Slansh: Thanks man! I didn't mean to promote myself ...this time haha! I've done plenty of whoring on this forum, but thanks for checking it out!

Kris Richards: I would definitely recommend the Legacy top cab....very warm, focused, open and resonant at the same time, and with the right amp (JSX haha!) it sounds great and mics up sooooo easy. I'm sure the XXX is a decent cab, but the thing is that the XXX cab has a higher handling wattage (300 watts I think), so it will sound stiffer and harsher. The V30 loaded cab (Legacy) will give a little bit without going to mush. You can make the XXX sound less stiff by using the "resonance" knob, but I prefer to match the JSX with a cab that will give a little bit, so can run the resonance knob as low as possible to keep the definition of the amp tighter, but still warm because of the cab. I hope this helps.

Hello and welcome to the Oct 22nd 2005 SATRIANI.COM newsletter!

In this issue:

* MESSAGE FROM JOE * G3 LIVE IN TOKYO - THEATRE SCREENING ONE NIGHT ONLY OCT 25! * G3 LIVE IN TOKYO RELEASE DETAILS * CONTEST! WIN A DVD SYSTEM AND COPIES OF G3 LIVE IN TOKYO

______________________________________________________________________________ MESSAGE FROM JOE ______________________________________________________________________________

The new DVD and CD "G3 Live in Tokyo" featuring Steve Vai, John Petrucci and yours truly is set for an October 25th release. This one looks and sounds so incredibly good, we are all very excited about it. The discs features original sets from all three of us as well as a great jam at the end, all captured one magical night in Tokyo, Japan, earlier this year.

We've also included a bonus feature DVD with footage from the sound check complete with separate commentary from Steve, John and myself. Come to think of it, I have no idea what the other guys talked about! So, I guess I'll be as surprised as all of you!

The last two months have seen me working away at writing and recording material for the next CD release. This new project has got the coolest new guitar sounds, and the strangest juxtapositions of grooves and textures. I'm having a great time playing guitar, bass and keys and thinking outside the usual convention. Jeff Campitelli and Simon Philips are handling the drum duties with Mike Fraser recording and mixing. We hope to be finished by Christmas for a March release. I haven't chosen the title yet, but rest assured I'll let you know when the time is right.

The next few months will see some changes to the website as we get closer to the new CD release, please let us know if there are any elements you would like to see us incorporate into the satriani.com experience.

______________________________________________________________________________ G3 LIVE IN TOKYO - THEATRE SCREENING ONE NIGHT ONLY OCT 25! ______________________________________________________________________________

Thanks to the fine folks at Pillar Entertainment, we're happy to announce that you can catch the full G3 LIVE IN TOKYO show in all of its glory (with a special theatrical audio mix!) in a theatre in key cities. If you're lucky enough to be in driving range, it should be a great experience, plus a fun time hanging out and meeting other Satch fans.

The time are: 8pm EST / 8pm CST / 8pm PSTlll

Joe...thanks for the news...can't wait for your new release in March....!!

What inspires us to try to become musicians??

My first and only guitar teacher (3 lessons total and it shows!!!) introduced me to three albums:

Wishbone Ash - First

Taste - On the Boards

Allmans - idlewild south specifically Elizabeth Reed

after i got those albums i did not need a teacher anymore and had all the inspiration i would ever need!!!!

mikesb:sometimes what inspires you has nothing to do with what we call music, although it probably is an amalgamation of no notes, your just young , burnt out & very alone from an experience that makes you feel isolated from society, you pick up something that gives sound & decide thats it, no more field testing needed

first post here May 10,03, i,m scared

Did anyone see the (Inside Out) show on VH1 on Velvet Revolver? I stayed up till 3 a.m. last night watching it. Man, they had a LOT of snags along the way! Their search for a singer lasted over 9 months. They heard Scott Weiland was taking a break from STP, so they gave him a call. Bad part is - he was struggling with his drug addiction (got arrested right after he tried out for the band) and had to go to rehab. He talked with Duff, and Duff hooked him up with a marshal arts type of rehab that he had gone through himself. It was a great show. Those guys seem like a really great bunch - without Axle weighing them down. To read more ~~~

Zen you were lucky... i grew up in the most unmusical environment possible... a military household. I brought the very first turntable and LP's into our house at 16 years old. The first was the first Black Sabbath, scared the shit out of me, the second was the first santana album which i found very very interesting i picked up a guitar for the very first time at 18 or 19 years old....
DCK remeber I said it is not post whoring when interesting which you are... Dont smash the parker i'll buy it lol
