My wish is to meet Joe Satriani before I die. Just to talk to the man would be a Great Gift in Life. I have already met part of Joe , his music , which has inspired me to play again. I have appreciated music all of my days, I am told I have a natural born talent. I would like to combine that with knowledge. Never had a lesson , couldn't afford it as a kid. My parents were both Alchoholic's and we were poor. If Joe was still teaching I would travel far just fo one lesson with him. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK , JOE.

Hi Satchland!

Finally I catch up with the posts...

Keniko, thanks for introducing us to Cliff Engel. He is amazing. I love specially the bass version of "Purple Haze". Do you know where can I buy his CDs? There's no link in his web. And I hope you find a new drummer soon for your band!

962, "LucySorets, I dunno if you're interested, but the Andy Timmons Band are doing some shows in Spain in november and december: http://www.andytimmons.com/newsframe.htm"

Yeah, I'm interested, thanks Simon! Precisely I went to my usual record shop the other day to buy some CDs and they sell the tickets! I took this flyer: Andy Timmons Spain Guitar Fest 2005. I will attend this gig almost for sure, it will be a good opportunity to know his work a bit more...I only have listened to two of his songs: "Groove Or Die" too much "shredding" for my liking and "Super 70's" that it's more melodic and I like it a lot more. I will decide if I buy his CDs or not after the show. Well! I'm reading your comments about Andy to Rob310, interesting...perhaps I change my mind ;-) And if I have a chance I'll say to him "Mr Timmons, what do you think about joining G3? hehe ;-)

fizz450_03, "hey guys any ideas where to get decent backing tracks for Starry Night, Always With Me and stuff?"

You can find a nice collection of Satch backing tracks at this site, one of the best and more known sites about Joe in the net: http://guitarplanet.free.fr/Backing%20new.htm Enjoy!

bahduh, hi my friend, sorry for not responding to your emails, I'll reply asap. Jordan's card is beautiful, thanks! give him my regards, have a nice day!

aussieRGman, congrats for your song that will appear in a DVD! That's really great! :-)

Satriella, "Did the idea for G3 come from the Seville 92 gig?" (I have to pick my jaw up from the floor every time I watch it...Does anyone know if you can get an official copy of Seville 92 - my copy from the TV is getting seriously worn out and goes fuzzy in places now - I'd really love a new copy? Secret Prayer. Look my way cos I got to talk to you people, set the record straight! My heart is pounding, my stomach's inside out - all I ever think about is flying in a blue dream on a new day, into the light, the lights of heaven that are on stage with Joe - It would be one big rush to see Rubina and Brother John - I would ride, driving at night, down, down, down to Shalla-Bal to make the phone call at midnight from home as the clouds race across the sky, with champagne in my hand and sittin round, to tell you all of the time that I saw Joe Satriani .......Ah, got to hold on to my dreams cos its a love (of guitars) thing- You're my world."

Really cool post! It seems that there's a new language on Earth, the Satch language! ;-)

Leyendas de la Guitarra at EXPO Sevilla 1992 is not released officially. I have the old vintage VHS tapes from TV too and an unofficial Japanese copy in DVD I bought at eBay, the entire concert is not featured in this DVD, only feature 90 minutes (of 130 minutes original). Fortunately Joe's set is complete :-)
I own too an unofficial 2CD bootleg called "Una Noche A Sevilla" with the entire show made in Italy.

About if Joe did the idea for G3 from the Seville 1992 gig...I think the origins of G3 could be in 1980 with that incredible and classic line-up of guitarists: John Mclaughlin, Al Di Meola & Paco De Lucia, tremendous by the way!

And welcome to Talk To Joe! It's a bit strange at the beginning but you will love it then...:-)

marimariSRV, Mari, I see you had lots of fun in your Vai tour, great. I'm looking forward to see some of your photos!

