VDub Surfer

There are a number of very good musicians using this forum who regularly post links for others to listen to/critique their work. Some of the stuff is really good, try it and see.

Claiming penury and trying to blag freebies, then resorting to cheap insults when you are spotted is not very nice.

However, until Joe or his webmaster says otherwise, you are, like the rest of us, entitled to write what you like. So carry on demeaning yourself if that's what bakes your cake!

Jon Robert Quinn's JeRQ THIS! Now Available

Jon Robert Quinn's fourth CD Release is outstanding, providing intense, in-your-face instrumental rock. This CD provides 13 high-energy tracks that redefines Jon Robert Quinn's sound and abilities.

"The Intimidator" provides 7 minutes of mayhem with a musical portrait of one of his heros, Dale Earnhardt Sr. This song provides the listener with glory, pride, pain, and victory, yet leaves more to brandish with the rest of the cd.

"Believe" slows things down a bit with a sound from another galaxy. This song brings the soulful side of JRQ with slow and dramatic melodies with an extra-terrestrial mood.

Months before JeRQ THIS! was released, radio stations from around the world got to sample the CD. Immediately, they started adding songs to their playlists. This is no suprise to anybody, since this IS the BEST Jon Robert Quinn record to date and critics have given this CD outstanding reviews. Order Yours Today for 9.99 Click Here

Stevee T: Your end solo on Harvest needs a nudge up after a further listen.... it sounds just plain excellent, your playing hidey poos again stevie, lol.

I used to have a bad habit of swamping my solo parts in eq,delay, reverb & keeping them so far down in the mix, it seemed it was a part of the arrangement, it was also my excuse for a few years, ie “I don’t want the limelight, I want to be a part of the overall sound” which was mostly true but also a lie, it was a fear of others listening to the rougher edges anound my playing. A drummer friend arrived one day & said, keep the the whale sound for the backin, so natural i got on the defense, “its me, i like it, its what I want to say” & with that he took the joint out my hand, snubbed it out, poured the red wine down the sink & fired me direct into a boss cs-3 direct to amp & said “now play, add the rest later” I hated him for it at the time, infact I threw him out my house, lol. 2 months later I met him & apologised, he was right & a few years later I,d be playing in a band touring using only 2 guitars & 2 DI boxes with no amps & no fxs playing through a Midas desk with D&B speakers, man I,m talkin squeeky clean, nerves beatin the brain, can hear your sweat sticking to the strings kinda fear sound.

I,m not saying that’s what your going through, but at times reminds me of that turning point between feel & technique & the getting that fluent smoothness within lines & arrangement, Harvest shows that brilliantly & is by far from what I,ve heard, your best…now don’t go playin hide n seek again y bollox, lol

Slansh: I totally agree about FX. I used to use lots of delay and chorus, but once I got into tube amps, I kind of kicked all of that aside and concentrated on getting the guitar to sound great and pure completely naked. I think it helped my playing a bunch. Now I hardly use any FX on my lead tone even in recordings, and I think it sounds better. Heck, if you're going to be an instrumentl guitar player, you might as well stand up front and tell people that you're there hah!

Glad you enjoyed your tour, I hope Suzo had enough hot water! 962 tells me you are a pro photographer, you lucky person. The best of luck to you. I always think it is great when someones profession is doing what they would do for nothing as a hobby. My wife is similar, she builds and repairs putes.

Keep rocking everyone.

A young guy from Missouri moves to Florida and goes to a big "everything under the roof department store" looking for a job.

The manager says "Do you have any sales experience?"

The kid says, "Yeah, I was a salesman back home in Missouri."

Well, the boss liked the kid so he gave him the job.

"You start tomorrow. Ill come down after we close and see how you did."

His first day on the job was rough but he got through it. After the store was locked up, the boss came down.

"How many sales did you make today?"

The kid says, "One."

The boss says, "Just one?!! Our sales people average 20 to 30 sales a day! How much was the sale for?

The kid says, "$101,237.64".

The boss says, "$101,237.64? WHAT THE HELL DID YOU SELL?"

The kid says, " First I sold him a small fish hook, then I sold him a medium fish hook, then I sold him a larger fish hook, then I sold him a new fishing rod, then I asked him where he was going fishing and he said down at the coast, so I told him he was gonna need a boat, so we went down to the boat department and I sold him that twin engine Chris Craft. Then he said he didn't think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him down to the automotive department and sold him that 4x4 Expedition."

The boss said, "A guy came in here to buy a fishhook and you sold him a BOAT AND A TRUCK??"

The kid says, "No, he came in here to buy a box of tampons for his wife and I said, "Well, your weekend's shot, you might as well go fishing."
