... wouldn't that be cool!
Yeah... I would love just one day to hang out with Joe and the band and all my friends and family. They would be totally shocked knowing how much Joe is my idol, and a superstar, but at the same time he can be so down to earth.
What do you think Joe? Would you like to come to my house and RAWK?

Zen:Yip, I was listening to his interpretation of Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo live with the orchestra of Cadaques last night on CD, probably the most stunning rendition of this work to date, although the recording quality isnt top notch the playing is breathtaking, his timing when to cut the reins & let loose is perfect, always holding back, playing each note like its his last then bam, the 3rd part allegro gentile, man, no words can describe

Zen: Hmmm, It depends if you want it enough to play like that, you have a brain, 2 thumbs & eight fingers, just need the will, its not in me to play the passion of just flamenco, only the passion of fusion from what i learn, a jack of all trades, master of none, i,m happy that way.On another note so to speak...i watched TV today, thats rare for me, was watching bewitched, dont know if y get that in France, its about witch nonsense, but a line that stuck in my mind which i found amusing
"These mortals, they want to be good at something, then they get good, then they want to be amazing & become amazing, then they want to turn pro, its never enough" lmao
ok enough blah, back to recording, have a good sunday bro, must make the best of time off

Zen: Yer a bollox, lol, got me posting AGAIN! To me Al Di Meola sounds better playing acoustic, i never liked his electric sound
Electric Shred is dead,it is no longer alive, its become instead a work of art, thanks to YJM,Joe,Mr Vai being at the core.Tony Macalpine,V Moore,Greg Howe,Jason Becker,Paul Gilbert and all the varney type talent suddenly had a voice thanks to a certain tape Mr Malmsteen sent Mike which although was to my knowledge somewhat exploited, brought something new to the table, maybe the colour of tone was not established but it did kick the arse out of what technique had come to be recognized as.Shawn Lane....any disputing that phenomena...nope,Brett Garsed,Scotty Moore,Frank Gambale not to mention the king of electric improv Allan Holdsworth, man the list goes on & on
ok zen waffle over & sorry peeps for the multiple blah fest

Roy despite your take on Dimeola's sound his technique slammed me hard when i first heard him say '75 or '76. Maybe it was just my lack of exposure at that time to other fusion/jazz players but at that time it was the most fluid ferociously fast doublepicking I had everheard to that point. i was sure the tape was sped up lol until I heard him live with Stomu Yamashta shit i was depressed....... Like u I wanted to burn it all.....

Zen: Lets clarify one thing, i have great respect for Metheny, i just dont like his music, in fact i dont like jazz fusion period,i remember in college having a huge debate about John S,Pat & numerous others, i left feeling cold, the intellect left me outside, i never looked back after that, each to there own, Adrian Belew does more for me than Pat, no big deal, just my opinion, doesnt mean jack at the end of the day bro
Post whore i am today or what

Slansh at the end of the day i am more moved by passion and fury like Coryell/Mclaughlin than Metheney/Scofield Dimeola Stern etc.... am still very impressed with their technical expertise, just not my cup'o'tea to listen to... Kinda like vai, I have great respect just cannot listen... No real fire there IMHO.... That must be why i still prefer gary moore to all of the above coz it dont matter if its metal/pop/celtic/blues/fusion whatever he plays every note with fire and passion as if it was his last......