Stevee T, Thanks Steve :-) By the way, I'm looking forward to get your sampler CD, I sent you my address some time ago...did you send it? I usually have some CDs in my mailbox but nothing from you :-(

Uh I forgot, "Chromeboy and the Lava Lamp" is really nice!

Zenfish, "But the idea of a contest. Sorry i can't. I hate lose. & if i win, i hate see in the eyes of the others the frustation. In a contest, i'm always a loser." Contesting against Roy, Cube, Clarky... no, impossible. all that would be shit for me."

I think that's fatalism. We are like a huge virtual family ;-) And you would have high possibilities too, specially you, that are a real philosopher of the guitar...I can't wait to hear your music.

I really share your thoughts about G3 with you, an "unknown" guitar master for the G3 of the future sharing stage with Joe & other guitar star or "millionaire" guitarist as you say, would be a a G3 evolution & revolution, a dream come true.

gotta have Joe, hi Kayla! I'm doing well and how about you? Have a nice day!

DelfinoPie: "Also shaving my head again...so once again I'ma look like a mole"

Hahaha LOL!

surfinggohy,"Sniff :'( None of the Cd & the DVD are available in my shops in France...I must wait until the next week at least !!They say that Sony/Epic has not plan a worldwide launch on the 25.... What's the truth and what's the matter????....Some answers?"

I'm waiting for that too,as all worldwide fans outside US so we must stay tuned, normally is released in Europe after a week or so...

aussieRGman, G3 Live in Denver was released in February 24th 2004 and in Australia March 15th, perhaps it will happen the same with G3 Live in Tokyo, I don't know. But if you want to order it right now, you can buy it from amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BB03AU/102-9099761-6097728?v=glance&n=130&s=dvd&v=glance

svk, congrats! :-)

Have a nice weekend everyone, I'll be enjoying All Saints long weekend till Wednesday, rainy but nice, bye for now :-)

DCK - I was at a Petrucci clinic on Sunday, and when someone asked what pickups he's using he said "well, this is a DiMarzio D-Sonic or Drop-Sonic, and this is some other humbucker thing". I suppose the one he couldn't remember could be the Steve's Special...

VaiLaihoWylde - Maybe you're just taking it too seriously!!?? I'm a full-time guitar teacher, and the first thing I do with all my new students (no matter how long they've been playing), is to ask them why they first started learning - what gave them that want, that thirst? Then I tell them to always remember that, because if you can do that then you'll never lose the passion that you first had; and that's the most important thing.

That said, if you have any specific musical/technical quesitons then I'd be happy to help as much as I can, given the boundaries of the internet forum scenario... lol

Delfino- Shit, that reminds me - I still owe £100 to the guy that sold me mine!!!!! Looks like he's forgotten... It's a sweet guitar, mate; you'll enjoy it. Shredding on it can get tiring pretty quickly at first, but it's great fun for balls-to-the-wall riffage!!!!

Dear Joe,

I am a big Chinese fan of yours. and I can tell you this, I know tons, tons of your fans who have one thing in common. They listen to a large range of electric guitarists, including your friend and former student Steve Vai, but they all call you as their favortie player.

Now you are planning a tour in Japan, and I wanna ask when you plan to come to China. I assure you that if you come, you would be terrified at the number of audience. Shanghai or Beijing should be your options. Once you post an ad or something about your concert in China, all the fans in China will get their gear and a pair of ears rushing to Beijing and Shanghai.

Please come to China, and play satch wizard things here.

Wish you have a nice day.

DCK, YODA: I read that Petrucci used to use the AirNorton in the neck and the Steve Special in the bridge of the Ibanez guitars.....John said in an interview that the Musicman guitar is essentially a modified version of that set, so yes it is a diferent pickup set. That was only for the 6 string though as far as I understand it. Is it possible the Drop Sonic is a 7 string pu he uses?

962: Timmons da man! He's got some of the nicest flow and phrasing and tone tone tone! Him and Mattias AI Eklund.
